Hotel Van Cleef

This hotel is magnificent from the time you pull up to the front door. Our uber arrived and we were met outside by Lukas who assisted in removing our luggage and bringing it into the hotel. It was stunning, so welcoming and felt immediately we picked the right place. Lukas checked us in, went over a map of Bruges with recommendations for where to go and more importantly dining options. He then went to take us on a tour of the hotel, and I noticed our luggage was already gone and taken to our room. Really nice after several hours of travelling. He then welcomed up to the patio deck overlooking the canal and made up a welcome drink and some snacks. The rooms are excellent with a jacuzzi tub and standalone shower and great amenities. The bed and room were beautifully decorated and amazingly comfortable, love the robes! The hotel owner Frederick was so welcoming as well and always checking in to make sure there were no issues and if he could be of any help. Also, every day we saw Rebecca the front office manager, again, extremely helpful and the team at this hotel really made us enjoy our stay. Recommend you also do breakfast; the pastries are delicious, and the waffles are crisp and so light. Also, try the eggs benedict. We were getting ready after 4 days to go on to Amsterdam. We were a bit tired, and I didn't want to deal with two trains to get there. Frederick arranged for a car service to take us to Amsterdam for the next day and the company was excellent. We had a smooth ride in a beautiful Mercedes that basically added to the amazing experience at this hotel. We have already recommended it to someone who will be in Bruges in the coming weeks, and they will also be staying there. 100% recommend it is truly a boutique hotel and a must if you want an amazing stay in Bruges. Also, all the restaurants and places to visit they mentioned were perfect.

Hotel van Cleef is exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed our time there a great deal. The excellent hospitality began immediatley when Lucas met us in the lobby. The hotel is beaufiful. The common spaces are interesting and vibrant. Our room was large and comfortable. The terrace view of the canal is spectacular; perfect for drinks in the evening and coffee in the morning. The staff was friendly and accomodating. We spent time talking to the owners and their son. They are understandably proud of their hotel. I recommend Hotel van Cleef enthusiastically.

What a fabulous place to stay. Five mins walking from the tourist bits. Very quiet location on the canal and THE best service. We were welcomed by Sebastian who took time to explained the hotel, the location and ask if he could help with dinner reservations. The hotel is beautifully designed and has 27 rooms. Ours was more or less perfect, comfortable, a view of the canal through the small round window. Very little disturbance from others. Breakfast, whilst not included (which I hadn’t checked when I booked), was an experience in itself and wonderfully prepress and presented. Not cheap but didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Will definitely stay again. We are at Rock Fork (just around the corner) which was excellent food and service wise, just a little lacking atmosphere; In the Mood ( a new ish place, and very cool) which was fun just a little chilly as the weather was unseasonably cold; and Julia’s, a very cool restaurant, which got very busy, but the food was good (service from the Maitre’d a bit weird).

Our first visit to Bruges. Loved our 3 night stay. Great central location with on site parking. First class service including a historical tour of the hotel before you are taken to your room. Our room was very well apointed with everything you expect in a luxury hotel.

We found this great hotel during an online search. We had a suite, which was quite large by usual hotel standards. The hosts and staff are extremely professional and personable as well. The decor of the hotel is spot on, with both outdoor and indoor venues to just sit and relax. Continental breakfast is an extra cost option, and there are additional a la carte items at additional cost. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict, if you are so inclined. Evening cocktails in the bar or on the terrace are a must. The clientele is quite cosmopolitan and, as might be expected, well- traveled. We would certainly return for another visit.

Upon on arrival we were greeted by Rebecca who was extremely helpful and polite. Our room was a luxury room which was spotless, large and beautiful decor. The hotel is done to a high standard with lovely furnishings. The terrace overlooking the canal is perfect for relaxing with a cocktail where Benjamin really looked after us. Breakfast is amazing with such a variety of continental & the Eggs Benedict is perfect. All the staff were amazing & made you feel very welcome. We had an amazing stay & we will definitely come & stay again.

We were in Bruges for two nights and Hotel Van Cleef was a beautiful, convenient place to be based out of. Close walk to everything, but a little off the main tourist track. Our room, a canal facing suite, was fantastic, big, sunny, great views, great bed. The breakfast in the morning was very satisfying. My husband opted to add at additional cost a hot component (poached eggs) which he said were perfectly cooked both mornings. I stayed with included cold breakfast - an ample plate of pastries, breads, fruits, cheeses, meats, juices and coffee set up at our table. Complete A+ for breakfast service. I encourage anyone to spend a few nights in Bruges, the town changes after the day tourists head home and is even more enjoyable than the daytime.

The hotel is visually gorgeous and the staff could not have been more welcoming, professional and helpful. The hotel is situated right on a canal in a quiet part of the old city, just a few minutes from the center. The breakfast was amazing! We can’t wait to return!

The wife and husband team are AMAZING! Pascale’s designs are exciting, exuberant and comfortable. Frederick is warm, thoughtful and generous. They’ve put together a marvelous team whose food and exploring experiences are spot on. When train and car rentals from Paris were booked they suggested a private car….door to door service at only slightly more than 1st class costs for the other two. When traveling to Europe DO come here. It’s location is worth the history, convenience, comfort and rest.
