FfranciscoarzaluzWe had a very pleasant experience at this hotel, which was a pleasure even before we stayed there, as we were able to appreciate what good communication and customer service provided by the hotel employees and managers really is. We had initially made a reservation for 4 nights in the city of Campeche with the aim of heading to Calakmul after our stay there. Due to the construction and infrastructure works in the surroundings of Calakmul, we were notified of the busy road and the large number of heavy and cargo vehicles on the stretch that we had to drive from Campeche to Calakmul. The restrictions on the time of entry into the archaeological zone of Calakmul (05:30 hours to 13:00 hours) that were also notified to us in time made us realize that it was better to travel with enough time and without hurrying to get to Calakmul safely. For this reason we decided to shorten our stay in Campeche and the hotel's reservations and finance department were extremely understanding and efficient in making the change to our reservation and in a very simple and practical way making the refund for the cancelled night that had been paid in advance. Excellent work, thank you very much. This hotel has two parking lots, which makes it very convenient. The hotel staff is attentive and very helpful. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are very well equipped and in our case we also had a balcony/sun deck. After a good shower, we decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant. The food was quite good and the service even better. Be careful when the waiters say that the salsa or dip is spicy, because it really is. The hotel is very close to the city center (5 - 10 minutes walking). In the city center you can easily visit the tourist attractions and you can easily return to the hotel at any time. From the hotel you can easily drive to the bay and the forts just outside the city. The location of the hotel is excellent in my opinion. The hotel pool is a bit small, but the kids enjoyed cooling off in it. The pool area is very clean. The hotel is a good place to stay and enjoy the beautiful city of Campeche. Edzna is also about an hour's drive from the hotel.
Although it's not the responsibility of the hotel for outside music, they must know that the sound comes right through the walls since they are located at the corner of the public plaza. That said, the location is 2 blocks to the main cathedral and 2 blocks to the sea so you decide. Breakfast is available (not included), grocery store stuff generally or you can buy the 2nd level with eggs. The pool area is modest and water VERY cold in winter in spite of warm daytime temps. We bought a corner suite and the room was spacious, attractive and clean. The bed was pretty awful for comfort. We had balconies on two sides, enjoyed the views and the breeze. Shower was good and the staff was nice with limited English. You need to request a hair dryer for your room at check in. Overall, a fair deal for your money but I'd pick a place where I could sleep better next time.
The hotel has lots going on in the plus column; great location just steps away from the old town, bay views, decent air conditioning, nice water pressure and comfy beds. We understand with the number of people in town to view the annular eclipse, they may have been off their game, but the service in the restaurant was insane. We were asked to take a seat at a table with dirty dishes and used napkins. There were lots of workers bustling around but hadn’t noticed much going on as far as clearing tables or refilling coffees, etc. They had some fresh fruit but the other choices were dismal and their juice was nothing but sugary water. When we got the check for the breakfast buffet, we were astonished at the price of $650 for two. So in short, we’d stay at the hotel again but no way would we waste our money having breakfast there again.
Great location within the walls of the colonial city of Campeche. Our room was one floor above the lobby and this made it difficult to bring our luggage up without an elevator. The room was adequate with a stand alone closet and drawers for storage. Beds were decent. Our room overlooked Calle 12. The bathroom was tiny and dated. The shower cramped, awkward and dangerous entering or exiting as it is easy to slip on the wet floor. My travelling companion found the shower head to be too low. The most annoying aspect of our stay was the lack of privacy in that we could easily hear other guests' conversations, using their bathrooms, showers, etc. The hotel did include an American breakfast each morning in an adjacent dining room. The offering included three choices of cooked eggs, accompanied by white bread toast and choice of fruit of the day or orange juice. Orange juice is your best option. Of course, weak coffee was included with complimentary top up. The insult was asking for milk which cost an additional 20 pesos. Cheap in my opinion. My rating, a very dated 2 1/2 star tourist class hotel with its best advantage being location and off street parking (which we did not use). Service staff certainly tried their best and were happy to help which made our stay more bearable. There is also a small travel agency/tour office on site. We will stay elsewhere next time we visit the beautiful city of Campeche.
