Riad Dar Arsama

A wonderful little place in the heart of Fes. We arrived in the city by train and took a taxi to the Blue Gate. We gave them a heads up and as soon as we arrived, there was already someone waiting to escort us to the hotel. We didn't have any small change for the taxi, but they graciously helped us pay (we paid them back later). The place is about a 10 min walk from the Blue Gate and is right in the middle of the Medina. The stairs are quite narrow, but the place overall is gorgeous. Intricately decorated and perfect for a romantic stay. Plenty of hot water and the beds are very comfortable. We were given some tea and snacks on arrival, as well as a fantastic breakfast the next morning. They are extremely helpful and can arrange anything you need.

Violetta and her husband have created a lovely gem in a terrific location in Fes, close to major sites. She's an artist and they're both warm and friendly - and helpful. One possible caveat: steep, pretty narrow staircases and bunk beds in some rooms. The bunk beds are comfortable but the ladders are painted with a bit of a gloss. I was fine but be careful!

The Full Fes Experience at Dar Arsama We stayed three wonderful nights immersed deep in the Fes Medina. As an experience it was similar to the best we have had when we stay in a small bed & breakfast. Three features of our stay made it especially pleasant and rewarding: 1. This is a 400-year-old building that the owners have personally beautifully restored. The updating maintained the ambiance of a comfortable Moroccan house. 2. Our hosts and the location made the Medina work for us. a. The host met us on arrival at the main "blue" gate and escorted us to Dar Arsama. While it is deep in the Medina, it is located just off a main "street" and we had no trouble leaving and returning to it on our own. b. The Dar offers home made evening meals that are excellent and reasonably priced. We did this two nights and wished we had done that on the third night. c. Our host recommended an excellent guide who showed us the Medina and Fes. 3. As is true with most B&Bs we have enjoyed, the opportunity to get to know the owners adds much to the experience. We definitely enjoyed talking with the owners (Violeta and her husband) and the other guests. Cleanliness was impeccable. Breakfasts were very good and served in the roof-top garden. WiFi bandwidth was also very good. An excellent value for the money!

Dar Asrama is a lovingly restored historic guesthouse in the heart of the Fes Medina. Violeta and her husband kept many traditional decorative details and added modern updates. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The roof terrace is a gem with gardens and secluded seating areas. Breakfast was freshly prepared by her cook and delicious. Violeta and her staff were on hand to recommend and book activities. The two we took were a guided tour of the Medina and a hammam. Bothe we’re wonderful. I highly recommend Dar Asrama.

Look no further when you want to stay in Fes. This 400 year old Riad that has been restored by none other than the owner Violeta and her husband Adil. The couple are extraordinarily hospitable. They are such good cooks. They serve you a delicious hot dinner if you want. We didn't look for food outside as their food was so delicious and the spread was magnificent. The room was very clean and updated. A delicious and fresh breakfast spread is included in the cost of the room. Very strong wifi connection. The dinner is priced very reasonably for the spread and quality. The taste was priceless. They offer you laundry services for a very nominal charge as well. I highly recommend this riad. Look no further.

Maravilloso lugar, maravillosa experiencia con el cariño y la atención constante de sus propietarios Violeta y Adil, y en español! Los desayunos y las cenas imposibles de describir, una selección de sabores y texturas que no olvidaré. Camas comodísimas y limpieza impecable. Volveremos!!

Fue un viaje maravilloso. Para repetir. DAR ARSAMA. Riad familiar o individual en la Medina de Fez. Excelente Riad y excelentes personas. Perfecta relación calidad precio. Española y marroquí Violeta y Adil. Empatía, corazón y saber hacer. La ciudad Fez: preciosa e inolvidable.

Muy mala experiencia en el riad. Adil y violeta nos hacían un desayuno que me entraba cagalera por decirlo así. Seguidamente el primer día te manda un día a comer que es carísimo(para cobrar comisiones) luego el siguiente día lo mismo un guía que te come la cabeza enseñándote tonterías y llevándote a comer a lugares caros.

Acabamos de regresar de Fez y ya estoy deseando volver. Contactamos con Violeta, a través de una amiga en común y, aunque al principio lo que buscábamos era un guía para la ciudad, porque teníamos dónde dormir, acabamos cambiando los planes para alojarnos en su hotelito. Una casa familiar, rehabilitada y decorada con mucho esfuerzo y toda la ilusión por Violeta y su marido Adil. No tuvimos la suerte de conocer a Violeta, que no se encontraba en Fez en ese momento, pero estuvo pendiente de nosotras y fue súper amable desde el minuto uno. Creo que la experiencia que uno tenga en Fez depende mucho de las elecciones que haga y nosotras estamos más que satisfechas de haber elegido Dar Asama para alojarnos y haber contratado con ellos también al guía, los traslados al aeropuerto y las excursiones y experiencias. No tuvimos más que dejarnos llevar y disfrutar de nuestra estancia y eso era precisamente lo que buscábamos. Adil fue un perfecto anfitrión, muy atento y preocupado por nuestro bienestar, con el que pudimos conocer la ciudad, su cultura, su gastronomía y el calor de su gente. Jamal nos acompañó a conocer todos los rincones de esta caótica y a la vez enigmática ciudad y nos deleitó con sus explicaciones para que entendiéramos mucho más la forma de vida de la Medina y abriéramos los 5 sentidos para no sólo conocer Fez o recorrerla, sinó también sentirla, palpitar con ella. Sukraina e Ilham, las almas de la cocina del Dar, eran las encargadas de recibirnos cada mañana con un desayuno espectacular en la azotea de la casa, donde no se podía estar más a gusto. Dar Arsama se encuentra muy cerca de una de las arterias principales de la Medina y es un lugar acogedor y familiar donde sentirse como en casa sin estarlo. Gracias Violeta, Adil, Ilham y Sukraina por hacer de estos días, algo inolvidable que permanecerá en ese rinconcito del corazón donde se guardan los tesoros.
