Embalakai Authentic Camp

Of all the places we stayed on our East African safari, this was my favorite. It wasn't the nicest, it didn't have the best food and the amenities were minimal, but I loved the people there and how remote it was. This was the only place we stayed that wasn't enclosed by a security fence so there was no strolling around after dusk and before dawn. If you needed to go somewhere, you called on the radio and one of the Maasai guards would come and escort you. Same thing to get to your tent after dinner. In the morning, they would either tell us what animals they saw during the night (cape buffalo and hippo during our stay), or we'd see the tracks where the ground was soft. Also, we could hear the lions and they were close and on both sides of the camp. The tents were nice enough. Not even the most glamorous tents we stayed in but they were clean, had a shower and a toilet and we were always so tired by the end of the day, we had no trouble going to sleep. The food was good and more than enough. Again, not the best food we had at a camp or lodge we stayed at, but it was tasty, and the chef and his staff were so nice and personable. It was nice to sit on the patio in the evening before dinner and have a drink and watch the baboons just across the river come to the tree they stay in every night and jostle for position in the branches. It was a tremendous place to relax and just enjoy being in the middle of the Serengeti. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a place to stay there.

People here treat us like their family, helped us with anything we needed, making our stay one of the best experiences of our lives. Food was excellent, the infrastructures are so comfortable ,people very friendly and helpful and the environment made you feel like the jungle and Savana is our home. I thank every single one of them especially the great friends I made for life Rakanja and Emmanuel that helped me feel unique.

Amazing amazing amazing. - this place is incredible….service excellent, camp excellent - wildlife walks around the camp. Very safe though. Can’t recommend enough. Facilities are totally safe, very clean and hot water available on tap. Great bathroom facilities and most of all the comfiest bed!!

How can such comfort exist in the middle of the Serengeti! Camp Embalakai is AMAZING! My spouse and I were more comfortable here in the middle of the wilderness than even the hotels we stayed at! No amenities lacking. EVERYTHING we needed right here in our - tent!? Hard to even notice it is a tent! Furnishings, beautiful bed, private bathroom! Hot water! Electricity! ….Wi-Fi!! We had no idea camping could be so comfortable. And if that is not enough, their staff is amazing, all their people made us feel like royalty. They anticipated our needs before we even asked! The experience was breathtaking. We were kept safe at night by the Maasai warriors like our beloved new friend Rakanja, while their staff wined and dined us. Chef John expertly prepared our meals to our liking. What an unbelievable experience. To our new friends at camp Embalakai, Thank you! from the bottom of our hearts. We will remember you all with joy. We don’t think you could have done any better. Anyone thinking of staying in the Serengeti to experience her beauty, think no further, and think of camp Embalakai, and the beauty of her people. You will not be disappointed.

This campsite was the 3rd night accomodation on our safari tour and I wish we had more nights here. We were greeted by Moses, who made us feel welcome instantly. We had wash towels and drinks on arrival. The food was cooked to perfection and was delicious. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. We were in safe hands with both them and the Maassai warriors. This camp is an open camp, which meant that animals of the Serengeti were free to roam through and they did not disappoint. With a buffalo grazing as we walked back from dinner to the calls of lions, hyeans and baboons through the night, this camp is like nothing else. I would recommend this place highly and would love to stay again myself.
