Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa

The hotel itself is nice. Great location. Bus stop and shops are all very close to the hotel. Everyday different activities for kids and adults. Great access to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Great bonus was to have drinks in the fridge that were available for free (available on your move in day, but do not get refilled for free. But we didn’t expect it in first place). Also, a great bonus and surprise was to get a birthday cake for my dad’s anniversary. The cake was delicious! However, cleanliness of the rooms’ floor wasn’t great. Maybe should say… it was actually bad. I couldn’t walk there bare feet, as all dirt would stick to my feet right away. In one of the rooms there were no toiletries, and we got them only on the third day after I had to follow up with reception a few times. Also towels weren’t replaced frequently enough. On some occasions we didn’t have full set of towels required. We also had a room with hot/jet tub. And in fairness, it does require a good repair or even replacement. As the jets in the tub didn’t work well, some were completely out of order. Also, it was madness when people were reserving sun lounges from early morning, when the pool isn’t open yet and despite the hotel rules that do not allow to do so. We were lucky to have a balcony with sun lounges in our room, so on the second day we didn’t bother to play this “game” anymore. The pool was nice, however the water in the pool was very cold. Also, kids eat ice creams and other foods by the pool, and freed up sun lounges sometimes had melted chocolate or ice cream on them. The food was ok. But not for vegetarians or vegans. The family were ok, but I ended up eating same thing every morning. And some days couldn’t find anything for my dinner, apart from some boring meals, like bread, some spaghetti/chips/rice that were always available. Even fresh salad, was just okayish. But that’s not what you expect from a 5-star hotel. Also, hot food wasn’t hot enough. Overall, the hotel is ok. But it’s not a 5-star hotel. Not even close. And I don’t think it’s worth to pay that much for a stay there.

Brilliant holiday for the first time as a family of 4. Loved the location! Beach was right across from the hotel and Plenty of bars about for a couple of cocktails when taking the kids for an afternoon nap. The staff were really good throughout the hotel, Food and drinks quality at the hotel was of a good standard too. We upgraded our room to a junior suite which was worth it just for the huge terrace and hot tub with amazing views. We have stayed at lots of 5 star hotels over the years and would rate this as a good 4 star which was brilliant value for the price we paid. If your looking for luxury then this hotel isn’t for you, but it’s a perfect family hotel in a lovely location and we would definitely return.

Very nice hotel. Conall and Violetta were so nice at the mini Club with our kids. Kids had so much fun with mini disco at nigth. I recommend this hotel if your travelling with family and kids. Very clean room, hotel and restaurant.

Just got back from a 10 night stay at this hotel, and had an absolutely fantastic time. Stayed at this hotel twice before (2015,2016) and it has got even better since then. Staff were lovely and attentive from the moment we checked in, suitcases were brought straight to our room which was nice. The hotel was kept very clean, the staff do work very hard. Mini fridge stocked daily with fizzy drinks and water. It was my partners birthday during our stay and he was so happy to see that a birthday cake was delivered while we were out, such a nice gesture from the hotel. Breakfast was nice and lots of choice (breads, meat, cheeses, cereals and also fresh baked goods). We normally ate lunch at the pool bar which served burgers, pizzas etc. The food at dinner was nice although we are somewhat picky eaters and did struggle some nights. Although it’s not that the food was bad, it’s just that it wasn’t to our tastes but there were always chips and meats available. We ate at the Italian restaurant one night which was ok, also ate at the Asian which was amazing. The pool area was busy with families with young children, but we managed to find sunbeds everyday on the terrace area which was very quiet. There were people reserving sunbeds at stupid o’clock every morning as usual, staff don’t do anything about this. Beach is also nearby where you can get beds for a few euros. Serve yourself sangria, beer and soft drinks are open at the pool bar from 10:30am, which was fab. The main bar never had any queues and served nice cocktails, also crips/nuts available which we loved. Kids club was on from half 8 and then the adult entertainment started at half 9 which included singers, a magician and flamenco during our stay which was good. We enjoyed the entertainment, children will not be bored staying at this hotel (animation team are great). We enjoyed the local pubs in the area especially Coconut bar which had amazing cocktails. We didn’t go on any excursions so can’t comment on that. All in all we had an absolutely amazing time at Protur Roquetas, and we will definitely be returning in the future.

First time going abroad with my daughter and we had an amazing time. Hotel is awesome weather was amazing and beach on doorstep was beautiful. Shout out to Avi one of the entertainers there who was fun and lively and lovely. Wide variety of food and drink. Did a trip to mini Hollywood which was an awesome day out and highly recommend. Staff were lovely and room was lovely Can’t fault it. Can’t wait to come back. Thankyou😀

So I wanted to point out a few FACTS This is not a 5 star hotel The staff are great This is very much a family hotel The food is average The hotel is very clean I read so many reviews about this hotel and really expected it to be better than it is. I’m not sure what other 5 star hotels people have been to, but this doesn’t compare to one’s we have stayed at in Greece and Tenerife . It’s an OK 4 star. All the staff are great and the hotel is very clean. The food in the one and only buffet restaurant is average at best. Although you are not supposed to reserve sun beds before 8am that rule is not enforced. The free safe and restocked mini bar is a really nice touch though. Pool towels are provided with a €15 deposit and can be changed daily. The beach is shingle and very clean, get some beach shoes and you’ll be fine. The promenade is nice and flat and has a cycle path which is great. Lots of mosquitoes with lots of people being bitten despite using spray! We have enjoyed our stayed but won’t be back unfortunately.

We are experienced travellers and like nice hotels. Family of 2 adults, 17, 9 and 3 children. We have been to mainland Spain twice before; Torromelinos and Chiclana. Usually holiday long haul or the canaries out of season. General Saw this hotel and it’s reviews, along with a good price and thought we’d give it a try for October half term. We weren’t aware this isn’t s tourist area and that 90% of the area would be closed down. It’s a low key resort anyway but it felt like a ghost town. Hotel The hotel is lovely and this reviews saving grace. All areas ore clean and well maintained, the rooms are lovely and big. We had the basic twin and had two for our family to 5. Proper their bed which is always appreciated. Luis accommodated our requests for low floor and next to each other-thank you. Lovely bathroom, plenty of storage, clothes dryer on the balcony, hand soap and toiletries and a free mini bar-nice touches. Maid service daily. Pool The pool was a big disappointment and we couldn’t really use it due to the beyond freezing temperature. The hotel had done a complete water change making it much colder than it would have been. I can’t imagine how this pools size can accommodate high season!? Indoor pool was nice but very small, heated slightly. Food The food was lovely and surprised us. We had been to a 5* in Turkey in May and preferred the variety of meats and seafood here at the Protur. We have no complaints about the food and enjoyed each meal. Beach Lovely beach across from the hotel. Sadly all the beach chairs and umbrellas were taken away on our 3rd day which was very disappointing and stopped us from having days at the beach, apparently the council state the resorts closure but it could be at least until end a October especially when you have a hotel full of guests! Local area A ghost town with only a few shops open sadly all selling exactly the same thing. The promenade is lovely for a walk but there is nowhere to really walk to. We like low key places but here is just too quiet for us. Even in high season seeing what is on offer is not really our thing, we need more history and sightseeing, culture and a mixture of clientele-sadly this felt too British tourist for us! Medical Our toddler needed to see a Dr and the Vithas medical centre is 5 minutes down the road, turn right out of the hotel on the opposite side. €50 Euro to be seen and then the coat of the prescription which was very reasonable and surprisingly cheap. We really enjoyed the hotel for a quiet week away but we wouldn’t return due to the area. Low season is closed and high season would feel crammed into this hotel so unfortunately we wouldn’t return but that isn’t due to the hotel.

As other reviews have said, this is a 4 star hotel. However, we could not fault much at all and it was well Worth the price we paid. We were impressed with the food in all restaurants and the staff were lovely. It was my husbands birthday and he received a cake and was sung to in the Italian restaurant. The pools were nice although cold! Mexican night in the main restaurant was good. Staff work hard and always are keen to help. If you can, try and get a room on the left side of the hotel as the other side has no sun on the balcony from 1pm. Resort was quiet but my son loved the football pitch next to the pool and made some friends spending most afternoons there. There were no big queues and you never struggled to get a drink. There was always somewhere to eat and drink. We would return as we got this holiday for an excellent price but in July or august as the weather was a little too windy. Try and go on a bike ride if you can, great couple of hours spent and only 7 euros per two hours.

On the outside this hotel looks like a 5 star hotel in reception and pool area 5 stars but then you go into the dark bedrooms rooms very basic and this knocks it down to a 3 star. The food is awful and tasteless and cold again not what we expect in a 5 star hotel we have stayed in this resort loads of times and always said we would love to stay in this hotel but we are really disappointed with it and stayed in far better hotels for alot less cost on a positive note staff lovely and friendly.
