Dos Ceibas Tulum - Feel Good Hotel

"Where to begin... there are 2 reasons to visit Tulum- to Rest & Relax or to go diving. I came for the latter, and staying in this hotel was a mistake. Dos Ceibas is very far from the city center, it would take 350 pesos and 20 minutes to get there, assuming the taxi drivers won't scam you (and trust me, they will). Reception's availability is probable- they are either there, or they are not. WhatsApp will fix that until the evening. WiFi- there is no reception of it in the rooms. Go outside to the beach. It's a world of opposites I say... The rooms themselves are of poor quality. There is no air-conditioning, only 2 fans. The nets are torn and mosquitos will have a lot of fun at the room, accompanied by ants and baby cockroaches. Your drinking water supply is one pitcher per room. When you're out- you're out. I had to ask for more, but naturally, no AC means ice in the pitchers will melt in less than an hour, and I ran out at night. Breakfast isn't great, it should start at 7:30 but in reality, don't expect anything before 8AM, which for me was a problem because I needed to leave by then (25 minutes to the city center). The staff's level of English is limited, especially in the restaurant. After I finish dinner (around 9PM) and I head back, they close the doors, and there is no lighting or indicators for the name of the hotel, so it's easy to get lost without taxi. Still, not to be overly negative, I will say the following that goes well for them- the staff are nice people and will help you with problems (if you speak Spanish). The beach is splendid, and quiet, and the water is very warm and pleasant. To summarize, if you want a place to do some R&R and got nothing else planned, and you speak Spanish- go ahead! But if not, stay away from Dos Ceibas like the locust plague- or end up trapped in one!"

Zenses Wellness and Yoga Resort - Adults Only

"My husband and I stayed at Zenses Wellness & Yoga Resort for four nights, but I honestly wanted to leave within the first hour. While the photos and description promised a peaceful jungle retreat, what we experienced felt more like being stuck in a poorly maintained cave in the jungle. Let me start with the positives: the two male receptionists were genuinely kind and tried their best to help us with the issues we raised. Specially Emmanuel , he was truly the best! Unfortunately, there was very little they could do to improve our stay. Our room, referred to as a “villa” or “cabaña”, was extremely dark, poorly ventilated, and only one window leading to main street with noise coming through from cars etc. We were immediately swarmed with aggressive mosquitoes the moment we stepped inside the room (apparently the cleaners leave the sliding door open when they clean not caring about the mosquitos entering the room). We couldn’t use the TV because it didn’t work, and the internet in the room was non-existent, which made things even more frustrating.The second day at least they tried to fix it and third day it was working but not that great. The pool was another letdown. The water looked green and uninviting, with very little maintenance and no available seating due to overcrowding, despite the resort’s small size. We only attempted to visit once during our entire stay. As for the room, towels and shower mats were visibly overused and we only got the room cleaned once as we felt unsafe leaving our belonging there (due to review saying they steal your clothes etc.) and also I didn't want the cleaners to leave the door open because of mosquitos! Yoga was one redeeming activity—free and quite relaxing—but even the yoga area upstairs was noticeably dirty, like the floor hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Breakfast was overpriced, so we skipped it altogether. Overall, this was not the wellness experience we were hoping for. It's hard to understand the hype around this place or Tulum in general, which felt overcrowded and over-marketed. Unfortunately, this stay was neither worth our time nor money, and we left feeling deeply disappointed."
