Backstage Boutique Spa Hotel

We were at the Backstage Hotel 3 nights in July 2022. It is truly one of the most unique places we've ever stayed. Well-located, with quirky and fabulous design elements. Our Cube Loft room was visually stunning and we enjoyed staying there, although we never quite figured out how to get the lights very bright (probably operator error). The food was amazing, we enjoyed breakfast and dinner there. The hotel staff were charming and friendly, as was Heinz. We were excited to visit the Creation spa, but we were underwhelmed. It's much more of a meditation place - nice, if you're into it. We did enjoy the outdoor hot tub and had a very nice massage. It was hot while we were there, but the room had a well-functioning mini-split AC. Our room (#201) had a view of the building next door, not great. Next time would seek a room with a view of the Matterhorn. When we come back to Zermatt, we would definitely stay here again!

We booked the unique "cottage" room on the river. We had a temporary setback with the door lock. (which cost us a couple hours) Daniel and staff treated us with respect and dignity. We have decided to return this winter instead of going to Whistler, and can't wait to stay at this hotel again! Thank you again Daniel for your hospitality ! Best regards, Joe and Jenn

The room is cool but the lobby is cooler with the Michelin Star restaurant. The view is magnificent. The spa is one of a kind. The deal breaker is the staff. Starting from receptionist until restaurant manager are not in the position of being the face of such a beautiful property. From the check in process until the dinner time, the staff were not giving us warm welcome. Especially during the dinner time, Margaux is a terrible restaurant manager. Little did we know, the restaurant in the lobby was awarded as 2 Michelin Star Restaurant. Margaux forgot to concern about our allergies we mentioned and kept rushing back to ask something to Chef Flo who looks very patient with everyone. We were thinking that she is some sort of new team member since she looks lost of what she is doing. One of our friends who owned a restaurant in Zermatt told about this restaurant always have problem with new staff because nobody want to stay longer. Unfortunately, Chef Flo wasn’t there when we finished the dinner to give our feedback directly with him, so we asked Margaux if we can meet the manager and awkwardly she said she is the manager. What a surprise! But not a surprise this restaurant lost its star. It’s all about experience not just the amazing food. Apart from her attitude during the dinner, overall our stay were pleasant and will definitely booked the room but not the dinner the Michelin Star restaurant. Regards from Spain

Really wonderful boutique hotel in the center of Zermatt. Our room had a view of the Matterhorn. Good sized rooms and very well equipped with excellent quality sheet and towels. Loved the outdoor spa area which was very unique and well laid out. Great breakfast and the staff could not be more helpful.

You can’t go wrong by staying here! The vibe of the whole place is artsy yet elegant. We stayed in The Cube room and can really appreciate all of the details in the custom metal work all over the room. The owner/artist really thought of all of the details from storage to door placement in the bathroom. This may be one of best designed rooms we have ever stayed in all of Europe. I also can’t say enough about the location which is conveniently located off the main street and walkable everywhere. Migros supermarket is next door which adds to its convenience. As if this isn’t enough, the breakfast is excellent and the spa is calmingly relaxing. We loved Zermatt and will stay here next time we are back!

Amazing venue! Great vibes and highly recommend the bar tender Eros. Made us feel so welcomed and the drinks were incredible. 10/10 service and would come back every night if I could. I encourage everyone to stay at backstage or at least come to the bar for drink with Eros.

Very special boutique style hotel great location in the heart of the action!

Hotel was amazing all around. The cocktail bar downstairs was absolutely incredible! An experience in and of itself which I HIGHLY recommend. The drinks were one of a kind. Unique, tastefully made with surprising touches all around. Eros (our bartender) was fantastic. Could not have been more welcoming. The drink list has a few selections you can only see with a dark light flashlight and some of the drinks he made came out on fire, dry ice with torches, marshmallows, tikis, so so fun. You’ve got to got to check out this cocktail bar while in Zermatt. You won’t regret it!

This is such a lovely different designer boutique hotel; apart from the amazingly unique design features (and amazingly unique rooms, I choose the River Room due to travelling with a dog) the service is what completely also excels at thr backstage hotel, Vernissage and the diners club. The service was individual and second to none; a complete credit to all that work at the group designed by ‘Heinz’ someone (excuse not remembering as I write!) diners club was an exeotional meal and bar-designed ‘winter warmer’ (vodka based) cocktail exceptional. I couldn’t have been made to feel more special on a stay; exceptional place, exceptional service. Thank you so very much for an amazing stay Backstage Hotel
