"It was a surprise. I sent an email in advance. There was a hotel car directly to the station. The road was not far away, but the road was narrow and steep. It was a little discouraged. When I arrived at the hotel, I found that it was too beautiful. The bay below the cliff was too beautiful. The design of the room was also very amazing. The boss and his wife were very nice. The breakfast room is super beautifully decorated"

"Lovely quiet B&B up in the hills above Vico. Excellent pool area with gardens and quality sun loungers. Smart outdoor and indoor dining areas for breakfast or daytime drinks. The pool is fab by the way. Pictures don't really do it justice. It's nice and deep and lovely and refreshing. L'Ulivo itself is situated in a small town with a few nice restaurants and a supermarket. The pick of these would be the Pescheria which gets extremely busy. Handy ice cream / cafe close by but no sandwiches or snacks. Typically we ate lunch at Da Giovanni next door or went into town. Bus to town and back can vary in frequency from 30 minutes to 2 hourly. This may change though when the Funivia bus is back up and running. Walk to town is simple if you don't do the bus. 2 flights of steps, then head diagonally right to the main road, through the gate opposite and keep going down. No need to walk on the busy main road just continue down the little paths and steps. Getting back is a bit more of a challenge but the bus runs regularly up the hill and it's best to get this from the bus / train station if you want a seat. Getting around Campania is also very easy. Pompeii & Sorrento not far using the train and very cheap. We did Capri but sailed from Vico Marina rather than Sorrento. Final day we took the pre-booked Curreri Viaggio bus back to Naples airport which was quick and comfortable and then took the alibus into the city (quick and not so comfortable) to grab the best pizza I have ever eaten. Finally a shout out to the staff at L'Ulivo. Super friendly and really made sure we had a nice holiday. Ciao, ciao, ciao !"

"Disappointing experience. We booked for four people for Sunday with a fixed menu, specifying our food intolerances. However, when we arrived, the request was completely ignored, without offering us alternative dishes. Only after several complaints did the chef arrive and offer us a different first course. For the rest, we had to adapt to reduced dishes. However, the cost was the same as the full menu. Highly not recommended."

"Great hotel, great location, good food in the hotel and choice of restaurants nearby. Hotel room clean and comfortable, although we did stay in the suite. Staff, were polite, attentive and friendly. Only drawback was that it is at then end of a "cul de sac" we were woken quite early with buses and lorries turning and the reversing noises that go with this manoeuvre. if you miss or can't book the shuttle bus to the station then a taxi will set you back 30 euro !"

"Avoid this place like the plague, the advertising and pictures on the place makes it sound fine, the reality is completely different, the paths on the site are very steep and totally unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or have small kids, the steps to some of the chalets are frankly in poor condition and dangerous, the proposed view from the chalets are mostly obscured by foliage, the chalets themselves are small, the beds fit in the bedroom but nothing else, the a/c is an extra expense, there wasn’t even anywhere to sit in the chalets apart from the bed, no TV and only Wi-Fi in the common areas, although just heard about that as we did not stay. In the bathroom the shower was very small and the shower head hanging down as there was nowhere to hung it from. The restaurant on site, which was one of the main reasons we picked this place, we were told on arrival closed on the 15th. September a week before we arrived, nothing on any website informed us of this. The only comment the manger made on this was that there were a pub and two restaurants nearby, the pub was about a 10 minute walk from the main gate but you’d have to walk up the steep paths to actually get to the main gate first, out of the two restaurants which were around a kilometer away up a steep and twisting road that was poorly lit only one was open during the week. We found this information out at the place we booked into to avoid having to stay at the baia Serena. The place is very isolated, where most places would have some means of transportation, to get anywhere from here is public bus, do not believe the hype that Baia Serena is less than a kilometer away from the town, and as the crow flys it is, however by road it is nearer 4 Km away. All in all it spoilt the holiday in a beautiful part of Italy, if it could be seen through the trees and bushes"
