Serengeti Sametu Camp

Wow! What an experience this was … a beautiful, luxurious retreat in the middle of Serengeti. The people here were so warm and friendly. Everyone was smiling and indulged our efforts to speak a few words of Swahili! The food was outstanding and our box breakfast and lunches for the game drives were prepared with so much care! A special shout out to John who was just the nicest person! He took such great care of all our needs and always had the biggest smile on his face! It was something staying in the park; at night you could hear so many different animals and in the evenings we could see elephants, giraffes and other animals from our rooms and the common areas! Highly, highly recommend a stay here!

Semetu Camp is an Oasis in the vastness of the Serengeti. The central area has a lovely open area bar with fire pit as it does get chilly. The dining area is simple but well appointed and the food options are great. The staff are, as always in Tanzania, exceptional. The individual accommodation rooms are for the most part canvas walled with an excellent shower. I can’t stress how important this is after a dusty day on safari. The veranda area looks out onto the Serengeti plane and at night, you can hear the wildlife nearby. That in itself is amazing. Each unit also has a fire pit and the staff will light it if required. A great way to see the sunset, which is spectacular. The rooms are well appointed but be aware that there is no ac, just a ceiling fan, and due to solar power only, no hair dryers are permitted. No big deal at all. In fact it’s reassuring that the environmental footprint is small. At night, you are collected from your room by vehicle due to the risk of wandering wildlife. How good is that!

A Great Safari. We had a fantastic experience in Tanzania. We got to See the big 5 After just a few days. Lodges were also comfortable Even in the middle of the bush..They also gave us the possibility to spend some days in Zanzibar. What a bash! We will be back and we highly recommend them.

Very Nice camp, the rooms are amazing, the staff is friendly! Our host was Ramadhan, a very nice young man, with a lot of knowledge, sense of humor and very helpful! The place is amazing you feel like sleeping in the bushes but in a luxury way! I have the opportunity to experience some elephants just right out of my window, be side the view and the fact that you are sleeping in the Serengeti National park 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

This is a beautiful camp well out in the Eastern Serengeti plains. The tent cabins are very nicely done and the facility won't disappoint the most discriminating safari buff. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The beds are extremely comfortable. Views from the rooms are expansive. Animals abound in the area and a leopard has her territory on the property. The food is good but don't expect cordon bleu preparations. The wifi works in the rooms not just the reception area albeit it's slow as all over the bush. Lions frequently serenade your sleep at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at Sametu and would certainly return.

Great location really in the center of the national park. The staff were very nice and helpful with any request. The rooms could be a little bit more clean but we were very satisfied. The staff danced and sang for us to make us feel welcome. Lions and Hipos came to visit.

We have enjoyed every bit of our stay; from the customer service to the housing, to the food, the location, it's all just amazing. If anyone is looking for a place to be while visiting Serengeti national park, then Sametu camp is a place to be. We can not wait to come back again with the whole family.

It was an amazing experience. The hotel is beautiful and the Room was perfect. The best way to enjoy a real african experience. You can hear all the animals outside the Room at night and it was amazing! All the staff is really kind and the attention was exellent!

Overpriced substandard facilities. Freezing cold bedroom. Ugly architecture, dark and dingy. Dirty dark and cold bathroom. Window stained with dead bugs and dust. No heaters to compensate. Very depressing. No hot water. We were forced to to ask them to boil water and put it into buckets in order to wash ourselves by using an empty margarine container. Unheard of when we have paid £900 to be in this tacky facility worthy of a YMCA student accommodation Location of the property is very bad. Surrounded by bog, mud and muddy Savannah. Unsightly views. Reception area very poor. The common toilet facility is substandard and unsightly. The place is reminiscent of an army barrack. The dining room is reminiscent of an army dining mess or a school, lacking in ambiance and atmosphere. The food is American style, bland and smelly. Inedible for the price we paid. The place stank of trans fats and crisco. We could not stand the taste. The bedroom was full of cockroaches and dead bugs. My husband contracted gastrointestinal disease from their food and lack of hygiene. We was off sick for 48 hours which spoilt his Xmas. We were forced to check out 12 hours later to move to Four Seasons instead which was heaven in comparison and was worth every penny. We demand full refund on account on this. The staff though were nice, they tried to appease us but ultimately it’s the management and ownership fault
