"We had another great holiday here. The staff were almost universally friendly, helpful and professional. The quality of the food was very good, with an excellent choice for lunch at the poolside bar. A couple of points to note though: - the local municipality is transforming the area on three sides of the hotel into a new park. This is a substantial piece of engineering and we understand is to continue for some months. The building work comes right up to the boundary of the hotel and involves noise. When we were there the workers were busy from around 7.30 am to 3.30 pm on weekdays only. It did not disturb us in our room - but there was some noise at lunchtime at the pool bar and at the pool. Nothing too bad but since we particularly choose this hotel for its calm and peace it was a little annoying. We know the work is outside the control of the hotel, but some information from management as to expected duration of the works and what they are doing to mitigate the issue would be helpful. - a previous reviewer noted that the age limit for the spa/hydrotherapy pool had been reduced. The management's response was that this was temporary for the Christmas holiday season but when we went in early February (not holiday season) the age limit was still reduced to age 8 and above. There is also new signage saying that this is the relaxation pool and asking you to maintain a quiet atmosphere. Think that this is a little unrealistic for 8 or 9 year olds..... and not really a workable option.. However, we love the hotel and still plan to return once the work has been substantially completed."

"Vacation at this hotel is over. I’ll break everything down point by point: — There are cockroaches in the rooms! — Expired products are being served, such as ketchup and mayonnaise (I am attaching photos). — Very noisy. Absolutely no sleep. Because of the discos (at night) and because of breakfast (in the morning) — staff shout loudly and make a lot of noise moving things around early in the morning. And during the day they do reconstruction — repairing empty rooms on the third floor. Why they do renovations in the summer season is unclear. — Food is à la carte. Breakfast does not always match the menu. It says “fresh papaya or mango,” but in fact everything comes from cans (canned fruit). This type of breakfast is not for everyone. Often you are afraid to take too much, then feel embarrassed to leave it, so you force yourself to eat it. But you won’t stay hungry. The coffee is bad. — Dinner is a disaster. The cook is apparently not a professional. Everything is tasteless, poor in variety, and not always fresh. Monotonous — just a basic salad at the buffet, which is often empty. The wine is of average quality. Spoiled juices are served, expired ketchup, and so on. I’ll attach a photo of one example. Also, if in the morning you ordered fish for dinner, but in the evening you suddenly want meat, you cannot change it unless you pay extra. With half board plus you only get one drink included. — Most of the staff are good. Especially noteworthy: a strong girl with a braid at breakfast — hardworking and polite. A tall blonde from the Netherlands — creative and attentive, works both breakfast and dinner shifts. Salvatore from Italy — works occasionally, but also at breakfasts and dinners. Sidi is also very good, he tries hard. At the reception all the men are very attentive, especially Detlev. — Bed linen and towels are worn out. Cleaning was good only on the first day when we checked in, later it was mediocre. A couple of times they forgot to clean at all. But there were always enough supplies, and the room itself is nice and comfortable. — Not enough loungers at the pool, because people reserve them in advance. — There is no entertainment in the hotel except bingo. — The price for the hotel is reasonable. I do not recommend it for families with children or for elderly people — you can go crazy from the constant noise, both at night and during the day. It is suitable for young people looking for a short burst of fun. And for those who care more about being at the seaside than all the disadvantages listed above — since the sea is only 10 minutes away from the hotel."

"This is indeed a very good hotel with several extremely positive points, a lot of which have already been eulogised about by previous reviewers. So, I will start with the few points that could be viewed as possible negatives, but for others could well be the main positive. Firstly, I cannot comment what the demographic is like in the high season, but during January the hotel attracts quite a mature crowd. Obviously, anyone under the age of 16 is not allowed in anyway, but if you are under the age of 50 you will very much be in the minority at this time of year. Not a problem for us but may be if you are the person who prefers your hotel to have a lively beating pulse. I am guessing one reason for this is that to my eyes, the hotel seemed excellently set up for those with mobility issues, with ramps everywhere and although I was initially concerned that the hotel only has two lifts, they were probably the fastest and most efficient lifts I have experienced in a hotel. Having reserved sun beds is an interesting concept and one that I think overall worked. It certainly took away all the angst of having to compete to reserve a decent bed each morning. However, at this time of year, for first timers you need to survey the lay of the land before finalising on a bed because the beds either got the morning sun or the afternoon sun but not both, so you need to choose according to preference. Being morning sun bathers, we were lucky to get two pool side beds for the morning sun, but in January these are in the shade by 2.30PM. An interesting upshot of this system seemed to be that people were much more relaxed about being on their beds and I would say that at any point in time only a third of them had their owners on them and this number decreased after 3.00PM. So, there wasn’t actually a problem to move for the last couple of hours onto an unoccupied bed in the sun, and hope that their owners did not return. The hotel also runs a strange system that, outside of the main buffet restaurant, you cannot put food and drink on your room, but have to pay for it there and then by credit card (no cash payments accepted). This means that you have to take your wallet with you to the pool area and to the bars in the evening which was a bit of an annoyance but hardly a showstopper. The location of the hotel is OK, but this far end of San Agustin is pretty sleepy and there is not a lot of bars and restaurants in close proximity to the hotel. For those who prefer to drink after dinner in a local bar you really had to take the ten-minute walk into the San Agustin shopping centre. A couple of positives though, are that the local public transport bus stop is right opposite the hotel and the island bus system is fantastic and busses will take you easily to the other resorts along the coast and its virtually a non-stop bus service into Las Palmas from here and you can be there in 40 minutes. Also, the hotel sits at the far end of the recently completed (2023 I believe) pedes"
