Champneys Forest Mere

Relaxing and magical. Dropped our worries at the door and chillaxed on the 2-night stay. Staff very attentive, especially Claudine who went above and beyond to sort out our bookings when we checked in and out. Have re-booked our next trip thank you Champneys.

A huge shout out to ALL the fabulous fitness team! Everyone is so absolutely amazing and helpful. Stuart my PT who is putting me through my paces, Wendy the best hula hoop and line dancing teacher ever, Jodie the ace stretch lady, Jack with his incredible Pulse Roll class (which totally improved my downward dog in the yoga class that followed!) The super apprentice who I’ve nicknamed “the best arm exercise guy”. The lovely receptionist on the fitness desk helping me book on classes when my app doesn’t work. Then there’s the fabulous team on main reception who are always so friendly and cheerful - Claudine who let me know about the 30% - forever friends LOL! The wonderful team in the shop - so many great offers on the many wondrous things. The superb team in the orangery for the banter as well as the best lattes in town. And upstairs where you can book a selection of treatments, all the staff are so helpful. Huge thank you to Frank who gives the best massage and also an insightful reflexology treatment. Totally love this resort and highly recommend ❤️

Fantastic spa! The range and quality on offer is unparalleled in this area: beautiful pool, whirlpool by the pool, outdoor jacuzzi, indoor jacuzzi, mixed sauna, steam, ice room, air room, two showers with winter mist, tropical rain & storm options, single sex steam & saunas in the changing rooms, outdoor heated pool from June, lots of water beds & chill areas to relax. The showers look like new, no grotty grouting. Always plenty of shampoo, conditioner & shower gel. The changing rooms & spa area is always nice & clean. The staff are so friendly in the wellness suite area & couldn’t be more helpful. Beautiful grounds make you feel super relaxed.

First and last visit post pandemic and oh how this has fallen! It's not clean, broken loo seats and hand dryers. Limescale and cobwebs. Excrement on Sun loungers outside and pool was dirty. Seating inside and out needs deep clean. Our double room was a twin. They ran out of shower gel! The room was noisy and trolleys were run outside the window before 7am. This was after a fire alarm twice in the night so very little sleep. Front desk girl had no eye contact and an attitude. Operations manager smelled of smoke and didn't give a toss. He literally ignored every point raised. The food is now low quality ingredients and very little choice. They ran out of puddings so it was 'fresh fruit' which was melon or melon.... our lunch was a tiny chicken leg with vegetable broth and pearl barley which was very unpleasant. The table next to us ordered beetroot starter and another lady ordered beetroot salad for main course and they were exactly the same. Dinner was OK because we paid more for steak but the 3 potato wedges with it were black n burnt. Breakfast was shocking! Only cold options unless you pay more. Tinned fruits only apart from banana pieces. No hot option. Cold boiled eggs. Cheap cereal and a mountain of bread. Self serve coffee. Totally different from the lovely buffet breakfast before with egg station and smoked salmon. Now it's low grade ingredients all the way unless you pay more each time. Classes are all paid apart from the odd one or two. Bathrobes are 40 deposit plus you have a paper stamped in and out which they insist you keep safe at all times or they will charge. Then retain this docket so you have no proof and are made to feel like a theif at every discussion about the low quality robe! It wasn't relaxing it was incredible stressful due to the filth and lack of service. Verity the spa manager was the only management who listened and tried to help. We came home early, not relaxed and absolutely shattered through lack of sleep.

As a very long standing guest at Champneys I know what to expect really but what can make a visit extra special is when you arrive and the person at check in recognises you and couldn’t do more to help you. Louie was honestly amazing, he is so efficient and personable. Got me checked in and into my room like lightening. Lovely room with a view over the beautiful lake. Having a wander round resort, again, was recognised and warmly welcomed by a restaurant member of staff . This means so much to a frequent guest and really makes me, as a solo traveller, feel very relaxed and welcomed. Food was of good quality and service was efficient and courteous. Few little changes , now have Elemis products in the rooms, nice! Pay as you go, handy to save any mistakes on your bill. Lunch is included again, big tick! The wildlife have clearly been breeding well around the lake!😂 Thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay and all too soon it was time to check out, I was looked after very well again here with Amelia and Libby(who was training) . On countdown to my next trip which is already booked for August. See you soon!

I really wanted to leave a positive review as the 31st May is a tough day for me, I won’t go into that, but just wanted it to be perfect. We booked a twilight package including evening meal so went for a swim ( no loungers or beds available) so we just left our towels on the side. My husband booked me a 20 minute * back massage which was a nice surprise - it’s not so nice when you’ve paid over £50 and the treatment is only 17 minutes. That’s appalling! I’ve emailed Champneys twice with no response. Our meal was booked for 8pm so arrived at 07.45pm and our starters were bought out by 8pm which was good. The main meal which has drastically changed in size arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes later. We sat waiting and waiting plus asked two servers who had no clue where our food was, so unhelpful! By that time we had lost our appetite to be honest as it was 9.15pm and dessert hadn’t been ordered…. We were supposed to leave at 9pm as stated on the website, so I basically sat there anxious as hell thinking we were going to be charged extra. We were not even offered a drink or a refill on the table water in that time. The conclusion from the manager at check out was some staff were new with inadequate training. What a terrible excuse and I’m still waiting for a reply after sending two e-mails. I personally needed the 31/05 to be amazing - instead it was terrible and you should be ashamed cutting treatments short.

Just back for refreshing and restful stay at Champneys, Forest Mere. Emily welcomed us at the early arrival desk, and allocated us a room in the old part of the house, with an outside patio. The food, treatments, classes and fitness staff were all excellent, and Claudine assisted us with prompt checkout and help. Will definitely return.

I had a 3-night stay with my sister to relax and unwind and we weren't disappointed. The staff were all very friendly from the onset and nothing was ever too much trouble. We were greeted by the lovely Emily who was very personable. Our room was lovely, clean, and spacious, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The food was tasty and healthy and the restaurant was managed well by Marius, who was charming and made everyone feel comfortable and important - one evening the service was a bit slow and some people were complaining. However, Marius kept the staff and the atmosphere calm, which still resulted in the majority of the guests having a pleasant dining experience. All the waiting staff were friendly, but Kaitlyn stood out; she was very knowledgeable regarding the ingredients in the meals, as I am gluten intolerant, and was able to advise me confidently. We had a few treatments which were all lovely; the Elemis facial which I had with Nela, was wonderful. It was very busy, (half term) which resulted in not always being able to relax around the pool area, although there were plenty of other areas to relax. We had a wonderful few days and will definitely be returning.
