Quinta do Vallado Wine Hotel

This was the best hotel experience I have ever had. From the moment we were greeted to the amazing rooms at a great price to the breakfast and tastings which were all included. We have never stayed at a winery before. Loved every minute. Just sad we have to leave

Wine tour and tasting. We enjoyed the tour which included the processing and storage of grapes. Because it was only April, three was an excellent VR headset presentation to immerse us in the experience. Nice small group, our host was very knowledgeable and personable. Highly recommend.

Most amazing staff and grounds . Rooms are beautiful. The wine tasting tour was far advance with the virtual realty glasses ! Breakfast was enjoyable with plenty of choices Swim up and enjoy an orange right from the tree! Great location . Close to downtown

Beautiful setting, welcoming staff and a very unique approach to walking wine enthusiasts through the production process—virtual reality headsets! Annalisa expertly guided us through the history of the Quinta and selection of still and port wines. Excellent quality, depth and breadth of wines!

The tour guide was Italian - sage was fine - but the reason to do a tour like this is to get to understand the detail of the local approach- Not particularly good value for money The tour started before we were quite ready - even tough it was obvious we weee joining and the reason we were late was largely down to the Quinto!

It was a great experience from start to finish. The property and facilities are delightful, the staff very knowledgeable and passionate about their vocation and the wines we sampled were excellent. We visited in Feb outside of harvest season but their VR show was excellent and gave us a good idea of what it would be like to be at the vineyard during that period. Definitely worth a visit.

We celebrated 40 years of marriage in this amazing hotel amongst the vines and guess what...................... you can drink 40 year old port to match! Recommended by a wine industry expert from California we came up river from Porto to experience the local production and savour the wines and ports. Excellence is a word to choose but the hotel accommodation with local slate and timber combination, as building materials in the interior design, was just amazing. The restaurant potuguese syle menu with wood-fired atmosphere for dinner including wine and port pairings was absolutely delicious; as was the included breakfast. We arrived just in time to join the english speaking winery tour and tasting at 1430 and met like-minded fans from Minnesota and Arizona. We are from Switzerland BTW. The best idea, in our opinion, is to stay in the hotel and taste tour wines pre-dinner, enjoy with dinner ( of course port is a must with the cheese board) and sleep in a peaceful haven. The wine tasting and gift of the book of the history of the production and the estates, plus a bottle of red, is included in the room rate. Last but actually first is the customer care and kindness afforded by the staff. THANK YOU QUINTA DO VALLADO TEAM FOR MAKING OUR 40 YEAR ANNIVERSARY SO SPECIAL

This wine hotel at the well-regarded Vallado winery is a dream backdrop for a stay in Douro. The grounds of the winery could not be any more beautiful. We stayed in the Praza room in the Modern building for 2 nights, which I highly recommend for its location, size, beauty, and double balconies. Their pre-arrival team is outstanding, answering numerous questions patiently and arranging dinners, picnics, boat tours, and whatever else you desire. We enjoyed a full-course dinner with wine pairings on our first night and their ample breakfast buffet with fresh-squeezed oranges right from their property and made to order items if desired. They gifted us a bottle of white port and their own olive oil, as well as a bottle of their tinto reserva wine included with the wine tour for hotel guests. The treats were abundant. Their staff in the hotel, the winery tour, and the wine shop were gracious and helpful. Their various wines are of among the best we sampled in the region. We loved the setting for their outdoor pool on a hot, May afternoon beyond their herb gardens, up a stone stair case, shaded by orange trees. Of the various wine hotels and boutique properties among which we were choosing, I'm so glad we landed on QDV. Their property would be magical for a special event like a wedding. The various entrances could use a bit better signage; and, the parking lots and winery roads were challenging for an American driving a manual transmission. The elevators were...unique. Overall, a fabulous stay. I highly recommend and hope to have the opportunity to return.

Really good tour that explains the history of the the Douro valley and the evolution from making Port wines to dry wines. The our ends with a tasting of 4 wines and 1 port. Marcus was an excellent guide. Wines were very good.
