"The hotel itself was comfortable, the breakfast was good, and the other staff members I encountered during my stay were friendly and helpful.
However, my check-in experience was extremely disappointing.
I booked a Deluxe Room for 2 adults and 1 child through Trip.com. The booking clearly showed 2 adults, 1 child, and I had also submitted a special request asking for the sofa bed to be prepared before arrival.
At check-in, the receptionist informed me that the sofa bed had not been prepared because the reservation allegedly showed only 2 adults. When I showed my booking confirmation, which clearly stated 2 adults and 1 child, she insisted that the hotel had not received such information.
I understand that communication issues between the hotel and booking platform can happen. However, what disappointed me most was the receptionist’s attitude. There was no apology, no effort to assist, and no willingness to find a solution. Basic information such as the breakfast location and hotel facilities was only provided when I specifically asked.
When I requested her name in order to provide feedback, she refused and replied, “I do not need to tell you.”
This review is not about the sofa bed itself, but about the unprofessional and unfriendly service I received during check-in. Fortunately, the rest of my stay and interactions with other staff members were much more pleasant."
"We enjoyed the comfort and quietness of this hotel. It is an economical hotel close to Ulm's train station as well. The location is ok and it is about a 10 minute walk from the train station and Ulm Munster. There isn't much nearby but most spots to see in Ulm are about 10 to 20 minutes away and there are plenty of good restaurants throughout Ulm that aren't too far away from the hotel.
This is a true economy hotel and it has standard offerings similar to other B&B hotels. They have a small table, a couple of stools, a small TV and some space to hang up clothes and put your things. The bed is comfy, the wifi is good, the room was clean, and the room was very quiet at night. The temperature was easy to control for our room with the AC unit that blew plenty of heat in December and quickly warmed up the room. We also learned during this stay that you could borrow a kettle at the front desk but you need to pay for the tea bags. The bathroom was good and the shower offers good pressure and the temperature is easy to control. You may want to consider bringing your own products because they have an all in one body cleanser here.
One thing we thought could improve the hotel is a better means to access the hotel if you arrive early because they don't always leave the door open/unlocked as we found out when we arrived to drop off our bags around 11 am. Not all staff here speak English either but they were good when we checked in. They do have a self check in kiosk outside the lobby but it didn't seem to be working when we visited and we would be slightly concerned if we came very late to check in because it seems their front desk is not always manned. They use a code to access the hotel after hours but you need to check in first and that same code is used to unlock your room's door.
The hotel has street parking nearby as well as a parking garage underneath. The hotel offers a discounted breakfast if you use their application and there may be a membership to get a free breakfast during your stay. They have drinks, snacks and pizza available at the front desk too."
"I stayed at the Maritim Hotel Ulm and had a mixed but overall decent experience, with the breakfast being the clear highlight of the stay.
The breakfast was excellent — very fresh, with changing daily offerings that made it enjoyable to visit every morning. A particularly impressive touch was during the New Year period, when the hotel extended breakfast service until 14:00 to accommodate guests after late celebrations. That level of flexibility was highly appreciated. The breakfast room itself was clean and well maintained, although the interior design already feels somewhat dated.
On the downside, the hotel overall shows its age. The roughly 30 years of operation are visible in parts of the interior and general appearance. Additionally, the service felt more aligned with local standards rather than the international level typically expected from a 4-star hotel. For example, storing a suitcase for a few days between stays required a longer discussion than expected, which reduced the feeling of convenience and guest orientation.
Overall, the hotel is still a solid choice, especially for guests who value a strong breakfast offering, but some modernization and service process improvements would further enhance the experience."
"Excellent location in between of cafes / restaurants/ direct opposite to the Munster and short working distance to the river Danube.
We found the typical functional Motel One standard with a nice bar + rooftop.
All was clean with very supporting staff members."
