Very attentive and polite staff, great decor containing some amazing art, and blessed with the most incredible view across the bay. Very relaxing wonderful pool and bar area. … only why on earth is a 5 star hotel charging a €9 supplement at breakfast for eggs? (2 boiled, scrambled or omelette??!!) 🤷🏻‍♂️

The hotel is beautiful; however, I would not recommend and would not go back. FYI (decide for yourself): - Screaming children at the pool every day, all day. If you have screaming children, I assume this is a pro. For us, a con. - There are charges for many things which was unexpected given its a 5* hotel, for example 9 euros additional for eggs, 20+ euro for shuttle to town, 20+ euro for beach chairs. Cons: - Concierge!!: 1) 1 one month before arriving I asked the hotel to arrange a dinner reservation for us on our last night. They did. On the day of the reservation, the restaurant called the hotel to confirm, the hotel called us, and we said yes, we're going. The hotel did NOT call the restaurant back to confirm. So, we drove 20 min to the restaurant where they explained they did not have space for us. La Villa had several times (including night prior) made reservations for guests who did not honor them at this restaurant which is a small operation. After standing there awkwardly for 45 minutes calling the hotel and restaurant, the restaurant was kind enough to accommodate us at a make-shift table. 2) The day prior, we asked the hotel to arrange a reservation for us in the morning. They did not call us until 6pm (why did this take all day). When they called they said its not possible, there is no space. We walked right up to the restaurant and were seated immediately. 3) Another restaurant recommendation we got was not good (less bothered by this as its subjective). - Screaming children Pros/highlights: - lunch at hotel pool - cocktails - breakfast each morning - views, cleanliness - received a free room upgrade due to a cancellation - free parking and EV charging

Beautiful hotel with the great location. Great views from different parts of the hotel. Big, clean and comfortable rooms. Charming pool area and exercise area.Impressive art through all halls of the hotel.

We loved this hotel. Perfect location and great views, charming and attentive staff, beautifully furnished cottage, good food offering and great ambiance. We loved the art all around the public rooms. And they were very helpful with looking after us with a late checkout. It’s about a 20 minute walk downhill into Calvi but they do have a shuttle to drop you and pick you up. Only one very minor gripe is that the food at dinner, whilst still good, was not quite up to the standards of the rest of the hotel. Maybe I’m a bit cross because the waiter whisked of our wine before we’d finished it! Good breakfast. But overall a great experiences.

We stayed three nights. The hotel is located about seven minutes from the port and about ten minutes from the beach. Pictures on their website make it seem that the hotel is very close to the beach. The view of the sea is, consequently, somewhat in the distance. We were initially given an upgrade to a suite, but the room had no citadel view, and only a view of the sea obstructed by a wall. We had booked a sea and citadel view room because that is what we wanted after studying the room categories. We were moved to a room on the ground floor in front of the cold water pool, where our view was somewhat obstructed by the wall enclosing the pool. We accepted it, though. The room was sizable and nice, although not what I would call luxurious. There were enough outlets, but it needed more light. The shower was very good, as were towels, amenities, the bed, and bedding. Breakfast was in a lovely open area overlooking the sea. We were told there was a shuttle available and we used it to go to dinner one night and to the hotel’s beach site. There, we were led to lounge chairs. We had lunch there. When we were given the bill, we noticed a charge of €50 which, we were told, was for the lounge chairs. We objected, indicating that at no time had anyone told us that the hotel’s own beach area charged for this. Our waitress expressed surprise that we’d not been told. We spoke to the person at the front desk when we returned and registered our displeasure at the surprise charge. We were told that is their policy. We asked to speak to the manager, and I said I wanted to give the hotel an opportunity to remedy this situation before we got home and mentioned it to our travel agent and TripAdvisor. We ultimately requested to speak with the manager four times, and ran through our complaint with several people at the desk. When we got our bill, we noticed that the hotel also charged €18 for each shuttle ride. We had also never been told of this. We had a rental car which we’d been driving for the past ten days on Corsica, and would’ve opted for that had we known about the charge. Again, we were simply told that is what the hotel does. Suffice it to say, we never heard from the manager, and the charges for the chairs and the shuttle were never adjusted. All we got was front desk staff who seemed totally indifferent to our position that we are ok paying for whatever we have notice of, but decidedly not ok paying for surprise charges that, in fact, are customarily provided on a complimentary basis at all the finer hotels I have stayed in around the world. This was an unsatisfying end to our stay at this property and made us feel as though their attitude is we were lucky to be there. This is not hospitality. We would definitely not stay here again and would not recommend it.

Stayed three nights. Quite a beautiful setting, room was great, pools very nice, decent food. They seem to have a lot of rules about when stuff is open etc. in the French style. I would prefer more freedom for the price paid. For example, after 2 PM you have a very limited menu to order from. Gym hours were very short. Book said there was a hammam but the spa staff chased us out when we went looking for the hammam one day. You definitely need a car to get to Calvi, free parking is available. Watch out for the maids. They threw away not one, but two of my contact lens cases, leaving me without a case to store my contact lenses in at night. Being France, no 24 hr pharmacy or convenience store to run to! The reception did eventually find a solution, which I believe was an actual staff member’s spare case. Really unacceptable for the maids to do this. They should know to leave these items alone. No compensation or explaining was given regarding this the next day. Having stayed at other relais and chateaux, this place did not feel up to the label.
