Gilpin Hotel & Lake House

酒店房間很小，不像國內酒店一樣，性價比很差，兩個白人女前台有種族歧視，房間似乎有監控，衹要房間白天有第三人出現就會很快來電話叫我們讓第三人退出房間！

就是比較好的民宿，説實話欣賞不來。 一個樓裏一間房，樓下是餐廳。

羅萊夏朵的酒店，但是定的時候衹有這個房間了，沒想到這麼小，有條件的還是定大點的吧，住着舒服，酒店樓下有米其林餐廳。

Have been wanting to visit the Gilpin for a while and finally did it with friends this month. The hotel was in great location and welcoming as you arrived. The receptionist is friendly and approachable. My overall experience of the hotel was that it is beautifully laid out but ever so tired. As you’ll see with a handful of reviews this year, the hotel is tired. It does need some acre and attention to bring it up to the standard of other competitors in the area. Whilst you can forgive some rough edges, it is scuffed. The service was friendly but hardly seamless. I agree with other reviews that service is slow and drinks take too long to arrive. There was mix up with one of our courses at Source and whilst the service staff dealt with it well and with humour, there were still further delays, mistakes and synchronisation issues across the meal. We had been sat in a counter, with empty tables around us, and every drink and dish that arrived they had to lean over and apologise. It was comical but became grating. Especially as they could have moved an empty table away as it was unused all night. Breakfast was great and a nice way to leave the hotel. Again, like other reviews this month the bill at the end was incorrect as I had been billed for both our and our friends food and drinks. The Gilpin just needs a good shake up and some investment in the fixtures and fittings. It shouldn’t lose its charm but it needs to feel cleaner and more polished to command the accommodation prices at £1000 per night with food and drink. I feel at pains to criticise as the staff were friendly and polite but it won’t maintain a Michelin with all the errors we encountered.

Fantastic two night stay at the Gilpin. Room was huge and very comfortable. All tge staff are super helpful and friendly. We ate at Spice the first night which is a great casual dining experience recommended for dining with friends or in a group with an unusual and delicious eastern inspired menu of sharing platters, The next day we ate at Source and had one of our best ever meals. The food is outstanding and we had great friendly and professional service from Conner our waiter and all the other staff, A treat destination but definitely a great one.

Lovely place,Comfortable rooms, everything neat, excellent service from the staff, all very friendly and willing to attend to my requirements, The food is incredible, I have never stayed in a hotel like this, 100% recommended, I will return again since it is a very comfortable place.

An excellent base for spending time in the Lake District if you want superb food, beautiful surrounds and and being pampered

Paid £750 for a lodge but they were pretty run down. I've stayed in nicer rooms for a third of the price

This is a great hotel. It was a gift to us for our stay, and clearly expensive. However, you get what you (or your benefactor!) pays for and we had a brilliant time relaxing. We were in one of the spa lodges. The word "lodge" is maybe associated with Centre Parcs.... but this is no Centre Parcs. Very, very well appointed lodges. The only strange thing is that they have these fake wooden fires that look, well, fake. What is wrong with a real fire? Or forget the fire totally. I could not sit in front of a fake thing for long. And, talking of fakes, plastic plants in some of the lodge, and in the main hotel??? Really? Not all plastic so you can do the real thing! Just a bit of a surprise, but hardly a deal breaker. Anyway, these are the only criticisms. Everything else was brilliant. The bar is lovely, and special mention to the sommelier who is (as they all are I guess) an enthusiast. But nice with it too. His recommendations were all fantastic. We ate in both restaurants and they differ markedly (one traditional/French modern, the other "east fusion" for which read posh curry.) Very different food, but all amazingly put together. Staff great at explaining what the food was, how it was cooked, etc etc. I would highly recommend this hotel and the restaurants.
