Magnifique hotel, mise a part la simplicité des chambre et la télévision non connecté tout etait nickel. Le cadre est jolir le service impeccable.

If your English this is definitely a review for you.. i paid for my son and daughter in law to come to this hotel for 4 days as part of a 2 centre package with Mauritius for their honeymoon, well where do I start with what I have been told, they were ignored when trying to buy drinks, they were not made to feel special at all with it being their honeymoon, they were invited for a meal on Sunday night and an hour before a note was put under their door to say the restaurant was closed and they would have to go to the buffet, with no apology and they have evidence that the restaurant was actually closed on a Sunday so why did the hotel tell them they could go, in fact it sounds pretty clear the hotel had no intention of doing a meal for them and singled them out to be made to feel like 2nd rate citizens. They were made to feel extremely unwelcome as if they had just walked off the streets because they don't speak french. Out of all the staff only 3 made an effort with them. They actually couldn't wait to leave the hotel, which for their honeymoon was utterly devastating to hear. I have lodged a formal complaint with the tour operator I used and they are investigating. Extremely disappointed as I was told this was a 5* hotel with 5* service and from what I've been told and the videos I've been sent it's no more than a 3 at best. They said they would NOT recommend anyone unless you speak french to go to this hotel.

We spent a couple of days in Lux St Gilles for our honeymoon - we loved it! From the moment we arrived, the service was incredible. We received delicious drinks on arrival and the staff were exceptionally welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough to help. We were checked in efficiently and then given a tour to our room and around the property. We were upgraded which was a lovely surprise and the room was breath-taking. The scenery can only be described as paradise. The food was also amazing and so tasty and again, the staff were fantastic. There was plenty to do with a short walk into the next village to go whale watching as well as having the beach at the hotel to just sit and relax. Our only regret is that we did not stay long enough!! We will definitely be back! Thank you again to Lux St Gilles and all the staffing team.

We had a great time here. Most of the staff were great and the food lovely. The room was really good too. Most staff don’t speak much English, which is fine as it’s a French speaking island. But there was usually someone who spoke English to hand who was more than willing to help. Which we really appreciated. The reason for the average score was our meal on our last night. We went to la Plage restaurant. First to arrive, seated and drink and food order taken. Food and drink arrived - after which we were actively ignored. A French couple on table next to us had 3 courses and multiple drinks but even when we called the wait staff they walked away. I get some brits can be obnoxious but we were nothing of the sort. After an hour of waiting they eventually took our plates. We asked for a drinks menu to sample some rum, and we knew what desserts we were having. Menu deposited, then back to being ignored. We eventually decided to leave but did complain to the manager on the way out. 2 hours to just get one drink and one plate of food is poor. They had a conference running which didn’t help, but the restaurant wasn’t that busy - it had certainly been busier earlier in the week. It made us feel like we weren’t valued customers and tainted our trip. The rest of the stay did somewhat redeem it all, but it did upset my wife while we’re on a very expensive holiday!

As other reviews have mentioned, this hotel is definitely not of 5 star standard. It is a bit tired and in need of renovation, and whilst the service was fine, it wasn’t what we had expected. The grounds, beach and pool are all lovely. Rooms are nice and bed very comfy. Bathroom looks old and tired. Food at the hotel is really overpriced. A small lunch and two soft drinks for two people cost about £70! Breakfast was nice with a good range of options, but there were hundreds of ants in all the sugar pots 🤢 A bit underwhelming but still a lovely stay. We went on to stay in the Lux Grand Gaube in Mauritius which was exceptional and definitely more in line with our expectations.

This hotel was probably 5* in its day, but certainly no longer. Although the grounds are beautiful and well kept the rooms leave a lot to be desired. The shower, which is over a bath, very different to enter, due to the height, is absolutely pathetic, no power whatsoever. If you decide to bath, the bath empties within minutes so yo need to keep water running. The toiletries are poor quality and not replenished regularly. All restaurants have to be pre booked for dinner, even the buffet, which is at best mediocre. To be fair the food at both the a la carte restaurants was excellent, but pretty pathetic that on half board basis you only get 2 courses, and a lot of those incur a supplement. This is definitely not a 5* hotel and needs a complete review and revamp.
