We stepped into the mercantile premises and back into the past. The little store was filled with older things. Jello, tobacco, corsets; you name it, the Ryan’s sold it!
This has been very nicely restored to an earlier era and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the town and the "truck" or trade system that was used here.
Was wonderful to visit this site. The two interpreters were so friendly and knowledgeable we enjoyed it immensely. So great to see all the "wares" offered for sale!!!
This was the only place in Newfoundland that we encountered someone working who wasn't exceptionally friendly. Don't know if she was having an off day or what, but she didn't make us want to hang arou...
