Wow what a fantastic stay in eavry posable way best room in the bungalow overlooking the mountains to the most attentive, friendly, fun staff and superb food thank you for making our 50th anniversary very special with all the wonderful surprises we will never forget special thanks to tharaka. Navod. Manjula for last night's beautiful evening and all the rest of the staff for making us so comfortable and welcome 🙏 highly recommend to anyone
I had an exceptional stay at Theva! From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, making me feel truly valued as a guest. Food was 10/10! What stood out most to me was the hotel’s commitment to giving back to the community. They actively support charitable initiatives, which added a meaningful touch to my visit. Knowing that part of their efforts go toward making a positive impact made my stay all the more memorable.
The villa is beautifully restored with impeccable taste, high quality fittings and beautiful antiques. A real class act. The team could not be more attentive, helpful and kind, all of them always with a big welcoming, smile. The menu choices for breakfast and diner is excellent, a lot of choice between Sri Lankan and European. The chefs are completely brilliant, see attached photos! They care so much about what we think they come and see after we have eaten that we enjoyed their food. One evening they asked us what we would like to eat and we asked if a biriyani would be possible. They did this the next evening, beautifully and offered it to the other guests who all ordered it! Apparently it’s now on the menu rotation!” As we stayed quite a few days the team arranged for me to have a cooking lesson with the kitchen team, we went to the market to get a few things and then they prepped the food and I went in for the cooking. It was so much fun and I learnt a lot. I feel I can have a try at home and hopefully get it close to their result! This place is a real delight in Kandy, I know some of the reviews mention the train and the main road but there are so few trains and once you are in the property you don’t really notice the road noise. I just want to say a huge thank you to the whole team for looking after us so well!
The hotel itself and its facilities are fantastic. The rooms are nice and the food is absolutely superb. Unfortunately the service in the restaurant was really poor, which made this stay absolutely unpleasant. We were given dirty table cloths (and they didn’t want to replace it after asking for it), our table was given to someone else while we were at the buffet, we had to order drinks several times until finally served, we were given the bill to sign while still eating the main dish (not even dessert) and actually wanted to order more drinks, after being seated, we had to wait min 10 min to place orders for drinks or get silverware etc. From a 5* hotel we definitely expected something better. This is the only hotel during our trip, where we experienced bad service. which is a pity, as otherwise the hotel is really nice. We would not book it again.
A Peaceful and Comfortable Retreat, but with Room for Service Improvement
I stayed at the Jetwing Kandy Gallery during my visit to Kandy, and overall, it was a relaxing experience.
The rooms are spacious and bright, with balconies. I was fortunate to have a room overlooking the pool, which offered a fantastic view. The room was very comfortable, and every morning, I enjoyed waking up, stepping onto the balcony, and soaking in the tranquility of the surroundings. The hotel is located by the famous Mahaweli River, and the natural environment around it is excellent, with frequent sightings of various birds and eagles. It’s a great place for those who love peace and nature.
The pool was my favorite part of the hotel. It’s open almost all day, and swimming in the morning or evening felt like having the entire pool and sky to myself, a truly serene experience. The restaurant also overlooks the pool, and dining there offers both visual and sensory enjoyment. After breakfast each day, I would sit on the terrace, read a book, or work. It was quiet, and the temperature was perfect—not too hot. This hotel was one of the few places during my 20-day trip in Sri Lanka where I could truly relax and enjoy some peaceful reading time.
However, the hotel has some shortcomings in its service. First, it’s located quite far from the city center, which might not be convenient for those looking to explore Kandy. Second, the quality of service felt unrefined. For example, upon check-in, staff members performed a traditional song and dance, but it felt half-hearted. Later, I was assigned a personal service staff member and given a phone for direct contact. However, the staff member seemed inexperienced. For instance, when I asked if the curtains were manual or electric, they demonstrated how to close them but then reopened them, even though it was already 6-7 p.m. and completely dark outside. These small details reflected a lack of polish in the service.
Another minor issue was at breakfast. Every morning, I chose cereal and was asked if I preferred coconut syrup or honey. I answered “coconut syrup” every time, but the staff still asked me the same question every day. While it’s a small matter, it suggests room for improvement in their service process.
Overall, the Jetwing Kandy Gallery is a great place to relax and connect with nature. The rooms, pool, and surrounding environment are excellent. If the hotel could enhance its service details, such as being more attentive to guests’ habits and preferences, the experience would be even better.
Kandy Victory Eco Resort is truly a hidden paradise surrounded by a range of green mountains and birds. Overall Worth it, the room, petite balcony, and the view (I suggest changing the sitting concrete to a comfy chair pls), and the food was served warm (the presentation & taste were beyond expectations). Sudara the manager is fresh to the place and I was surprised by his clients handling the talent. All the staff were very friendly and treated us like a part of the family. Highly recommend and will love to visit the place again..! always follow Hotell's instructions on the route.! Not the Google map. Not a difficult road I was on my Aqua G’s
EEnglish RoseMisty Hills Villa Kadugannawa boasts the most incredible view over local mountains, best enjoyed if you are taking a cooling dip in the (small, but perfectly positioned) infinity pool! My husband and I were very well looked after during our short stay. The hotel staff served lovely breakfasts, organised two dinners for us and booked a tuk tuk for a day trip to Kandy. They also surprised me with a beautiful little cake on my birthday and even sang to me! The only small points I would make is that the dinners are not actually cooked on site - and that the staff did not offer to clean or make up our bedroom during our 3 night stay. Nevertheless, much kindness and warmth was demonstrated towards us and we loved the rural position of the property.
SSandra-MariaDecent clean stay, and good value for the money. Room was small and tidy, clean bathroom, quite nice modern style overall with apparent concrete wall finish ( cool if you ask me and unexpected ).
Staff was friendly and helpful, only thing was that the room was direclty in front of the elevator and it was noisy. In the early morning there are monkeys on the balcony searching for food so better not leave the door open.
RROMAN_MOROZOVДешевый гостевой дом.
CConan NassLovely view and soft, comfortable beds to sleep in for the night.
The single, only problem I had was the waiter at the restaurant kept asking me, “are you okay, is everything good?” literally every 2 minutes. After saying “yes, thank you” multiple times, he stands there and starts a conversation, and once, just stands there and looks at me. The only thing I want to do is eat my food in peace. Lastly, after the only thing he brought me was a cappuccino (as it was a buffet so I fetch my own food), I gave a 1000 lkr tip. He was visibly upset with this and his over-friendliness completely disappeared. I didn’t dare to go back to the restaurant after this. Food was good, however!
2222MichaelDWe stayed at the Sharron Inn for four nights . My wife and I are from Australia.
