We stayed at this property for a number of stays over six months while making visits to the Mayo Clinic. The staff is to be highly commended for their incredible sense of service to the Clinic customer base. Many times we observed people in serious physical condition being treated with empathy and accommodation. The front desk and shuttle staff made it clear that they were there to assist with a wide variety of needs. Rooms are clean, safe, quiet and comfortable. Kitchen is well-appointed with whatever you need to prepare meals. Plenty of linens are provided for bathroom and pull-out sofa. Pool area is nice, hot tub worked every time we visited. The outdoor seating areas around the property are a bonus. Tons of shopping and restaurants are within a few minutes' walk, including Macy's, Barnes & Noble, Trader Joe's, Panera, burger joints, and sit-down dining. Shuttle takes guests between hotel and Mayo / St. Mary's, or to the grocery store, the mall, or restaurants, and I believe the schedule was 6 am to 9 pm. The final deal-maker here, is the availability of EV charging facilities in the underground parking garage. Every Hilton property should consider adding this resource.
Location Location Location The HGI is very convenient to Mayo Clinic via Skywalk and the Subway Proximity to The Galleria and a large variety of dining options at an array of price points is a definite plus. Front desk staff were polite and eager to help . Self parking is off property about 2 Minute drive /5 minute walk from hotel. A complimentary shuttle is available for Mayo Clinic ; Other locations will incur a fee. Valet parking on property is $21. The price of our stay was about $250 for two nights . Ask for the Mayo rate; I partially paid with Hilton Honor points. We did have a little trouble having special requests honored … daily cleaning/ fresh towels, extra blanket, coffee replenished. There seemed to a bit of communication breakdown between the front desk and housekeeping, We experienced a similar issue with the Chesterton HGI in Chesterton , IN Just a heads up … the front lobby is being remodeled and upgraded. Continental breakfast ($ 7.95) and full hot breakfast ( $14.95) are available during the remodeling process
The hotel staff was friendly and provided good service. The room was clean and comfortable. I love the modern style of the hotel and the rooms. I like that I could control the temp in the room and warm it up more for at night sleeping. I slept very well after a long day! Thank you Hotel Indigo!
I traveled with family and we had 3 rooms: 2x Kings and 1 Double. We chose the Kahler Grand for a number of reasons: proximity to the Mayo Clinic, the parking (valet), and teh ability to get a room at a discounted ”Patient” rate. One of the King rooms and the Double were all very nicely outfitted and seemed very much comfortable for the stay. The King room I was in was old and had not been updated like the other King. The thermostat was a simple dial and it simply didn't work. I could dial it up for heat and...nothing. Two or so hours later it would come on blasting heat. Try to cool down and nope - the heat would stay on a bit longer, but the cool air wouldn't come on for a few hours later. Maintenance came to check on it and said they had to replace the entire HVAC motor. I was on my last night by then and didn't want to change rooms so I deferred and just suffered through another night. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The bathroom was horrific. When you opened the door to teh room the sink was immediately to your right. To get to the toilet you walked straight through. It was very tight as the door (when opened) partially blocked the toilet and totally blocked the bath. To get in or out of the tub/shower you had to swing the door back or forth and wedge yourself between the toilet and wall. The tub was small and very slippery, and the water controls were not very responsive and were hard to turn. The bath towels were extremely worn and very small, not even the size of a regular bath towel in my opinion. I was able to see the room directly below mine during the course of my stay and it had the same set up, s hopefully they have the intent to refit these rooms at some point. Our first night in we ate at the hotel restaurant, and while the staff there seemed a bit overwhelmed we still had courteous service and the food was good. The biggest thing the Kahler has going for it has to be their Staff. From ZamZam at the front desk, to maintenance, to housekeeping (kept us stocked with coffee!), to the valets - EVERYONE was as kind and helpful as could be. I didn't meet a single person that wasn't ready to fall over themselves to help out or give advice on the local area. The subway level to the Mayo Clinic was easily accessed from inside the hotel, and that made it very nice as well. Yes, the hotel is showing it's age and needs some polishing BUT I would stay there again if I had to go back...I would just be sure I got a room that wasn't like my ”old” one! Thank you to the Staff and management for making the stay nice despite the circumstances of our visit!
We have stayed twice at the Hilton, and strongly agree with all of the positive comments regarding this hotel. We had a King Corner Room for each stay, and I wanted to describe the differences between the two. The rooms ending in 20 (1520, 1620, etc.) were the larger of the two and faced north and east, with primary views of the Mayo Civic Center. The rooms ending in 02 (1502, 1602, etc.) were slightly smaller and faced north and west. These rooms have spectacular views of the entire Mayo Clinic downtown location. Either room location is great and I would agree to have access to the Executive Lounge during your stay. It is worth the small extra amount for this access. Again, this is by far one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in, particularly in this country.

JJolene AAll of the employees are super friendly and very accommodating. I have stayed at Aspen Suites several times in last couple years and I see all the same faces . . which tells you something about the atmosphere and business. I love the wonderful breakfast and dinner Mon-Thurs evenings. Food is always delicious and how nice not to have wonder what going to get to eat, etc. HIGHLY recommend Aspen Suites!!
This hotel is very close to Mayo and St. Mary’s hospital. It’s about a mile from Mayo, but has shuttle service all day. You can walk to St. Mary’s if you choose. There are lots of restaurants walkable. The hotel is very clean, good breakfast area. Their breakfast times are longer than most others. The rooms were very clean and large. Daily the cleaning crew will come and change towels and trash unless you tell them not to. They are very accommodating to flexibility of your stay due to Dr appts. We were able to leave 2 days ahead of schedule with no issues. There is laundry, but they do not have a change machine or a dispenser to purchase detergent.
Jjdenke2024Stay here often. Best place in town, overall. Price is good, the place is kept up and clean. Everything always works. Staff Is kind and interactive without being overbearing. Not a bad location. All in all great!
I chose to stay at this hotel based on a previous stay that I had. The previous stay was alright. Had an issue with dirty bedding, asked for more from the gentleman at the desk, and while he did give me new bedding he was very irritated that I came down to ask for new bedding. After that it was OK. This time I stayed again while here for appointments at Mayo Clinic. It happened to be the same gentleman working that was there when I stayed the first time. We went up to the room and when I moved the bar of soap to wash my hands I found a dead cockroach just sitting on the tray with shampoo and conditioner. I took a picture and brought it down. The gentleman did move us rooms, but proceeded to tell me a story about a guy that tried to check in with his luggage crawling with roaches. Gross! He assured me he would let staff in the morning know as they ”pride themselves on not having these issues, but when I talked with the lady working at the desk the next day she had no clue about it. She said she would let the manager know, not sure if that ever happened. The next room was OK, didn't have any have any dead bugs that we could see but there was hair on the walls in the bathroom. Whatever I'll deal with it. The shower squeals when you turn the water on (it did that in the room for my previous stay too). My sister that was staying with me woke up with spots on her arms and legs and they were itchy. She had no issues before staying at this property, which really seems like there is more of a bug problem in the building than what the gentleman was trying to say. I will definitely be staying somewhere else next time and I would not recommend this property to anyone!
