This is a historical hotel where the author of James Bond books once lived and where one of the movies was filmed.
The rooms are good quality.
The spa has a swimming pool, jacuzzi, massage showers, hammam, sauna. However, they refused to give me more than 1 towel per visit.
The breakfast is good quality. You can order a custom-made omelette with various ingredients. The fruit choice included mango and papaya even in winter.
The only unpleasant moment was that they tried to downgrade the room category for us (give a lower category room than originally booked, even though it was in low season). I have never experienced that before in my entire life. Fortunately, thanks to an efficient intervention of the trip.com customer support, we managed to get the exact room type that we originally booked, but there was a little bit of a stress, so I advise everyone to double-check directly with the hotel what room category you will be put in BEFORE you arrive.

This was my countless time at the hotel, but I had to tell the reception staff. Although I don’t need or want a red carpet return. It would be nice to be remembered. So may be a new computer would help?!
Nevertheless, the hotel is charming and staff are nice and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, but may be some more power sockets, for the times we live in, would be extremely helpful.
The spa is amazingly relaxing and well looked after. A heated outdoor pool is very much needed and I’m sure would be welcome by other guests
The bar ais nice in the evening, but the cafe attached could be lovely, but needs a complete makeover.
Can’t help thinking that it’s days are unfortunately numbered - I’m sure major hotel chains are banging on the door to get their dirty hands on destroying it and making it another intercontinental or Sheraton or mandarin 😩

On the whole the staff were excellent with the exception of reception; they were lovely but had to be reminded twice of some of the details of our booking E.g. a discount on food and drinks plus a bottle of wine in the room.
The breakfast is excellent as is the bar, with a great range of cocktails and a fascinating history.

Excellent. Fantastic hotel. Staff very friendly, helpful and provide great customer service. Historic hotel that gets it right on so many levels. We had an enjoyable and very comfortable stay. The best.
