Magoebaskloof hotel is an absolute gem! We were treated to welcome dinks, snacks and an amazing bouquet of flowers in the room. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The hotel has a charming air of a bygone era with dramatic views over the indigenous forests. The trails in the forest allow one to be immersed in all that nature has to offer. Highly recomended! This was a three night stopover between the Natal Drakensberg and the Kruger National Park. Location is good on the main road (but very little traffic after dark so no disturbance) and there are great views of surrounding forests and mountains. We dined in the restaurant a couple of times - great service, good food and the local Zwakala beer is recommended. Good pool. We saw purple crested louries in the trees. Good base for excursions including Magoebaskloof Canopy Tours rafting and zip wires (both great fun). The self catering equipment was a little basic but OK.
