Thomas at the front desk and his manager, David, were both exceptionally friendly, polite, and helpful. The biggest surprise of the visit was the FABULOUS bartender, Monty. We stopped one evening, thinking we'd just have one drink before heading to our room, but had such a great time talking with him and were so impressed with his service that we wound up being there for a couple hours and a couple of refills each. Not only that, but we made a point of stopping in each night during our stay (though we exercised more self-control over the quantity of beverages during subsequent visits!).
Now, for the less-than-stellar. The bathroom left MUCH to be desired, despite having a pretty terrific shower with excellent water pressure, and the water got hot quickly, too; as Californians, it always makes us uneasy to have to let water run extensively to get hot. There are NO towel bars and no soap dish at the sink, so we had no choice but to get fresh towels every day (no way to let the towels dry between showers), and the bar of hand soap a) slid into the sink after use and b) made a mess on the sink surround. Worst of all, the bathroom has a barn-style sliding door, which doesn't create quite the level of privacy one would like for certain...bathroom activities.
We'll DEFINITELY return to the bar, but probably stay at a neighboring hotel next time, unless Hyatt modifies the bathrooms.
