We have just returned from a week at Baron Palms Hotel in Sharm. We booked it last minute and chose it as it had such great trip advisor reviews. (You always get the odd one complaining and we chose to ignore those.) I’m very, very glad we did as this was such a fantastic stay. We went for winter sun and warmth and a good rest and that is exactly what we got. The hotel was very peaceful with adults only (I believe over 16’s) There were a mix of nationalities-Brits, Italians, Norwegians, Russians and Ukrainians. Everybody was respectful of each other’s need for space and quiet. The hotel is beautiful and so, so clean with manicured lawns and shrubs. There are 2 pools adjacent to each other-one heated and one not. In February very few people were in the unheated one but the heated one was still never ever busy. I’m not sure how full the hotel was but there were plenty of sun beds and the poolside/pool felt extremely relaxed. We were served drinks throughout the day by ‘Said’ who never stopped shuttling between the bar and sun beds-honestly he never stopped and was brilliant. (The drinks marked with an asterisk were all included in the all inclusive deal.) The food was also very good. Breakfast is served in the main restaurant where there is an absolutely enormous choice to suit everybody. Again, tonnes of tables and absolutely no hustle and bustle. Lunch was available in the pool bar or in the main restaurant-again something for everyone and with served all inclusive drinks. Dinner is available in main restaurant or you can book (in the lobby) to eat in the a la carte Poolside Bar. The latter is transformed at night in to a very pretty place to eat looking over the pool. The other option is the Egyptian Resturant, located in the boulevard just past the pool. Again it’s a la carte and go hungry as you’ll be served loads! We never got to the bottom of how many evenings you can visit these two places in the week but we went to both during our week. We had a room which did not look over the pool and were initially a bit disappointed but we needn’t have been. All the rooms are the same internally and we spent such little time in it. Besides we had regular visits from Hoopoes (beautiful birds) as our room looked over a grass lawn with hedging so not like it was a hideous wall…The rooms were absolutely spotless. I don’t know how long our wonderful cleaner ‘Mahmoud’ spent in each room but each visit felt like a complete deep clean. The beach was 30 seconds where there are loads of lovely sun beds with natural parasols for shade. The snorkelling was fabulous-just walk to the end of the jetty on your right as you look out to sea and use the steps to get in. So many beautiful fish of all colours, shapes and sizes. There is a lifeguard sitting there to advise if necessary. The beach bar is based there too where you can sit and have drinks, light snacks or the waiter will serve you drinks at your sunbed. What a wonderful hotel and staff this is. The s
