Makryammos Bungalows

I recently stayed at this 4-star hotel in Greece with my family, and I must say, I was quite disappointed. While it had the potential to be a wonderful family resort, it fell far short of being top class. The first thing that struck me was the poor maintenance of the property. It seemed like they hadn't put in the effort to keep everything in good, clean condition. The real letdown, though, was the food. I was excited to try some local Greek cuisine, but the meals were incredibly tasteless and uninspiring. It's a shame because Greece is known for its delicious dishes, and I was hoping to indulge in some authentic flavors. To make matters worse, my family and I all got food poisoning during our stay. When we informed the reception about our unfortunate situation, their reaction was shocking. They seemed nonchalant and acted as if getting sick was a normal occurrence. They even mentioned that half of the resort was also sick, which is alarming in itself. However, they didn't offer any concrete actions to help or remedy the situation, leaving us feeling helpless and frustrated. On the last day someone had the audavity to steal the kids inflatable water toy. Needless to say, this experience has left a sour taste and we have no intention of returning to this hotel in the future. It's a shame because the potential is there, but the lack of care, maintenance, and proper customer service has left us with no other option but to give this place a thumbs down.

Well where do we begin. Accommodation is in bungalows set on different levels within a forest setting, Our bungalow was lovely comfortable bed and great shower room. On our first night we shared the room with a lizard who camouflaged himself well in with the bricks on the bedroom wall. From the room you could look out across the bay through the trees and see a beautiful beach setting of white sand. There were peacocks roaming the grounds and also a deer park. A lot of people seemed to be bothered with the wasps whilst eating lunch and dinner we found eating inside helped. The restaurant at night although busy had a great range of different types of fish & meat dishes also a different type of Greek food every night fresh fruit was great as well as breakfast. Lunchtimes you have a choice the beach bar or the Taverna our personal favourite was the Taverna always greeted with a smile from the restaurant manager and the servers too. All in all we had a brilliant week and would return!!

Lovely little spot pushed back from Thasos town. Decently easy to walk to from the port (though maybe not with kids). The stay was incredibly relaxing. We stayed on property all 4 days because the beach was so beautiful and the water was so clear we didn’t feel a need to go to a different area. The food options are decent and the alcohol is reasonably priced. Would come back here again.

A wonderful hotel for a family holiday, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. the nature and beach are incredible. The girl at the reception named Angelina does her job superbly, special thanks to her. Room cleaning is high quality, food is high quality and tasty. We will definitely come back again!

The overall experience is a good one. The hotel is classy, the food is good and the location lovely. The beach is ideal having no access to people outside the site and the staff are really quite superb. We didn't meet with anyone that wax unhelpful or strange in any way. That extended to them worrying we had left our hand luggage in the room until after breakfast and they were rushing after us The only reasons I would not give a full 5 stars are as follows: we were at the top of the resort and the only way in which we could get a good WiFi signal was by standing on the balcony and holding phones and tablets in the air! We also had a problem with the bathroom, which was always wet, despite having a lovely shower. We never did discover where the water was coming from - just hope with was not the toilet! The third and final reason is really why I am not keen on half-bard. The food was lovely, but a bit "same-y" and more pan European than Greek. That was disappointing.

Lovely resort in a great location with a fantastic beach but what really makes this place is the friendly staff (who patiently put up with my attempts to speak Greek). A special mention to Anna and Kostas Z in the restaurant, Eleni in the bar, Yanis at the beach bar and Georgina and Sarah in reception. Thank you for making our holiday a memorable one.

Just lay back and relax. We booked through TUI and flights and transfers were all included very smooth start, after being met by Susan the TUI rep. This is our 3rd time back we missed the last 2 years due to COVID. At the hotel the bungalow we requested, that we stayed in previously,was not available but Sarah on reception at the hotel had reserved the one 2 doors away. Perfect location. We got the sun loungers we wanted and a bonus this year no extra payment for the sun loungers. Perfect start to what will hopefully be a perfect 2 weeks . Thanks to the wounderfull Vasilis, Theonia and staff all around ghe resort.

We stayed for one week, 2 families (kids age 11,13,14,15) It’s a small friendly resort, the beach is definitely the highlight. Allocated sun beds is a winner! We chose sun beds near the beach bar and enjoyed bar service on the beach. The sea is crystal clear. Overall the food was pretty good with plenty of choice. Breakfast could be busy but really quiet if you go early. Yes the wasps are annoying but not as bad as some reviews say. The cocktail bar was lovely for drinks. The Greek taverna really good food and reasonably priced. The negatives… the pool area is very dated and the pool toilets in need of a refurb. The cleaning of the rooms could be better. Cocktails around the pool and on the beach served in disposable cheap plastic cups for 12 euros I would expect a reusable nicer plastic glass:. Reception staff arranged for us to do a private yacht trip, this was the highlight of our trip, highly recommend. We took a taxi into a little mountain town Panegia, really beautiful place with lovely bars and restaurants ( highly recommend the restaurant Thymari) Thassos town is a short taxi journey away, a lively town with lots of bars, restaurants and shops. Overall a relaxing week a lovely little resort and friendly staff.

Remember to take suncream and a hat in your hand luggage as it was very hot on the ferry going over and there wasn’t a lot of shade to sit in. We booked a deluxe sea view room, but be warned, most of these rooms I’m sure had a sea view when first built, but probably half of them now don’t. The trees have grown. (See pic below.) Saying that, we were pleased to be further down the hill, as the bungalows up by the gatehouse are a fair climb. There is a buggy to take you up and down if need be. Our room was lovely. Room safe, mini fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, milk, nespresso machine, ceiling fan, air con. We had en-suite shower room with soap, shampoo and shower gel. No conditioner. I admit we never sat on the balcony. There are a lot of bees and wasps around. Bring after bite and insect repellent as there were also a lot of mosquitos early evening. This wouldn’t put me off coming here though. And the bees and wasps disappeared too early evening. All whom we encountered at reception were lovely and helpful. Well, throughout the whole hotel really. Food was extremely good and we all found something we enjoyed for breakfast and dinner. We had two options for lunch. One being pool bar, and the other was the Taverna. We favoured the Taverna and had lunch there everyday (see menu below). We were served by Romilos everyday who was lovely and very efficient. Both the buffet and the Taverna were overseen by the restaurant manager, who always greeted us with a smile and a ‘good morning’. He ran a very tight ship. Did a marvellous job. Special mention also to Dimitra and Dimitris in the restaurant who mainly looked after us. We went into town a few evenings after dinner, which was lovely. Great shops and bars - a really nice vibe. The older kids stayed on and went clubbing, walking back to the hotel in the early hours. We booked the taxis through reception, same as previous reviewer, taxi 14 and 15. We didn’t find this a problem at all and was a very efficient service. It would seem you should book your return with the taxi driver before you get out, which we did and all worked well. There is a small shop on site that sells big bottles of water at 0.5€ a bottle, snacks, sweets, balls. We bought all our water there. We also booked a 5 hour boat trip through the water sports guys on the beach. The boat owner was called Adonis. This was great fun. We stopped off at various beaches and coves, lots of diving off the boat, bit of snorkelling, and a lovely barbecue lunch of lamb and local sausages with a big Greek salad with bread, soft drinks and beers, and fruit for pud. We had the boat to ourselves and think it worked out to about £30 a head. Money well spent! See pics below. We hired a pedalo with a slide, few of the kids went waterskiing too. We all had such a great week. The beach and sea are amazing. I admit I didn’t go near the pool. I didn’t even see it. The allocated sunbeds worked well.
