Pros: - Excellent location - Prompt service - Close proximity to public parking - Spacious room - Very clean - Great bathroom - Excellent water pressure - Lovely, comfortable 4-poster bed - TV was a good size - warm complementary cookies in the evening Cons: - A bit pricey, especially since there was no breakfast - TV was in an awkward place (on the side of the room, and was a bit obscured by the wall of the bathroom). To watch it, we had to lie in bed with our heads turned all the way to the right - lobby felt cluttered
We stayed four nights here in October and the location could not have been better. This allowed us to walk almost everywhere and have easy access to all activities. Pros: Breakfast had a mix of hot and cold items. It was enough to get your day started, but did become a little repetitive by our last morning. The beds were very comfortable. Staff response via the text message system was prompt. Nice wine and cheese snack hour provided each evening. Cons: We were originally provided room 112 which in order to access you had to walk through the valet driveway to the external room door on ground level. The windows also directly faced two outdoor tables in the front valet area. While the room was nicely appointed, within only a couple minutes it became quite apparent that every word being spoken by guests at the tables was able to be heard in the room as well as the car doors and door lock beeping from the valet area. We decided that this was going to make for an undesirably noisy stay and reached out via text to ask if another room was available. We were assisted promptly and moved to a third floor room in the Church street building across the street. While this provided a better stay for us, the room had a few blemishes such as a broken internal door lock, broken lamp and very very low water pressure. I did not report these as I was already told this was the only available room. I would suggest requesting a room in the Church street building when placing a reservation. House keeping was a little odd. They threw out anything open, but not empty which we found strange. For example, a half bottle of water and a full cup of coffee that was brought back with a lid from breakfast to save for later. We also overheard the housekeeping person have a complete melt down cussing and yelling while in the room next to ours. Overall, the accommodations are good but the location is what truly makes this hotel worth it.
We decided to take a family/business trip to Charleston SC, and after researching and reading the reviews, visiting the website, we decided to book with Hotel Bella Grace! A Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city!! We appreciate the attention to the interior details, custom fixtures and finishes in our room, this is very unique and thankfully Not the standard boring corporate design. The hotel location is walkable to shops and restaurants and they offer gated valet parking, who were always polite, friendly, and quick to get your car. The entire staff was very accommodating and friendly from answering questions and gave us suggestions for activities with our kids. The Service was outstanding and professional, check in and check out was excellent. The beaches are a short drive away, easy to drive to and find parking. Next door is a excellent restaurant,.fyi.. Our Room was spacious and clean. The staff was accommodating with any additional requests we needed. I highly recommend Hotel Bella Grace! We are planning on staying again soon!
Overall, clean place, friendly staff and decent breakfast. Some of our petty, yet disappointments: both end tables were sticky and had not been clean for a while; could not run fan all the time on hvac unit; flat pillows and no in room microwave. Also, for light sleepers, be sure to request top floor. We were on second floor and could hear kids running and doors slamming all night. Would not hesitate to stay there again knowing these things.
BB BMarch 2024 Staying for a visit with family on John’s Island. Very convenient, front desk staff very nice, large rooms, older hotel but clean with well stocked rooms. Breakfast provided, plenty of choices, food typical. Upon arrival you are told and written that there will be NO room service unless asked for so needless to say we were quite surprised when a woman came barging into our room the first morning, clearly with a pass key. She had no “normal” housekeeping cart with her, only a trash bin with what looked like a bag of some supplies. No identification or housekeeping clothing on. Could not speak any English to even explain why she was standing in our room. Needless to say she was escorted out. Second day it happened again but did not enter, only a slight knock. Front desk was notified both days. They were very apologetic explaining, new employees in training , no English etc. I get it but in this day and time it was quite unsettling to say the least not to mention a little sketchy. Just a reminder to lock up and protect your valuables, everywhere. Hopefully the hotel is diligently working to remedy this. Special note, for some reason there is a 2-3 in gap between the room door and the floor. Might want to take a towel and stuff under the door for extra privacy, safety etc. Very weird. Overall, financially it was fine. Will we stay there again? Not sure yet.
