I had an enjoyable overnight stay with mixed views. First we were greeted by cheerful and efficient staff. Our room was a very good size, with a large comfortable bed and with a balcony over looking the golf course, my only complaint here is that during the night the room felt stuffy, with no windows to open. Although the room was clean, it looked rather tired in places, and looked like it needed a refresh of paint and new flooring. The fridge also looked like it just needed a good clean. I was looking forward to breakfast, but this was very disappointing - the bacon was above crispy and maybe the day before and heated up! congealed scrambled eggs and everything was luke warm. There seemed to be a shortage of staff, and maybe this was the problem on that day. Overall Woodbury Park is quite nice / peaceful relaxing place, and any staff I came across were very pleasant and polite. A few tweaks and would ****
This was my first visit here after being recommended by work colleagues. The hotel has a strange set out with rooms in different blocks, more like a motel. Unfortunately my room(room 3) had a lot of noise from the adjoining rooms which kept me awake during the night. The food in the restaurant was excellent, no complaints with friendly staff behind the bar. Plenty of parking which seemed secure. Good location right beside the bypass on the way down to Cornwall.
We have stayed in this amazing Hotel before. We travel a lot. This is honestly one of the best nights sleep ever. The decor is lovely, staff are attentive, great location for Exeter. Breakfast was great. But this was the most comfortable restful sleep ever. Great bedding. You might hear the sound of the cathedral bells in the morning but is that not the nicest alarm clock ever? We do spend a lot of time in Exeter so even when we are not staying at the Southern Hay we always pop in for a drink in the great conservatory. The conservatory always reminds me of a restaurant in Berkeley Square in NYC. I cannot find a fault. In fact We are making sure we are going back in February.
I just needed a place to stay in Exeter for two nights and found this Bendene Townhouse, which is near the railway station. The room contained everything I needed (tea and a kettle, mostly) and the bathroom was spacious. There was a large sliding window that led onto a terrace, with others guests on the opposite side (quite noisy, but that is not the hotel's fault). I'd have given it five stars but for the slightly damaged table top on the table that the water kettle was on, and two big spiders which I found in the room, as I am somewhat arachnophobic. The checking-in and payment process was smooth and agreeable, and someone was available to come to our aid when we came back late at night and we had run out of loo paper. All things considered, this was a good room in a good location at a reasonable price.
