Arch House B&B & Apartments

We were travelling through to Dublin and chanced across Athlone on the way. We were very lucky to find d this B&B. The manager was very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and well equipped, and the shower was great! We had a great sleep in the very comfortable bed. The tea and coffee provisions were great. We ate across the street at the Dark Horse which was also just as good. Highly recommend both

We had a great stay here, there were a couple of problems on the first morning which we mentioned at breakfast and they were rectified there and then, so nice to see owners reacting so promptly. I was even called later in the day to see if all was okay as they wanted us to enjoy our week there. I have nothing but the highest praise for this B&B. We stayed in the apar**ent and it was immaculately clean. We tried the breakfast only the once as we were out and about early but the breakfast was very nice indeed. I would recommend staying here in a heartbeat. Thank you for a great stay.

Fabulous apar**ent's staff are so friendly and helpful great town I'd really recommend staying here as the people who run the apar**ent's are lovely and so welcoming and great for kids and there's loads to do in the town also.

Booked a 2 night stay for three couples for my boyfriends’s 30th birthday. A lady called me to take the deposit and advised me that we’d be in a 3 bedroom apar**ent. I then received a call on Saturday morning asking what time we’d arrive and was advised that we instead have a 2 bedroom apar**ent and one of the couples will be staying in a B&B which is a 1 minute walk up the street. I was annoyed by this and when I queried it I was told “I don’t know why she promised you that” and no attempt was made to find us a 3 bed apar**ent. Turns out the 2 bed apar**ent had enough beds to sleep 6 but we were not told this so ended up booking an extra room for no reason. I don’t see why we were promised something and did not receive it and unapologetically at that!

Central location within walking distance to everything. Lovely clean, well presented, friendly place to stay. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and accomodating. We only had a room and no breakfast as we didn't realise when booking through *********** that this was additional and not included. Overall a very lovely place to stay.

Note that this is a review of the apar**ent in a separate, residential building 130 meters up the road and NOT in the main Arch House B&B building. The apar**ent offered good comfort of stay, lots of space and great value for money for our group of 5. The location was good too, close to restaurants and cafes. The kitchen was well equipped so we could make some breakfast before departing in the morning. Check in and check out were quick. Very quick. We liked how private the apar**ent was with seemingly no neighbours so we could chat away in the evening knowing that we won't disturb anyone. Good value too. Now on the negative note, check in experience was bad. I understand that it's a small business and the staff don't want to wait around for guests to arrive but if your check in times are clearly defined on *********** (3pm to 10pm), I didn't know we needed to inform you precisely what time we will arrive. So on the afternoon of check in I received a phone call which nobody on holidays likes to receive - "what time are you checking in?". When you're on a road trip with a family of 5, trying to enjoy yourself without worry, last thing on your mind is to think about precise check in time especially given how hard it is to predict how long it will take to visit attractions on the way etc. We were struggling with reception on the way too which stressed me out but I finally managed to notify them about the arrival time through *********** message later in the evening. Although admittedly we were 15 minutes late, the check in was very rushed and we didn't feel too welcome. I had to quickly follow the man to the apar**ent block which was a minute or two walk away from the B&B premises where we parked our car. Rest of the gang had to stay behind unloading the car cause of all the rush. I was led to the building main door, given the keys and bye bye, go up the stairs and left. I wanted to ask about dining options in the area but when Supermacs was suggested as an option for breakfast I gave up. You'd expect to be shown to the apar**ent and for the staff to make themselves available to answer potential questions and instead I felt like we were an inconvenience that had to be dealt with asap. For example the front door zapper needs to be placed in a specific way on the reader which I was not told about and for a moment I thought it wasn't working after the man left. Thankfully there was a kind person coming in who showed me how to do it. Not a good start of a stay when all you want is to be able to relax a bit and feel welcome. This review could be 4 or even 5 stars cause everything else was very good...

We celebrated a hens at the Arch House apar**ents at the beginning of April. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious for a large gathering. We had 22 in our party and were all very happy with the service. Maureen was such a huge help in organising the hens from my first email with her to the week of the hens. Everything ran so smoothly across the the whole weekend. We had a great boat trip on the river run cruise, a cocktail class at the snug and a delicious dinner in Bacchus as well as a great night of dancing in the Piano Bar. Would highly recommend staying here as all staff were very welcoming and helpful.

I had a company accommodation at arch houses. The place was very neat and clear. Staff are very supportive. Everything was available in the unit including kitchen accessories. Special thanks to Mohammed and team for providing such a good support during our stay. Thanks to Maureen and Chris for picking my call during off hours. It was a great stay.
