Whiston Hall

Had a lovely two night stay with family as we were going to Alton Towers for my son’s birthday. The hotel set up birthday banners , balloons, chocolates and a birthday card in my son’s room for no extra charge. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a very quiet area and the food was outstanding. Hotel staff were very friendly. Didn’t try the golf course but it looked very good. All in all a good hotel and would definitely stay again.

This hotel is literally in the middle of nowhere, lots of small country lanes that can only fit one vehicle down, so drive with caution. If someone came from the other direction, you wouldn’t get past. I was allocated a twin room upstairs. The room was absolutely filthy. Dust, cobwebs, hairs all over one of the beds! The carpets didn’t look like they’ve been vacuumed in weeks. Beds were ok when it came to comfortability. The bathroom had a crack in the wall and I ordered this room thinking there would be a shower. What I got instead was a bath only with a portable shower head with no holder to position it in…so not great. I only stayed because I cleaned a tiny bit and was so tired. Otherwise I probably would’ve checked out. Food was a really good standard though, breakfast was brilliant. Overall I probably wouldn’t stay here again.

Without a doubt I will always look forward to another stay here. The owners are brilliant, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are big, the beds are comfy and the food is great. Try the butter chicken! I really hope to get a chance to play on the course.

I’ve given 4* for the hotel which has a beautifully decorated reception and bar area, very friendly staff and we enjoyed a lovely evening meal and breakfasts. Sadly for our bedroom it’s a 3 star, we stayed in room 8 which was a twin room, its not been updated like the others and has the worst beds I’ve ever slept in, I could feel the springs through the mattress and didn’t sleep well, I hope the hosts will throw them in a skip asap!

Took my daughter there for her birthday treat for a couple of nights. The staff went above and beyond by putting up a happy birthday banner plus a card and choccies without being asked. The room was very nice. Our only gripe was that you couldn’t take a stand up shower. You needed to sit in the Bath and use the shower head, there is no shower curtain. The hotel itself is lovely and well decorated and very clean. The location and views are beautiful. The food served was well presented and tasty. Breakfast was a choice of continental and full English, poached eggs etc. Evening meal was a set menu, which reasonably priced with generous portions. They also did us a beautifully presented Afternoon Tea which was delicious. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Thank you for a memorable weekend.

Great hosts..very accomodating and helpful. Three tired cyclists very well looked after. Superb selection of food and ales, fabulous location. Would definitely recommend, and hope to visit again. Thank you!

An overnighter with friends in an area we’d never been to before. Whiston Hall is part of what looks to be a picturesque golf course. There looks to be work is in progress on the Hall, so views from our room were unfavourable. The current management have done an excellent job with a tired building however none of this distracted from the welcome we received and the impeccable standard of the food, service and total receptiveness of the staff!!! The Menu choices were a delight and the chicken wings are the best I’ve ever eaten! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Just come back from a weekend trip to Alton towers for our son's 30th birthday and stayed at whiston hall as it was the perfect location only 10 minutes drive from the theme park. Have to say from the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They even decorated my son's room with balloons banners and left him a birthday card and box of maltesers way more than we imagined or expected. The food was outstanding. The staff especially Marlena were so friendly and helpful and really "pushed the boat out". When we next visit Alton towers or want to stay in this area we know where we will be booking up for. Once again a massive thank you to all at whiston hall and we hope to see you in the near future

Fantastic hotel , Dave and Marlene were amazing hosts and very welcoming. We played 9 holes in the afternoon , had an delicious breakfast and then headed off to Alton Towers ( a couple of miles away ). Would happily recommend and I’m sure we’ll be back.
