We stayed in the middle beach front room. From looking at the other hotels in the surrounding area, this was probably best for value and location. Staff were incredibly kind and extremely helpful. I’d rate the hotel amenities 3 star - but the location gets it to the 4th star. The bed was the comfiest I have slept on in Thailand and the beach front room was a treat when waking up in the morning. Hot water and water pressure wasn’t consistent and lots of ants everywhere. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel is currently renovating (receptionist said it would be completed on the day or day after our stay, but it definitely looks like it will be finished in mid-January/early Feb. Tip for the hotel staff - please be upfront and honest to manage guests expectations about your renovation - it didn’t bother us but it would bother others!) Skip the breakfast - As the hotel is renovating, breakfast is at a cafe a few doors down. You can choose either a ‘western, Thai or healthy’ breakfast. We had the western and healthy between us, honestly I’d skip the breakfast as there better looking places nearby and on the side streets. This isn’t the hotels fault, it’s just whoever they’ve teamed up with. We emailed beforehand to ask not to be in the room next to the bar as we’d read negative reviews. We were placed in the middle beach view room out of the 5. We stayed Wednesday - Saturday and the room was quite loud, it’s mostly the base you can hear from the nearby beach bar. The hotel provides earplugs in the room anyway and we didn’t find it as a problem as we sleep through anything - but it was VERY loud on the Friday night and would bother some. There was a drunk man who tried to take a sleep on our balcony netting, security spotted him very quickly and had already moved him along before I asked. Even though this happened, I felt extremely safe knowing there’s security all night long who keep a watchful eye. If you’re ok with your location being in a super busy area and wanting to experience Koh Tao’s night life, this hotel is for you. If you want something more private and peaceful, I’d suggest looking elsewhere but you won’t find a better location to a brilliant beach. Friendly staff and very helpful. We were offered a free bottle of wine from the mini bar and two free taxi trips to the port - thank you!
The service at the Tarna Align resort is impeccable. They keep you in touch via Whatsapp and are incredibly welcoming and helpful. Golf buggies take you anywhere you want to go into Sairee and then bigger vans for the pier. They provide good amenities eg toothpaste. We stayed in a Villa Sea View room which had absolutely stunning views and a great balcony. It was a short trip into Sairee for walks in the day or for night time activities. The only downside was the room. 1. It was incredibly dark with all the lights on at night with no option to have brighter lights on. 2. The bedside table is a small floating shelf next to the bed and sloped downwards so in the night things would fall off onto the floor. 3. The only way to control lighting and air con was by a panel on one side of the bed which meant if one person fell asleep the other person had to try and get out to get to the panel. 4. Beware of the glass door to the toilet- we both walked into it and bruised ourselves as it was so clean and see through. Could benefit from stickers on it to prevent this. 5. The fridge is right behind the bed and very noisy so we had to unplug it at night to sleep
This was a very interesting resort. A nice stay. Beautifully set on the waterfront and peaceful. The bungalows are rustic and charming and the swimming pools are terrific. Breakfast is good and the views overlook the beautiful water. The location of the property is ideal, it is very close to town and many restaurants. No television, but sometimes it's good to be without one for a while. Staff is nice and friendly.
We splurged for a Deluxe Pavilion room, and it was absolutely stunning! We had a wraparound private balcony with stunning views of the marina and beach. Yes, this resort has a LOT of stairs, but it's because it was built into the hillside. Architecture integrates in the natural stone, which is really amazing. The pool is lovely with a bar that kicks off happy hour at 5pm. Food is delicious, including the breakfast (opt in for that - it's worth it!). The dive shop and marina are on property, which made diving every day so easy. The beach is filled with reefs and coral so easy to snorkel and see giant clams, reef fish, etc if you don't want to scuba dive. While the spa has a lovely space, our masseuses were not good, so go elsewhere for a Thai massage. Everyone we met was so helpful and courteous. Would definitely come back!
ผผู้เข้าพักThis place is a little rustic but has some real charm. Set in the rocks on the side of the bay, it is a little steep getting up to the restaurant and back down to the rooms but there are plenty of steps about and you soon get used to the short climb. The site may need a little touch up here and there but the views from the restaurant, the quality, value and flavours of the meals available as well as the efficiency, attentiveness and sheer friendliness of the staff makes up for it. We hired a bungalow which was two separate rooms (both with an ensuite) and with a shared balcony. The property also had a gate for privacy. This was ideal for us as a family of 5, although my youngest (10) had to sleep on a mattress on the floor which she wasn't initially impressed with. However, we had views of the bay from the balcony and, generally, the beds were comfortable and the place quiet. Infact, my husband and I slept with our bedroom doors open, as we could see the sea, and were woken by some beautiful sunrises each morning. We then dozed off again until breakfast. The staff were hugely accommodating and bent over backwards for us all. We were able to borrow the kayaks and life jackets to explore the bay and, for a small fee, the team were able to drop us wherever we needed to go on the island. My husband and I did some diving with Roctopus Dive School and my girls did some try dives but it was no-issue for the Taootoh staff to take and collect us from Sairee Beach. The bay has numerous turtles and each time we snorkelled we saw at least one. It was also highly amusing watching visiting tourist boats come to the bay as you could always tell when someone had spotted a turtle as suddenly a sea of orange (from the life jackets) would move around the bay together. The location of Taatoh is great. It's off the main road and away from the rest of the guesthouses/hotels but within walking distance (10 minutes tops) of the beach, bars and seafront. Just around the corner in the opposite direction is Freedom Beach. You pay a small fee to enter but it was worth it. The beach is small and secluded but the bar has many tables to chill at (overlooking the bay) as well as comfy beanbags. There are so many fish in the waters here and we were lucky enough to see some turtles. We absolutely loved it here and are so pleased we chose it over our other choice on the opposite side of the bay. My girls have asked to go back which is always a good sign! PS - They love cats and have quite a few pets, all well cared for and very friendly.
KKevinGthis hotel isn't worth its price. if you want something comfortable, pick something else.
the good: it is family run so the staff is helpful (late checkout), they speak a bit of english. The room is clean and overall it's acceptable.
the bad:
- i felt a total lack of security. The checkin is at the ground floor, then the rooms start from 1 to 4 floor. all floors are accessible by a staircase which is directly accessible to anyone from the main road. Basically there is no garden/private area, the checkin office and the staircase are simply on the road. There is no staff after 8pm and the hotel is situated a little in the back of the town. So basically anyone can walk up the stairs. Then the door locker is really bad, there is no second security lock (which most hotels have) so this is innaceptable due to the fact that the room door is basically accessible to anyone from outside.
- the shower isn't great, the water is hot all day long (by sun) so no way to take a fresh shower at day. at night or early morning, the water is cold (or have to wait at least 5min to drain the water out)
- the hotel is pretty basic. for the same price you can have a swimming pool in another hotel..
