Playa Parc Apartments

We stayed at Playa Parc Apar**ents in Son Parc from Sat 22nd July to Saturday 5th August. On arrival we were immediately taken aback by the very dated apar**ent that we ended up in. It looked and felt very old. The cupboard door in the kitchen was falling off. There was old broken sun umbrellas on the balcony. The furniture was all very old. We asked if there were any other apar**ents to move to and to be fair we were moved to another apar**ent the next day. This apar**ent at first glance seemed modern and bright. However once we settled in we quickly realised that, a bit like the entire resort, the apar**ent was in need of an overhaul. Plus there was a bowl that had been used as an ashtray left full of cigarette butts on our balcony upstairs. Also our main request had been for air conditioning and whilst the apar**ent had air conditioning downstairs it had none upstairs. Hence the bedrooms were absolutely roasting/suffocating during the night and both my children and ourselves had trouble sleeping. We had to open all the balcony doors upstairs at night to let any bit of air in. This then unfortunately allowed for cockroaches etc to also come in. The bathtub needed replacing and hence no amount of cleaning was going to help it. We constantly had insects in the bathtub and sink. There was a wooden round window in the bathroom which was completely falling apart and rotting. There was patio furniture provided on the balcony and a clothes horse but no sun umbrella. The one positive of the resort was that there are numerous swimming pools including one right outside our apar**ent which was great. However a few of the sunbeds were broken and there were no sun umbrellas. One or two of the staff were very good but apart from them you would get a lot of “I don’t know” from the others so had to constantly wait for those two particular staff members to be working to get anything done. We requested an extra pillow as each bed literally only had one pillow and it took 3 days to finally get it after asking repeatedly. The resort itself is so badly in need of work and feels so neglected. Walking around you came across broken furniture thrown around, rubbish, closed up buildings and restaurants. The bar in the resort that provides the entertainment is fully closed by 11pm. The entertainment stops at 10pm and by 10.30pm you are handed paper cups to put your drink into and the tables are cleared! There is a severe lack of places to eat in the resort. A few of the restaurants once you’d tried them you would not be bothered going back. Bad service, dreadful food. There seems to be an issue with flies in the resort and one of the restaurants that we tried to eat in we ended up leaving our meal uneaten as we were being so attacked by flies. There were nights when it was nearly impossible to get into some of the restaurants/bars to eat. Booked this very last minute. Room where spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids . Towels changed twice an bed sheets once . Staff where friendly. Can't comment on food as went self catering . All Inclusive food seem to be in sister hotel Sol parc as was all entertainment. To me it's not geared very well for British tourists as most stuff was all in Spanish. I asked to get moved rooms as I was in a room close to slides that entered into very deep end of pool. Which my 1.5yr old granddaughter didn't understand that she couldn't go down the slides . A gate needs to be put in to stop toddlers running to slides. There was a large wall I was worried she was going to fall over . Changing room next day wasn't q problem. Some area around pool and rooms very sliddly when wet. Areas of ground very hot my little 1.5yr got feet badly burnt . Fake grass or something could prevent this. Pool was mostly empty apart from ourselves. Pools at Sister hotel Sol Parc is definitely better for kids. Beach is like a cove very shallow for quite a bit out. The beach is lovely 😍 Had to use towels to walk on going into room as we all slipped going into room & in room with slippy tile floors . I was covered in bites. Something I have never been on any holiday before. Been alot of different places . Area you definitely need a car as was nothing to do around area. Bus timetables very poor. Neither of us have drove on opposite side of the road so car hire was a no no. You have 2 supermarkets & 3 or 4 restaurants that don't open to around 6pm. My 13yr old grandson was bored in evenings I can clearly say I will never be back to Menorca for a holiday.

We arrived at 10pm after long day travelling to find there was nowhere open to eat and couldn’t even get any bottled water, luckily the lovely receptionist took pity on us and sorted out some cans of pop and some eggs to cook. The trek to the apar**ents is like off roading up steps and slopes in the dark, after it rains some walkways are slippery and my husband did slip over once. The apar**ents themselves are lovely and were clean and were regularly cleaned, the beds were comfy and there was an added bonus of a bath! Sadly covid has left this area with not a lot, there was one bar and one restaurant open which was a good 10 minute walk away, there was one supermarket open which was ok but bit overpriced on some bits also some bits were well out of date. We ended up hiring a car so we could access a big supermarket as self catering and visit other places, after visiting menorca before I can say I think covid has impacted everywhere massively as it’s so much lays closed and empty and not from being end of season. Son parc has an amazing beach and a lovely play park and is pretty but it was like a ghost town you barely see anyone! I didn’t want a clubbing resort but I have a 10 year old son and there wasn’t anywhere to really go except the beach, was too cold for the pool sadly. If you like walking and want a retreat it’s for you but if you like some life or maybe for families or those with kids it’s not ideal. Can’t fault the actual apar**ent or the 2 staff we met though.

Lovely set of apar**ents. First holiday abroad with my boyfriend and his kids. Stayed in a two bedroom apar**ent at the back. Rooms have everything you need, we had more of a balcony and others on the ground floor opened up to the pool but our felt more private. Well cleaned. The snack bar is a triumph. The lady working there works so hard and with a friendly smile. I would have liked it to be open all day but we knew the times and worked around it. Food was great and a massive hit with the kids. We got food from the supermarket across the road. It had everything we needed. The resort is quiet compared to other places I have been but the apar**ents were lovely. We took a taxi to Fornell which was reasonably priced and a lovely harbour town with beautiful restaurants and history thrown in. We also walked the cliff coastal path to the neighbouring resort which had more stuff going on, but was very hilly. Again an excellent day out. The resort has clearly been hit by covid with some things not re-opening. Paradise Beach was a hit with the kids and the food was lovely. Bar Alexanca was lovely where we over ordered on tapas. Like others have said, this area of Menorca is beautiful but the trees seem to bring flies inland and that’s a struggle for eating out. Mind you, didn’t see them at the apar**ents, just a few wasps. Exactly the right holiday for kids and getting back to the room to play games, but for couples you probably need more to do or a car. I’d fully recommend the apar**ents. I’ve just probably seen everything that this resort has for now.

The apar**ent was small & air conditioning only in the sitting area and 1 bedroom, the other bedroom had none. There was no room for a travel cot in either bedroom so little one had to sleep in the sitting area. Balcony is sufficient to sit 4 people at a push & there is an area to dry towels etc. Housekeeping attended on alternate days so apar**ent was clean. All staff that we dealt with were lovely & gave good advice on bus services etc as we didn’t book a car. The only real problem we had was the amount of noise at all hours of the night, people shouting & moving furniture woke the little one on several occasions, we were also put on the first floor which was difficult with a toddler & pushchair as there are no lifts. Not sure I would stay here again & definitely not with small children. We went self catering & found places to eat were limited in the actual resort

Great. Apar**ents are well equity, not all shines and new but clean. We had a pool front apar**ent which was perfect as we could sit in out little patio and keep and eye on our son in the pool. Beach is 5/10 mins away and is stunning. Pools are cleaned each morning and gardens beautifully maintained. We had a huge storm, which caused some debris around the resort and damage to the pool. W everything was tidied and fixed before 11am the very next day. Our return flight was a late night flight, 11,30pm and they arranged for us to be able to keep our room all day rather than checking out at 11am. This made our last day so much easier and a allowed us to essentially have an extra day as we could go to the beach, use the pool, make some lunch, shower and so on, as we pleased. The lady on reception even gave my son a gift as we waited in reception for our airport transfer, cause he was so sad to leave and having a little cry. There are a few restaurants nearby, i recommend Meloussa beach club, and you can use the facilities at the resorts other hotels . Highly recommend.

We had a very positive experience at Playa Parc. The service was great at the reception and the swimming pool bar. The cleaning personnel was extremely helpful. It was very easy to find a parking space every time. Everything went smoothly.

I can't think of a single negative thing about this experience, other than the transfers being at awkward times which is entirely out of the apar**ents control. Firstly, check-in was simple, staff were friendly. It was a little difficult to find out apar**ent at night as we had to walk around the main road instead of cutting through the complex, but that was unavoidable really. The next morning we were able to take the shortcut with no problems. To get to the main pools and reception it is about a 2 minute walk through the complex, everywhere has ramping which made life very easy with our daughter who is an ambulatory WC user. The main pools are great for kids, there's a specific smaller shallow pool for kids, the main pool has plenty of shallow and slides, theres also a pool without slides. The pool bar sells breakfast, dinner and tea, things like pain au chocolate, croissants, pizza, burgers chips ect. The appar**ents themselves have smaller pools right outside meaning all we had to do was step out the front door to have a swim, also if your on a family holiday it means when the kids are in bed you're able to go for a little dip and be able to watch the children's room window and only entrance to the appar**ent. These pools are a little deeper, shallow end is about 1.2m but still fine for kids. The walk to the closest super market is about 5minutes, a bit of a hill which is trickier with a WC user but manageable. The supermarkets have all you'd need. Remember to stock up on water. The distance to the beach is amazing. It's literally about...30 seconds to get to the stairs. Their is 170 steps down to the beach which is pretty much in doable if you have a profound mobility imparement, BUT, if you rent a car (which I would recommend) it's a very short drive to the other side of the beach which has a car park and ramping down and is much more accessible. The beach is beautiful, clean, water is crystal clear and if you hug the cove you'll find all manor of fish and crabs with the kids loves. It's also very shallow for about 20meters so ideal for children. I'd say it's about 40meters before you reach water deeper than 5ft. The staff have all been amazingly kind and polite. We had lost our wallet in the plane (luckily the pilot had messaged my partner on Facebook to say it was handed in) and the staff were willing to call the airport for us, they took our details and we're going to completely deal with that for us if we hadn't got the message that it was handed in. They advised of contactless cash points near by and were just wonderfully helpful. Housekeeping are great and seem to come every day. Bar staff were lovely with the kids, all the kids not just ours. Upon check out they will book you space in the private shower so you can still enjoy the pools through the day before transfers and will provide you with towels, shampoo and soaps to shower off as well as store your bags. Honestly I can't complain. It's an amazing, amazing place. M

We booked this as a very last minute trip for 2 adults and 2 kids (age 6 and 3) and we were really pleasantly surprised by the whole thing. We’d never visited Menorca before and absolutely loved it, especially this area which was mercifully not overrun with Brits and was more Spanish. The apar**ent was spotlessly clean and we received fresh towels nearly every day. The facilities in the kitchen were basic but everything worked. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful (Lena on reception in particular). The pool was great and had a shallow end for kids (agree that the pool in next door hotel was even better for small children but you’re able to use this and it’s not a far walk). Air conditioning was really powerful and efficient, as was Wifi everywhere in hotel. Lady running snack bar does a great job. Local area is low key but has everything you need. Local supermarkets are pricy and there isn’t a huge range of restaurants so we hired a car (through reception) for a few days and there is a lidl and aldi in Mahon. We didn’t visit anywhere with amazing food but we also didn’t try very hard as we had young children who don’t have much patience for restaurant meals. Local beach is absolutely stunning. Warm, shallow, spotlessly clean water. Apar**ent had a parasol you could take down for shade. Very few negatives to highlight. We had a pool view room and although it was supposed to close at 8pm, it was used until dusk around 9:30pm by other guests which disturbed the peace for us. But in fairness, we didn’t mention this to the staff bc we didn’t want to be killjoys! Overall, an absolutely fantastic break in the sun, in an exceptionally good value apar**ent hotel.
