Galaxy Villas

I will qualify this review as an established travel agent who travels and books holidays for people all over the World... Pros: *Great reception, cleaning service and hotel team who can't do enough for you *Although rooms need significantly updating to be a true 4* experience,  the resort is clean and tidy *Location in the quaint Greek village of Koutouloufari is charming *Nice outdoor bar area *Acceptable but deep pool Cons: *This is not a 4* hotel! I've stayed in many and this is equivalent of a 2* or 3* at best *Rooms are tired (see pictures). You could call them authentic Greek if you were being kind! They need considerable updating *You have to pay for a safe key and the air-conditioning separately. It is so hot in the summer that you need the aircon so it feels like this is a true air con! The charge may be dressed up in sustainability but there is no fan in the rooms and this is certainly not a sustainable hotel *The 'villas' are self-catering but no tea towel or washing up sponge or liquid is provided  *All bed mattresses are rock hard and you feel the springs. Great if you like a very firm bed  Would I recommend Galaxy Villas? If you like authentic Greek dilapidated-style decor, the lovely location and friendly staff, then yes. We enjoyed our holiday despite the negatives highlighted in my review, it was simply disappointing that the accommodation didn't live up to how it is advertised.

Galaxy Villas Staff were very helpful and friendly especially Antonio on reception who helped us throughout our stay. Our rooms were very spacious and we were in a beautiful garden setting with a sea view. Had no complaints about any of the staff. Extremely hot water on tap at all times. If we had a complaint it was against Easy Jet whose description of the property made no reference to the amount of dangerous steps there were to negotiate throughout the property both outside and inside our villa. Being in our late seventies and eighties this was quite a problem for us and our friends. Also at the end of our stay we had a huge influx of American college students (around 80) we were told, who whilst polite and friendly were extremely loud and took over the pool and bar every day/evening keeping our friends awake with their loud noise into the early morning. Koutouloufari is a delightful village with a supermarket and excellent bakery right opposite the complex and also a great range of Tavernas which were also very good. Very friendly people all around. The beach is a very long walk downhill into Heronnisos took us 40 minutes, and we had to hire a taxi / car to get to any decent quiet beaches as Heronnisos is very over crowded and commercial. All in all I would recommend the Villas for younger people but if you have any mobility problems then I would suggest reluctantly that this is not the place for you and I wish we had looked at the trip advisor reviews BEFORE booking it. Our mistake but Easy Jet should make this clear in their description of the property.

Fantastic hotel tucked away in beautiful Koutouloufari. So welcoming and would recommend the breakfast as a great start to the day. Comfortable Villa , nothing fancy but immaculately clean and tidied each day. Didn’t really use the pool as we beached each day. Fantastic recommendation from Antonio of the Gorgono tavern beach which was superb. We like walking and it was about 3km but I’m sure taxis are readily available. Also went to Dio beach which was great. The Galaxy Villas are right in the village which has an abundant supply of restaurants. We ate in a different place every night and barely scratched the surface. Really lovely to come back from the beach each day and have a seriously cold beer from the Pool bar. Thankyou Galaxy Villas. A brilliant holiday.

This place is awful it’s like a hostel not a hotel our rooms were gross mouldy walls and ceilings, stunk of damp , the beds were damp and the ceilings leak when it rains, very outdated , I don’t think the floors had been swept for weeks I had to ask the cleaner for a sweeping brush , the manager wasn’t very helpful he was to busy doing shots and perving around a group of young girls

I completely forgot to write this review in early May, so I apologise for the delay! We stayed for one week from late April to early May and had an amazing time. The pool is great to cool down in, we had no issues getting sun loungers by the pool and the hotel was very clean. We had a ground floor apartment that was very authentic Greek, with a lovely patio area to have a drink on. The staff were all amazing, friendly and happy to chat - reception was great and I loved having a pool table available. It’s a short walk to bars and restaurants and Koutouloufari is beautiful. We will definitely be returning!

A very pleasant stay In a pleasant apartment block .one bed apartment but nice and big and airy .Buffet breakfast was basic , swimming pool was a bit small but was pleasant,a walk away to bars and restaurants and across the road to a lovely bakery and supermarket.

It was our first time in Crete and we fell in love. The staff at Galaxy Villas were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much bother. We stayed in a maisonette and there was plenty of space for us and our two sons, the air con was a godsend! The cleaners do a fantastic job and the villa was always clean and tidy after they had been. The pool is deep as others have said, but there are floats and pool noodles for communal use which may help the less confident swimmers, there is also a small pool for younger children which seems to always be in the shade. We had breakfast here every morning and as a family with fussy eaters and those who will try new things it worked well for both, it allowed us not to have to worry about sorting breakfast in the morning. The kitchenette was small, but it would be good if you wanted to cook something basic to eat. We did not cook while here, so I can't comment too much. You can eat either at Galaxy Villas or take a short walk into the little town where there are plenty of options available. Some days the sunbeds were all taken by breakfast, but there is also a pile of sunbeds which the staff are happy for you to move, one of the days we had a sunbed outside our villa door. Can honestly say we had one of the best holidays we have ever had and we were sad to leave and are looking to return in the future.

Be prepared to set your alarm if you want a bed round the pool ! No where near enough beds and the ones that are there are squashed in with poor umberellas ripped and flimsy ! It’s very dated and tired looking but the apartments are kept nice and clean ! If you have a late flight home be prepared to shower by the pool and change in pool toilets ! Or book an extra night before you come out ! I wouldn’t call it 4 star more like a 2 star!

Booked a last minute 3 night stay at Galaxy Villas with my daughter from 2nd to 5th July24 as a treat for her. Staff remained friendly, amusing and so very helpful throughout our stay. Our 1st floor villa was quirky, traditional and accomodating with a sea view and overlooked the pool. Sanctuary!!! Bakery, several supermarkets and multiple restaurants literally starting from just outside the hotel entrance and beyond. Beaches all within 15-20mins walk away. Preparing to return again in September with my husband
