We are halfway through a 10 night stay and so far are feeling pretty underwhelmed. The hotel itself is beautiful and the location is stunning, though remote. We don’t mind that too much though and are happy to walk to Santa Teresa / Capo Testa and the local beaches. However, the service at the hotel is definitely not up to standard. We asked to hire bikes (which is advertised on their website, and shown on a price list), only to be told they had no bikes to rent. The air conditioning in the room was stuck at 24 degrees, which for us is just much too hot to sleep in. We explained this to the reception staff and they said it was centrally controlled but they’d speak to maintenance about it. The following day we returned and they said the same thing. Obviously no conversation took place so I spoke with the tui rep and thankfully it was sorted out very quickly. However, if tui had not intervened, I don’t believe that we’d have been taken notice of at all. The air conditioning in the gym is also pretty non-existent, though the equipment is good and it’s a nice space. We decided to attend the Pilates session one evening which was advertised to us as being at 6pm. We attended the location a few minutes early, to find nobody there so assumed we’d got the wrong place. We spoke to reception staff to double check and they looked at us as if we had made it up. Finally they got in touch with the instructor who told them that it had been moved to 4pm. The reception staff, who had minutes earlier known nothing of the Pilates, informed me that they had called all of the rooms to make them aware, but said they’d forgotten my room. They then asked which my room number was! Not the only time we were lied to… I asked if anything else on the sheet was incorrect, to be told it pretty much all was. Why they bother with it, I don’t know! The food is boring. It’s not inedible but it’s mostly cold (intended to be) with one small area of hot canteen like food, with very basic boiled veg and pasta in a tomato sauce. Much like you’d expect at school. Breakfast is fine. There are other restaurants nearby and I’d definitely recommend those over staying at the buffet. We are yet to try the a la carte (with differing information being given by reception as to whether it’s included in the half board or not! We will find out…) Even the basics are not done well, with toilet roll not being replaced, cleaning staff not arriving until gone 5pm (when we’re trying to get ready to go out) and the cleaning cart is left outside of our door all day, everyday. Which feels unnecessary and hazardous in case of a fire. Today we wanted to book an excursion. I spoke with the excursion staff just after midday to be told that the excursion currently had 6 people booked onto it, and it needed 8 to go ahead. She said that if my husband and I booked, that would make 8 so it would secure the trip. I was told to come back after 4pm though, as they were closing at 12:30. This was still 15 minutes away bu
