My son and I did a whirlwind tour of NZ in Jan and he booked all the places we stayed at. Every one of them was lovely but Maple Lodge and Mark were my fave. It was a very airy comfortable room with plenty of space for suitcases and bits and bobs. The place was very clean, and the beds were very clean and comfortable too. The bathroom was spotless with fresh towels and plenty of space. The room had a patio door out onto a seating area with grass and a washing line - FANTASTIC! It was $5 to use the laundry room which is well worth it when you're running out of clothes, and while my son went climbing I had all our laundry washed, dried and ironed before he got back. I would definitely recommend Maple Lodge to anyone going to the area, and to meet Mark who is a delight and very helpful. I would love to return one day, fingers crossed.
