This place makes me wish there was an option for six stars. I study Asian art for a living, and I travelled to Jianyang to visit the home of Jian ware, classic tea bowls of the Song dynasty (960 to 1279 CE), distinguished by their black and brown glazes. Over the last few decades, firing Jian ware in the Song tradition has been revived in the area. I chose Nanping Colourful Village Homestay because it was in Jianyang, affordable, and accepted international guests. What I found was a luxury resort with all the warmth and personal attention of a homestay. I asked the front desk about an excavated Song kiln site in a nearby village, and the receptionist brought me the manager, who arranged for someone to take me the next day. My driver was Ms. Huang, an employee of the resort whose job involves buying and selling contemporary pieces. She knew everything about Jian ware! The kiln site isn’t run as a tourist site, so I was only able to view it because Ms. Huang arranged for it to be opened for me. I had told them I was vegetarian, so for lunch they took me to lunch at a vegetarian buffet. Then we visited the town’s Jian ware museum, where they have exhibits on the history of tea and Jian ware, historical pieces, and the work of contemporary Jianyang potters. To my delight, Mr. Gao, the potter-in-residence at the resort, uses a Song-style wood-fired dragon kiln, built right on the grounds! His pieces that range from beautiful but quite affordable to exquisite and appropriately expensive. They include both iridescent silvery oil spot and orange-to-black hare’s fur pieces. I am still thrilled that I was able to purchase wood-fired pieces on my limited budget. For dinner, the resort’s restaurant prepared vegetarian versions of Fujian cuisine for me. The food was all delicious, featuring classic Fujianese mountain ingredients like local bamboo and mushrooms. Then we visited Mr. Gao’s dragon kiln, and later his studio, where he experiments with different local clays and glaze recipes. The rich colours and iridescence of Jian ware are the result of the iron-rich local material fired at high temperature, and the results are as unpredictable as they are beautiful. The next day, they drove me to Mr. Chen’s family tea plantation in the mountains, where they grow famous northern Fujian teas. These fine teas were all wonderful, smooth and rich with a touch of smoke, and sometimes fruity in flavour. We strolled through mountainsides of tea bushes and visited groves of centuries-old tea trees. This is a perfect place for an immersive experience in China that is also very comfortable and convenient. I often find tourist experiences in China claustrophobic due to the press of people, but the resort was spacious and airy, and they took me to places where there was no one else but us and the occasional local going about their business. Everyone was very patient with my limited Chinese language skills. They were also happy to work with translator apps on our phones, so if you don’t speak any Chinese, you will be fine. This would be a great place to come as a family. There are gardens and rides for kids right next to the resort. You can learn how to whip Song-style tea and carve your name into the base of your own Jian ware cup. Not far away is a historical theme park with a collection of real architecture from the Ming (1368 to 1644 CE) and Qing (1636 to 1912 CE) dynasties. The employees wear period dress and there are performances and activities. Nearby there are hiking trails, historical sites, and lovely villages to visit. It’s also very close to Wuyi Mountain National Park, so it would be a perfect place to stay if the mountains are your destination. If you ask, they could arrange for you to visit famous sites or take you to breathtaking places that only locals know, whatever you want. They can also arrange transport to and from the train station or airport.

第二次到廈門，選的這家老牌五星級酒店入住，價格適中，離蔡塘地鐵站很近，地鐵公交出行都方便，附近應該正在修路之類所以人流比較少。前台小姐姐服務很好幫忙升級房間和寄存行李。酒店樓下就有海鮮餐廳挺實惠好吃。大床房間不算大，看得出是開業有些年份了，有些設施比較舊了，相對我住過的其他五星級有幾個小小不足:1、房間插座比較少而且有些老化鬆動，尤其床頭只有一側插座充電不太方便。2、沒有浴室拖鞋或者防滑墊，洗澡時要格外小心滑倒。3、洗手枱建議放多一盒紙巾和垃圾桶會更加方便。（不過整體不影響入住，性價比還是不錯的）

ทำเลดีมาก 100/10 ติดถนนคนเดินจงซานและห้างขนาดใหญ่ ลงจากห้องพักแล้วเดินเล่นกินช็อปถึงกันได้ตลอด มองเห็นถนนคนเดินได้จากหน้าต่างห้องพักเลย เดินทางจากสนามบินใช้เวลาแปปเดียว 20-30 นาที Didi จะจอดหลัง รร ต้องสังเกตป้ายโรงแรมดีๆไม่งั้นอาจจะเข้าผิด บังคับใช้ลิฟต์ตัวเดิม , รร มี 2 ประตูด้านหน้าติดถนนคนเดิน(รถเข้าไม่ได้) ด้านหลังติดถนนและห้าง ต้องเรียกรถจุดนี้ เราพักผู้ใหญ่ 3 คน แต่เลือกจองเป็นห้องไทป์ใหญ่สุด สำหรับพักสี่คน จะมี 2ห้องนอน และ 2ห้องน้ำ พื้นที่ใหญ่ ห้องเริ่มโทรมชำรุดบ้างตามผนังต่างๆ หน้าต่างเปิดปิดยาก ลิฟต์มีตัวเดียว ค่อนข้างช้ามาก ต้องยืนรอนาน จังหวะคนเช็คเอาท์พร้อมกันคนแน่นมากๆๆๆๆ ต้องเบียดกันลงเลย โดยรวมเหมาะสมสำหรับคนที่ชอบทำเล รร ที่ติดถนนคนเดิน คนพลุกพล่าน

This hotel came across as a total gem, and we give it our warmest recommendations. The tasteful architecture, well kept beautiful gardens, swimming pool and cool cafe/breakfast room/bar area and wonderful rooms deserves the attention of many more! The interior of rooms completely new, modern and fresh. Our double ”executive room” had an interesting layout with living room area, then into bath and clothes area (with separate toilet, separate shower and bathtub) and then sleeping area slightly elevated Japanese style bed with another great chair to relax by the floor to ceiling window. Broad balcony all along the unit looking into the elegant garden and some view beyond. We got a bottle of very good red wine in the evening, and perfect coffees every morning with the otherwise fully Chinese breakfast. But I saved the best for last - the service!! It seemed run by a family of three generations, all charming. As I do not speak adequate Chinese, when my telephone rang I gave it to the reception lady. She solved the matter and then went on to address a number of digital issues that she understood plagued my expat existence, spending more than an hour on it and volunteering to continue later, helped my husband too. Ticket booking and info searches at high and efficient speed. I have never experienced such spirit of true service as a hotel guest and it made my life easier and our stay even more pleasant. As for the location of the hotel it is very calm, 350 meters from the most wonderful temple I have visited outside of Beijing, Nan Pu Tuo. Hotel is a 15 minute walk down to Shapowei with its bustling eating, shopping and nightlife. in the hot season I'd probably take a Didi back up to the hotel, but in the spring weather the walk was a piece of cake. We were happy to have chosen the calmly situated hotel to retreat to, observing local life on the way, after visits to the various bustling, people-packed areas of the city.

04* property with nice hotel and clean. Room spacious. The staff doesn't speak well English but their service is very good. The location is quick convenient with Flower shop, pastry shop , restaurant and convenient store within 50meter walking distance.

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed every moment here. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the view was absolutely beautiful, especially looking out toward the beach—it was exactly as shown and completely worth it 🌊✨ The place is very kid-friendly, which made our stay even more comfortable as a family. The service was outstanding—thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely caring. A special highlight was the afternoon tea and evening snacks thoughtfully placed on our door handle. It was such a lovely surprise and really showed how much attention the team puts into small details. We absolutely loved this thoughtful touch 💛 Although the weather wasn’t very favorable during our stay, we still enjoyed relaxing by the window, taking in the sea view, and feeling the calm atmosphere. Even on a cloudy day, the experience was peaceful and enjoyable. Breakfast was another big plus—delicious, satisfying, and generous, leaving us happily full and ready for the day 😄 Overall, this stay exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for families and anyone looking for comfort, great service, and a beautiful seaside experience. We truly appreciate the care and effort from the entire team and would love to visit again!

Hotel is located in the old town and within walking distance to the street for hailing the cab. They also provide shuttle service to the east gate of the old town. The old town is very charming and pleasant to explore, shop and eat. The hotel room is very clean and tidy. Room outside has balcony to overlook the street. The staff are very helpful to attend our questions, especially provide clear instructions to get to the hotel. We enjoy our stay very much.
