Upon arrival, check-in at reception was smooth. We were provided with our room key and directed to our accommodation, which required us to drive to the other side of the estate. However, when we reached the room, the key did not work. We walked back to reception, where we were informed that a network issue had prevented the key from being properly programmed. The receptionist, who was very helpful, offered to accompany us to the room and opened it using a master key. She assured us that a functioning key would be delivered as soon as the network was restored. Upon entering the room, we immediately noticed that it had not been cleaned. The window sill was sticky with what appeared to be beverage spills, the floor was dirty, the bathroom mats were not fresh, and most concerning, there were rat droppings on the window sill, on the floor behind the curtains, and behind the door. I contacted reception to request housekeeping and asked to speak with a manager, as the condition of the room was unacceptable. A housekeeping staff member arrived, but I requested that cleaning not proceed until the housekeeping manager assessed the situation. The manager quickly confirmed that the room had indeed not been cleaned and that there were clear signs of rodent activity. She apologised sincerely, asked us to wait while the room was cleaned, and said she would escalate the matter to the rooms division. While waiting on the terrace outside, we noticed a mouse in the bushes, which explained the droppings found inside. After the room was cleaned, the manager returned, apologised again, and informed us that a complimentary bottle of wine had been arranged for us. We told her about the mouse we had seen and expressed that we did not feel comfortable staying in that room. She went back to speak with the rooms division, and we waited in the bar. An hour later, she returned with keys to a new room and directed us there. The replacement room was clean, though the entire experience made for a rocky start to our stay. The following day, after breakfast, we returned to our room to find that the terrace doors had been removed and two maintenance staff were working. This came as an unexpected surprise, as no one had informed us that repairs would be taking place. We decided to return to the bar to allow the work to be completed. As we were celebrating a birthday that day, the housekeeping manager kindly arranged for our room to be decorated with a birthday message. From that point onward, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to the exceptional customer service at the restaurants, bars, and spa. In particular, we would like to recognise Moses, Regal, and Tebogo at Kingsley Restaurant; Sibongile at Granatas; and Mandy at the spa for their outstanding hospitality. They truly made our stay memorable. Overall, despite the challenges we experienced upon arrival, we had a lovely stay. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making my mother’s birthday special.

Airport Inn provides basic accommodation. It is slightly run down, but it is clean and the room we were in had all required amenities. Food is reasonably priced. For an overnight stay close to the airport, it is perfectly adequate.

I've never been at a better hotel my whole life. Trust me, the hotel is such a ”Wow!” I will definitely go there for my honeymoon, from Zambia! The location is superb, so close to the airport. Shuttle from the airport and to the airport is free!

I had an outstanding stay at The Catalyst Hotel in Sandton. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming, making the check-in process smooth and effortless. The rooms are modern, stylish, and impeccably clean, with comfortable beds and thoughtful amenities that made it easy to relax after a long day. The attention to detail throughout the hotel is impressive, creating a luxurious yet comfortable atmosphere. One of the biggest highlights is the hotel’s excellent location. It’s conveniently situated close to Sandton City, Nelson Mandela Square, and the Gautrain, making it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travellers. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of fresh, delicious options, and every meal I had at the restaurant was of excellent quality. The facilities, including the gym, pool, and spa, are well maintained and add tremendous value to the overall experience. What truly sets The Catalyst apart is the exceptional customer service. Every member of staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable, always greeting guests with a smile and a willingness to help. I recently stayed for a couple of nights, and overall, it was an average experience. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff was friendly, which I appreciated. However, the room itself could have been a bit more updated. While it was clean, the furnishings seemed a little worn, and the bathroom, although functional, had some minor issues like a leaky faucet. The bed was comfortable enough, but I did find it a bit harder than I prefer. The hotel amenities were standard—there was a gym and a small pool, though I didn't have time to use either. The Wi-Fi worked fine, and I didn't encounter any issues with the air conditioning or heating during my stay. One thing that stood out was the location. It was pretty convenient for my needs, close to a few restaurants and shops, though not overly special. I was hoping for a bit more from the hotel's restaurant, as the menu was somewhat limited and the food was just okay. In short, it wasn’t a bad stay, but it didn’t blow me away either. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep without expecting anything extraordinary, this hotel will do the job.

Hotel is rated at 5star but the amenities are quite average. The standard king size room is smaller than I have experience in some other hotels if that range. You do not find water glasses in the room. Room service is very slow and sometimes your call will just keep transferring between room service and reception if you needed something. If you ordered food in your room, you have to make payment immediately. It does not amount up to check out. There is only one restaurant, one cafe in the hotel. You can walk up to nearest restaurant for your food that is 800m away.Pool is there but you have to carry your own towel. The day we arrived, there was a birthday party around the pool with loud music. We avoided going to pool side. Shoe shiner is in the lobby and if you get your shoes cleaned he needs to be paid as compliment and that complement begins with 100rand minimum. To me it’s an average hotel and ok for a couple of days. It had some conference going on so extra crowd was also in the lobby for the two days we stayed If you are looking for a luxery experience, better choose another hotel. This hotel is ok for not more than two days of stay.
