The Belmont

Beautifully decorated Victorian hotel with stylish touches everywhere. Clean fresh and airy the rooms have a timeless feel that still maintains the classic atmosphere of the period. Being in the heart of Shanklin it is an ideal base for touring the island The owners are hands on and very friendly,nothing is too much trouble for them and they really enhance the experience. My wife suffers from coeliac disease which requires a gluten free diet and cross contamination is a risk when away. We had no issues what so ever at The Belmont and Linda ensured my wife was looked after without making her feel a nuisance,which happens at many establishments. If you are visiting the island either for business or pleasure we would thoroughly recommend this hotel in every way. We will definitely be booking here when we return to the island.

Linda and Des made us feel at home, and went the extra mile to welcome us to their colonial style home. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The room was not that big but sufficient for our needs, and the bar downstairs was well stocked. The location is up the hill, ideal for the village, but a short stroll downhill to the sea front. There's a cliff lift for the steep return if you don't fancy tackling the hill!!

We came back for a return visit from last year and am pleased to report that the high standards have remained in place; the warm welcome from Lyn and Des who could not do enough to make the visit a hugely enjoyable one; the excellent breakfasts that get the day off to a great start and their local knowledge which answered all our queries. Already planning another return visit - please keep up the good work !

The owners really demonstrated that they understand hospitality. They could not have been more attentive & helpful. Breakfasts were excellent, both buffet & cooked. The rooms are elegantly furnished, spacious, clean and comfortable. The location provides parking and is a short walk from the beach and town. Well recommended.

Des and Linda are great hosts, stayed here twice now, breakfast is included which is very nice, swimming pool at the back which is lovely, rooms are nice and cosy, Also bar in hotel where drinks are reasonably priced. 5 minute walk to the beach and chine, in all nice location, will definitely be coming back.

Our hosts, Linda and Des, were very welcoming. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of pillows to chose from. Complimentary wine, crisps and chocolate were a nice touch. Excellent breakfast. Lots of local knowledge from Linda and Des, who were genuinely interested to know what we were up to. Really useful to receive a list of local restaurants prior to our arrival, which enabled us to call ahead and book tables for popular restaurants.

Great Week in a lovely hotel. Arrived by bus and had a bit of trouble finding it because we got on wrong Shanklin bus (No 3 bus and get off at Daishes Stop is our advice). We had a lovely room with chocolates/wine and crisps as we had paid for a superior room The breakfast options were lovely and catered for all appetites. The Eggs Royale and Mushroom Benedict were awesome. The breakfast room was large with plenty of windows. Plenty of tourist leaflets and most importantly bus timetables in reception (the island is so easy to get around by bus is our tip!)

We have visited the Belmont for the past 5 years and it never fails the moment you check in you are welcomed by Linda and des , the rooms are lovely and clean , excellent choice of breakfast there is the bar which is fully stocked and a swimming pool, plenty of room to park your car and only a 5 minute stroll to the old village and a 10 minute walk down hill to the beach .
