Excellent place to stay in Theth, right beside the chuch. Friendly and excellent, good value food. Good English spoken, comfortable rooms and friendly animals too. Helpful advice given about the walk over the pass to Valbone too

We booked this well regarded guesthouse for two nights, one at each of the start and end of our 9 day trek. The stay at the beginning was reasonable, despite the owner's children running around screaming and shouting until midnight. The guesthouse was also kind enough to let us leave a few bags of stuff there to collect on our return stay. The return stay is where the major problem occurred. Having walked for 8 hours we arrived at the guesthouse ready to collect our things and enjoy a shower. However, instead we were told that the owner's relatives had made an unannounced visit and so our rooms had been given away and they were full. There was no apology...we were told that this approach was common in the Balkans (it is not...don't worry!). I would avoid this place...there are plenty of much better guesthouses in Theth.

Polia Yes the infrastructure finish is not perfect - a hanging electric wire, gaps around sockets and the toilet flush panel, an ill fitting window with a large air gap to one side And yes the WiFi is wonderful if you are garden side of the house /in the courtyard or restaurant (our phones picked up a signal at around 200 metres or more away!) but totally non-existent in the annex. And our room was far, far plainer than it should be - no shelves, nor table, nor cupboards, and just one stick-back chair, so we had to store everything on the floor and work out of our cases. But the setting is glorious The family/staff is very friendly The place is clean. The bed comfortable and even though the heating was only on briefly one evening the room was well insulated and warm, as were the bedding. The unlimited included breakfast is plentiful - eggs, cheese, bread, jam, ham, watermelon, tomatoes, cornflakes/muesli , tea/coffee, yoghurt. And they have a "pack your own lunch" section of the same items, even with cling film and paper bags. When we paid up we weren't asked if we had had packed lunch so we presume that it is free. They provide a communal evening meal - soup/bread, salad plate (tomato, cooked carrot & potato,..), warm rice, cooked pepper & cheese dish, then some pork or lamb with roast potato, greens, and ratatouille or stuffed pepper. Very much home cooked, and plenty of it. 1250lek. It isn't compulsory, we had 2 and catered ourselves for 1 night. So, would we recommend - yes, wholeheartedly Could it be better - yes, and by some simple changes eg An information booklet - explain how lunch, dinner, drinks etc works A leaflet about trails / walks Wifi router to the annex (there was one not plugged in on a chair in the annex lobby) And some room furniture would be good too.

I was a late booking after an overbooking elsewhere. I was shown and booked into a dreadful room. Not clean, including the toilet, dubious bedding, unfinished fixtures and fittings, rubbish outside the door. Thankfully , the Guide from my travel group intervened and I was moved to a proper room. It transpired this was the room reserved for guides ( poor them). However, I had been met by the owner on the way in, so why was I given the first room? Also, no apology was offered through the duration of my stay. Avoid.

super nicely located guesthouse can't say otherwise. Beautiful surroundings for hiking. Staff was friendly especially the cook and manager. The food was okay but a lot. The room was not too good. We were in the new part next to the guesthouse. Not clean and not neatly finished unfortunately.

Worst place ever, booked two rooms and at arrival they told us there were no rooms , waited at least for some help from them still nothing, the place was a mess, Its a shame reallly Not recommended at alllllll

This is a no frills guest house in a magnificent setting. The bedroom was small and the bathroom tiny with a shower over the toilet. The beds are not made up and the rooms are not cleaned. I think there must be better options in the village.

NO WIFI in room. Yeah, but in restaurant only. Shower was simply unusable, and we skipped it that morning. Food was basic, and only one dish available (pork), despite there being non-pork eating members of our party. Room barely had room for a bed. There were bare wires sticking out of the wall in the bathroom. I could go on, but that is enough kicking the horse when it is down...

We visited Theth during bad weather, but we still enjoyed our stay. Despite heavy rain, we had a view of huge misty mountains and waterfalls from our room. The dining hall had a big fireplace, and tired, cold hikers filed in throughout the day, and took advantage of it. The staff was kind, friendly, and took care of our every need. We were fed a wonderful stew and other meals were tasty , as well! I highly recommend Bujtina Polia. Theth seems like a magical place.
