Joy Island Maldives by Cocoon Collection

Joy island is small but beautiful. It's a joy to walk on the white sandy beaches and lanes and enjoy sitting on the personal loungers provided with each beach villa and just watch the waves on the indian ocean and enjoy the sea breeze. The staff are exceptional, extremely friendly and helpful from the top executive to the most junior member who keeps everything clean and tidy. They all stop to extend a greeting as you pass by. You get a welcome on arrival no matter what time of day (or night) as well a musical farewell on your departure. I've never experienced anything like that on any holiday exotic or otherwise before. Joy island is located on the North Atoll 40 minutes from Male airport. The speedboat picks you up at the jetty from the airport and that in itself is a joy to experience. Everyone apparently gets assigned an Island Host, ours was the lovely and ever patient Shify, she couldn't do enough, every problem that came her way she endeavoured to find a solution for it quickly and efficiently. Similarly our frienly and smily restaurant host Gautami always managed to find us a table with a cool breeze and great views of the ocean. Joy only opened in September 2023 so I think it is still probably finding its feet. In the luxury stakes it's not so great. Our stay in the Maldives was meant to be the end of a month long 5 star Asian cruise and stay - an icing on the cake - it wasn't. Having experience 5 star luxuries along the way it was a little dissapointing. The lounge/bar was large but the seating odd and uncomfortable, not conducive to spending several hours sitting wiling away the time reading or waiting for the 10pm entertainment to begin. The coaches are made of wood with an odd cushion arrangements and the chairs look so tiny. We wanted to but didn't find it comfortable to linger there too long. The food in the market (main restaurant) was pretty basic and bland, pasta sometimes a bit too al dante, the indian section was not authentic or appetising. The mixed salad concoctions were good though as was the caravan serving english food - burgers, fish and chips etc. A note, if you prefer tea with breakfast instead of coffee, order it well in advance or be prepared to wait 15-20 minutes for your pot of hot water, at one point I even offered to get it myself and it still didn't arrive so we we ended up walking out without our morning tea!. As with the lounge/bar area, the furniture and environment is designed to blend in with the tropical enviroment, wooden tables and chairs but the latter don't half make your bum ache if you have to sit for too long especially wearing shorts etc, may be that's the idea, they are not designed for lingering too long, just go eat and get out quickly. The main pool is fabulous. The pool is large and slowly deeps so it's great for swimmers and non-swimmers alike to enjoy the shallower end. Our experience in Joy island was absolutely amazing. The resort is new and highly maintained, the staff was extremely friendly, professional and helpful, the Market where the meals were served was superb offering a huge variety of dishes throughout the day every day, we especially liked the indian food corner and the superb fruit stand! The staff in the Market was so welcoming, and we can't thank them enough! Thank you Juni! The watersports staff was also great, patient and helpful and the fact that we could borrow the mask and fins for the whole stay was excellent. Habeeb, who was in charge of the volleyball, was so great and managed the game in an excellent way! We enjoyed the gym, padel, and tennis courts, which were highly maintained. The spa staff was also great offering so many treatments to choose from. We enjoyed both the beach villa and the water villa, the different beaches on the island were magical! Our host Shiyadh was great and helped us a great deal during our stay, although it could be easier to book the different activities online directly instead of asking him to do that for us each time. The snorkeling in the turtle island and coral garden was spectacular, and the staff was professional and kind! The Joy island was an absolute joy, and we enjoyed every minute there! ❤️

My wife and I went to Joy Island for our honeymoon. Not only was the island itself absolutely idyllic but the staff, facilities, food and excursions were also on a whole other level. This is by far the best all inclusive resort I have ever stayed at. The standards of quality and service are exceptional. The quality and variety of the buffet is the best we have ever experienced. We never once got tired of the food we were eating. The excursions were also so much fun - we did two snorkelling experiences and the fishing and had a great time. Thank you to the whole Joy Island staff for our memorable experience!

This trip far exceeded our high expectations, giving my family priceless memories. Absolutely everything was amazing including food and service. I would go back again in a heartbeat. Special thanks to Ashraf for taking amazing care of us from start to finish. Ted, Nazim, Aya, Shaha, and Musharraf kept all of us comfortable. I hope to get back soon!

This resort was the perfect getaway for our family. The resort is beautifully maintained and the rooms are beautifully decorated with everything you’d expect inside a 5⭐️resort hotel room. We stayed in a 2 brm water villa which was so spacious and perfect for our family of 2ads & 3 teens. Reservation was easy and reservation staff memeber Shifu was extremely efficient patient and honest with answeing all of my questions Easy transfer from Male by speedboat. Arrival & check in simple and efficient. Our island host Ashr took care of us from arrival to departure. Making sure that our villa was always clean, informed us about the activities in the resort each day so we didn’t miss a thing, encouraged & assisted us to make full use of the island’s facilities. Was always attentive to our needs. Nothing was too much trouble and he honestly made us feel like VIP guests for the whole stay. Restaurant and food are great .. lots of choice in the live cooking stations. Service is wonderful ! Entertainment at night is lovely. All the staff are friendly,. For a new resort the GM has put together a really good team of staff. The water & beach is spectacular ! I can 100pc recommend this resort to stay.

Just returned from a great 2 week family holiday to joy island. The family beach accommodation with older children (15,13& 11) was perfect as plenty of space and straight onto the white sand and clear waters! The all inclusive was limited to only buffet, this was disappointing as not obvious when booked. Buffet options were good but it did get busy at peak times. Payable beach and pizza restaurants were good as alternate options. Majority of staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you. However, the rainbow bar/pool area often was under staffed and you’d be waiting a while even to get a glass of water in the day! Watersports centre was great and plenty of activities to choose from, although all have a hefty charge (only paddle board, snorkel and kayaks were complimentary). Compared to other 5* resorts we have visited, I would say this is more 4* so if go with this in mind you will be more than happy! I’m sure as the resort is open longer they will get over any teething issues such a staff shortages. Would recommend but be aware that you’re likely to spend a lot on top to do other activities and eat Al La carte.

In December last year we came to the Joy Island. The weather wasn't as good as the one in April. This time Shiyadh is our island host and has impressed us with his attention to detail and efficiency. He has quickly responded with our request and kindly arranged my husband's 60th birthday celebrations. Adam, the buggy driver, is lovely immediately recognising us when coming to collect us from the lagoon water villa. The quality of food in the main restaurant which is called the Market has improved significantly. We commend the team led by Nazim in the Market on their great hospitality. Naahil and Raamy are always attentive, engaging and positive. We have already decided on booking the next holiday coming to this amazing island resort.

Probably one of the best experiences ever. The resort was beautiful, the staff were amazing and friendly. They made us feel so special! Everything was delicious at the market restaurant. The bed was comfortable and the views were amazing. We enjoyed it so much that if we can come back we would. There many staff that were amazing, but here a few names. Ms. Shaha, Ms Aya took care of our kids at the kid club. Mr. Ted was our waiter and Mr. Ashraf our butler. They were kind and amazing.

One of the best place for spending quality time with family / friends. The staffs are very hospitable. They make you feel at home. The food and drinks served in the island are delicious and I will be recommending the island to my friends. Special mention to Miss Neen & Mr Aravind for all the support provided.
