Excellent hotel close to everything fantastic location

So upset that noise from heating was so loud really spoiled our weekend

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights sons wedding.The majority of staff are all very helpfull. I only have 1 large moan about the Management the secretary.After my son spending thousands and all the guest paying to stay the night a large amount of money change hands.When we got home i found i had left my phone charger in my room.I phoned up and staff said they had found it,and would get management to send to me.I offered to pay for it to be sent to me and was told it would be free of charge.The next day i was called by the secretary and asked for payment. I would have thought after all the money they received from the wedding and guests they would have sent it free as i was told in the first place.Management should think before getting staff to phone customers with an attitude.In the end told them to chuck in bin. Would not go back there again.Totally ruined a nice say.

Booked here for 3:30pm carvery roast for Father’s Day… let’s say Father’s Day ruined. Walked in, was absolutely dead… surrounded by lots of big six/seven seater tables, and just the three of us on one of them. It was like a scene out of a deserted western with the tumble **** going by. Ordered drinks at table (didn’t have archers so I just had coke). Went up to the carvery to find a very poor selection of food for a roast. One dry, and I mean it was the driest bit of beef I’d ever seen, would have needed an actual saw to cut it, and some cod in batter that looked like it had come straight out of a Morrisons frozen 4 pack. Walked round to view veg and roast potatoes. Again dry looking veg and then was to be told there were no roast potatoes but they could do me some chips if I wanted…. What on a roast? Even the gravy looked dry. I informed the person behind the carvery I wouldn’t be eating.. I wasn’t paying nearly £13 each for the most unappetising carvery roast I’d ever seen, that we would just have drinks. What I assume was the manager came over, and said we could eat for free, which was very kind, but they couldn’t pay me to eat that. Then as I drank from my glass (given a can of coke to poor myself) I notice a chip in the top… oh and both cans said ‘not to be sold separately. Went up to pay for drinks (1 pint of Heineken £5:95 and two cans of coke £7…. £3:50 for a can of coke? From a multipack as well)… as I payed for the drinks I handed the chipped glass to the barman and advised about the chip… I was then handed a small box which turned out to be soap… all I wanted was a roast not a wash. If I could of given zero stars I would of done!

We spent two nights at this establishment, and were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our visit. The staff were all friendly and extremely helpful. Decor had recently been updated and we found it to be very tasteful. We will definitely return.

Our room (number 120) definitely wasn’t a suite as advertised but a small room with a bathroom. The advertising said it was soundproofed but it wasn’t as we could hear the bar quite loudly all evening. The bathroom didn’t have an actual shower to stand under it only had a hand held one. The sink taps didn’t work properly and the extractor fan stayed on for about an hour after turning the light off. The room itself was small and had an odd smell. The window had a single curtain which didn’t even cover the whole window. The mini fridge just sat on the floor and there was no bottle opener or glasses. The cupboard didn’t have any doors and looked second hand. You couldn’t use the hairdryer and have the tv on at the same time. There was a very low bedside piece of furniture that was so low that it couldn’t be used. There wasn’t even a phone in the room or a plug socket near one side of the bed. We were woken up at 5:45am by a member of staff who put the tv on playing loud music in the bar which was directly underneath our room, we had to go down and tell him to turn it off. The breakfast was cold and limited with potato wedges instead of hash browns. We didn’t eat it for fear of food poisoning.

We booked in to stay overnight for a wedding close by, we had a total of 3 rooms as a family, the rooms are average but clean, we did not have bath towels in our room, there was tea making available, we was able to put the bags in early and attend the wedding, the self service check in was ok until we went to collect our key cards then it was a bit of a struggle, the bar staff was very busy trying to service drinks not very well also, the breakfast was average run out of stuff fast and slow refilling the cutlery. I have paid the same prices at other hotels and they have been much better. It was ok for one night.

We were greeted on entry and ordered our drinks at the bar as we were early Wednesday morning were shown to our table and directed to the buffet areas. Everything was explained in detail, from the soup starter, the cavery and side dishes to the salad and dessert areas. There is also a self service coffee area. The soup was leek and potato which was very tasty, for the cavery there was a choice of gammon and beef with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. For desserts there was apple pie, various gateaux with custard or ice cream on request The service was very good and staff regularly checked if there was anything else we needed We were not rushed and there was a nice relaxing atmosphere We will definitely be going back there again

Although the staff were very nice. The ‘suite’ was very disappointing. Small and the bathroom was very old fashioned with no fixed shower.
