Over rated hotel. Not worth the 500 euros per night. Could easily find a hotel for less. Also when booking on this site, the algorithm booked my room for one month sooner. It was absolute hell getting this straightened out and charged me an additional 300 euro. So be wary!!!!

Just had a wonderful stay at Castel Hortenberg. We had a large group of 14 and the experience could not have been better. Pool area is fantastic. The dinner was amazing (we did the tasting menu with the wine pairing). But the customer service was really incredible. My wife left her watch in our room and Tatiana (who is the absolute best!) drove it over to our next hotel that was 30 miles away. So thoughtful and above the call of duty!

We went from aTuscany country villa to Bolzano urban setting. I was worried I’d be a bit disappointed after such a beautiful stay at Hotel Fontelunga in Tuscany. You drive through a busy small city with hustle and bustle to a beautiful gated hotel and grounds. Castle Hortenberg has done a wonderful job of restoring an ancient castle with modern amenities. I wish I could accurately describe the room design. We had clean lines and modest pops of color. Contemporary for sure yet soft and inviting. This is a five star hotel and for good reason. Service, ambiance, and food were all extraordinary. The pool is gorgeous but the water is a bit cool. Bolzano is the gateway to the Dolomites. Stay here and be spoiled then venture into the high country for the day. The marketplace in Bolzano is impressive and reminded me of what it might have been like decades ago shopping!!

With Bolzano picked simply as a midway stop for our drive from Germany to Tuscany, we weren't expecting too much of the town but this hotel looked promising. We were pleased that BOTH exceeded our expectations. The city is vibrant and picturesque to where we wish we had stayed a few days instead of just a day and a half. As for Hotel Hortenberg, it was delightful and had an impressive feel. Our room (101) was clean, spacious, quiet, tastefully decorated, and with a generously sized bathroom. We found the staff to be welcoming and accommodating throughout our stay. The breakfast bar had something for everyone, with all selections fresh and well supplied. The garden and pool area were a pleasant oasis where barely a noise was to be heard from outside the property walls. The view up the mountain towering over the hotel and neighborhood was impressive. We hope to return to this area one day and to choose this hotel again.

My stay at Castel Hortenberg was an absolute delight. The Renaissance castle, meticulously restored, offered the epitome of luxury in the heart of Bolzano. The comfortable rooms, exceptional service, and exquisite dining options exceeded expectations. The spa area provided a serene escape, making the overall experience truly stunning. Highly recommended for a luxurious stay at the gateway to the Dolomites.

Exquisite! My family of four was delightfully surprised at the wonderful beauty and service and this amazing property. It started with a long, beautifully tree shaded gated driveway that opened at the end to reveal a beautiful small castle...and things only got better. Greeted by an extremely welcoming Thomaso (sorry about spelling) and shown a beautifully crafted modern and perfectly appointed room that felt like a suite. Welcome cookies and water. An offer for a welcome drink at reception. A beautiful pool area. An amazing breakfast assortment. The whole experience, even its onsite parking and proximity to walk to town. A+ Don't book any other place in Bolzano... Castel Hortenberg is PERFECTION...
