High-altitude Lake Cluster: A Hidden Spectacular Sight in Yunnan

Nanjiluo, located in Achidaga Village, Badi Township, Weixi Lisu Autonomous County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, is a high-altitude wetland lake cluster that has not been heavily developed, known as 'the tears God left on earth'. This hidden place attracts many outdoor enthusiasts with its unique natural scenery and rich ecological resources. Transportation Guide: Self-driving is a convenient way to get to Nanjiluo. It is about 240km from Shangri-La, estimated 5 hours drive; from Lijiang, it is 340km, about 6 hours drive. However, it should be noted that currently, foreign vehicles are not allowed to enter Nanjiluo directly. Self-driving tourists need to arrive at Achidaga Village and contact local drivers to take a shuttle bus to the starting point of the hike, with a round-trip cost of 300$/person. Recommended Hiking Routes: 1. Light hiking route: Start from Lake No.3, go to Lakes No.4 and No.5 and return, the whole journey is about 4km, takes 2-3 hours, with the highest altitude of 4200m. 2. Intermediate hiking route (big loop): Also start from Lake No.3, go to Lakes No.4 to No.9, need to cross the high-altitude ridge line, round trip 7km, complete in one day, with the highest altitude of 4400m. 3. Advanced hiking route: Go to Lakes No.10 to No.12, the most difficult, also takes a day. Accommodation Suggestions: Preferably stay in Badi Township with better facilities, drive 8km to Achidaga Village the next day to wait for the shuttle bus. Note that the distance from the village committee pick-up point to the hiking point is 28km, about 1h40min drive, the road conditions include cement road and gravel road. Recommended Visiting Time: - May to June, the mountain is covered with snow, the lake is icy, like being in Iceland; - July to October is the best hiking period, with clouds and mist, the scenery after summer rain is as beautiful as Switzerland; - The scenic area is not open to the public in winter.
