Manda Bay

We just returned from a wonderful visit to Manda Bay, with its beautiful location, kind staff, delicious food, and exceptional service. Mwezi and the entire team were welcoming and worked hard to ensure that we enjoyed our visit to this incredible place. Visits to Lamu and Shela, snorkeling from a dhow, and hours of peace on this beautiful property were some of the highlights of our stay at Manda Bay. A highlight of our visit was a delicious seafood lunch prepared by the crew of our dhow. We look forward to returning to this special place. Thank you!

Manda Bay is heavenly! The food was amazing - I’m a fussy eater but adored everything- the prawn pasta was a highlight. The beach is beautiful, the palms are beautiful and so are the rooms. Room 7 is great for four people as it’s two massive bedrooms with two lovely bathrooms. The sea is visible and there is a lovely breeze! Mwezi took amazing care of us, really made us feel at home. She catered for our every needs! Julius made great cocktails and Saidi made watersports really fun! The room boys were very nice and make up your room every morning and evening, all the staff ALWAYS have a smile on their face. I hope to return to this beautiful island and see all the lovely staff again! If your thinking about booking it- DO IT!!!! Thank you Manda Team!!

Perfect, idyllic getaway, even if for a couple of days. Caragh and her whole team were amazing. Staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They made every bit of the stay as comfortably a possible, and they were all especially friendly and helpful to my pup who enjoyed the stay and adventure immensely. The place is simply stunning and they have designed it so well to enhance the natural features of the island and not go overboard with anything. Subtle or quiet luxury - not for everyone, but if you know what i mean, you will absolutely love this place! Attention to detail, location, staff, beautiful spacious rooms and pup-friendly were some of my top reasons to definitely visit Manda Bay resort! Thank you for a memorable stay! The most amazing place to relax and totally recharge. Mwezi and her team look after you so well, my resting heart rate and blood pressure have never been so low! After the early starts of a safari, this is the ideal place to chill. Stunning rooms on the beach front, fresh food every day and the friendliest staff you could ask for. Will definitely go again.

Me and my husband booked manda bay as part of our honeymoon and I will never forget how much our eyes lit up when we rode round the corner and we first saw where we were staying. We were greeted by the amazing friendly staff and had a drink in hand within minutes. The most gorgeous setting, beautiful rooms and incredible service. We can’t thank the manda team enough for making our trip truly unforgettable, and we can’t wait to plan a visit back! To top our trip off, we booked a short fishing experience and ended up getting meters away from humpback whales. Insane!!!!

The most amazing place in so many ways - perfect for complete relaxation after our family safari! Arrival by speedboat made us feel like we were in a James Bond film but that was the only adrenaline rush we chose to have! After that we were all about swimming in the sea or in the pool, lounging on the day beds, on the shaded swings and watching the sky change whilst trying to read a book. The food - oh my the food - seafood galore. Fussy teenagers ate it all! (Plus Mwesi made sure they were ok with what was on offer in case they were not) The style was casual but the food was top notch. Titus behind the bar was happy to demonstrate how to make a Dawa and we bought Dawa sticks from the shop so we can make them and remember Manda from home. Paddle boarding as a family was a highlight and sundowner drive past the biggest baobab tree and ruins with buffalo on the air***** were really special. As you can probably tell we absolutely loved this place and are plotting out return!

What a fantastic place. Looked after so well by Mwezi and Pia and their great diligent staff. Would highly recommend as a decompress after Safari, or just go there... It is that good. Chilled, small and intimate, not a 'resort', but just an excellent place. Great fresh food and choices. Drinks at 7 pm with fellow guests if you want to be social. Always enough to do ....or do nothing....Swimming, beach runs/walks, sundowners, fishing out on the boats and on the point. Interesting trip to Lamu and great lunch at Peponi Hotel. Banda 7 for us a family was perfect. 2 seperate rooms in the same building. We will be back in the fishing season... Thank you Manda.

I don't think we would have changed one thing about our stay, we even loved the rain. Everyone went out of their way to welcome us and make our stay superb. The seafront room was perfect, going to bed every night listening to the ocean and waking at dawn to walk and bird watch. The food delicious, beautifully prepared and fresh. Everyone at Manda Bay went out of their way to look after you without it ever feeling obtrusive. They could not have been more helpful and I want to go back now!

My mom and I loved our short stay at Manda Bay and wish that we could have stayed longer. Mwezi, the wonderful manager, and her attentive staff made my mom and I feel well taken care of and spoiled! The small resort is beautiful and the perfect place if you want to relax since you are the only resort on this side of Manda Island which faces out towards the Indian Ocean. We had a lovely villa facing the beach, loved the infinity pool and eating dinner on the beach every night. The food is delicious and you are well feed from breakfast to dinner and also tea time and bitings for a Sundowner. A highlight for us was taking a Dhow boat ride for sunset that Mwezi organized for us. I highly recommend this as a great place to escape and relax!
