Poplar House Serviced Apartments

This was a great find with free parking outside the front door on a quiet residential street less than 10 minutes walk from the city walls. Lillian met us at check in and we couldn't fault the apar**ent. It was spotlessly clean, comfortably furnished and well equipped. There was a quality welcome pack in the fridge and the apar**ent was warm. The best recommendation I can give this property is we would love to stay again

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was a real home from home. Very well equipped with everything you needed and spotlessly clean. Comfy bed - had a great nights sleep no noise at all. Situated in a very nice area and about a 10 minute walk to the river and then another 10 minute walk to Minster area but didn't seem that long as plenty places to see on the way. We walked out in the evening and got an uber home which worked out about £6 from near the Minster. Would definitely stay here again - was perfect for our needs

Great base to explore York with the bonus of parking close to the centre.

Just returned from two night stay. As usual when booking anywhere i look at tripadvisor reviews. so after going on website i booked stay. We arrived to be greeted by owner who took us round property explaining everything and about local area. The apar**ent was very well equipped and also a welcome pack in fridge. Everything was spotless including the white fluffy pillows. No sign of the yellow pillows.

Pillows were yellow, badly stained! Despite ringing mobile and ring doorbell, no one responded for some while! The following day other guests were also kept waiting so long, I invited them to use our facilities! My family visited and were disgusted at how the manager spoke to me, after I offered to ***** the beds, something I usually do when staying anywhere, to save housekeeping time!

Superb apar**ent, bright, welcoming and on quiet road overlooking croquet and bowling green. Very close and easy walk to the centre of York. The host was fantastic and apar**ent immaculate. Thank you, we hope to return!

Despite offering arrival time, phoning and ringing on the ring doorbell a few times, workmen had to shout for the owner. Two other guests were kept waiting a long time the following day too, to the point we asked if they would like to use our facilities! My family were upset at the way the owner spoke to me when I offered to ***** the beds for housekeeping! The pillows were covered in yellow stains so we were afraid to look at the state of the mattresses! When I raised this, no apology or partial refund was offered!

Great location, homely, welcoming, everything you need

My wife and I stayed here for three nights over school half term. We were delighted when we arrived to see how nice the apar**ent was. Everything was clean and there was everything we could need for our stay. The bed was huge, which was a relief as the last few B&Bs we have stayed in have had the most basic of double beds and we struggled to sleep. Not a problem with that here. What really made the apar**ent was the little touches throughout, such as the Nespresso machine with capsules provided, the eggs, bread, milk and butter and loads of other things including stuff we didn't need but it was nice to see, such as a load of picnic equipment in case we'd wanted to take a picnic in a park (not this time as it rained for our whole stay!) The location of the apar**ent was excellent, as it was only a ten minute walk to the centre and 15-20 minutes to most things you'd want to go to for a holiday. The only thing I would say was a minor issue was how cold it got during the night. I guess this comes down to the type of house that it is in and there's not too much to be done about that, other than jump up out of bed and pump up the heating or grab the extra blankets or duvets that were squirrelled about the apar**ent. Highly recommended and we will definitely go there again if we visit York.
