Hotel Dory

While I didn’t think it was possible to have more admiration, affection, or respect for Owner Stefano and the entire Dory family, my second stay during a catastrophic weather event proved me wrong. Stefano and his team worked MIRACLES to keep cyclists happy and riding safely throughout the week. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, Dory’s bike program ran on all cylinders— including the much-beloved country house BBQ and wine tasting (neither with any rain)! When we couldn’t ride, Stefano personally guided a private tour of San Leo, followed by a magnificent multi-course lunch at a local restaurant. It felt as though the quiet comune had opened its doors just for us! I’ll never know all of the Herculean efforts by Stefano and his team, but I‘ll always remember that they never lost their cool, and never were without a SMILE. Next stay is already booked!

Incredible! The people, the food, the bikes and the rides. A unique experience where the owner of the hotel is often around and engaging in conversation with the guests. Our bike guide, Paolo was knowledgeable and fun to be with. Our entire group of 6 had a fantastic time. I highly recommend the Hotel Dory!

The staff and owner of Hotel Dory embrace the meaning of hospitality. During the 10 days of our cycling holiday, we were treated above and beyond what one would normally expect. The three buffets per day were well presented and the food was varied and tasty. The staff were friendly and polite (Thank you all! :) and the common areas (lobby, pool/spa, dining area) were always clean and nicely arranged. The cycling aspect of our stay was also top shelf. Routes were interesting, our guide was informative, and the bikes were good quality and well maintained. The final point: it was very good value. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Hotel Dory has been owned and run by the same family for three generations, and they have figured out how to make a stay at their hotel an outstanding experience. Our group of two couples, which included different levels of cyclists, stayed for a week for the cycling activities and enjoyed it for many reasons. We rode the Dolce Vita rides which focus on the culture of the area. Our guide, Paulo, took us to several historic towns and buildings and told us interesting bits about the history of the area. The food was fantastic and plentiful. The tasting activities were in the beautiful countryside and the food was outstanding. We met lots of nice people from around the world who also like to cycle. And there were lots of things to do when not cycling, or for people who may not want to cycle. All around it was a great experience and I highly recommend the Hotel Dory.

We've been to Hotel Dory three times now and each time has been an outstanding experience. I was so impressed with the loyalty of the staff that have been serving in the hotel since the first time we came 10 years ago. The level of customer service was exceptional with a genuine desire to connect with their guests. In a town where many other cycling hotels have appeared over the years, we couldn't help but go back to Hotel Dory. We came with another couple who had heard about our previous trips and wanted to see what this was all about. After their time in Dory they left making plans on when they'd return and who they would take with them next time. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who's planning a cycling holiday in Italy.

Room was clean and comfortable. It also had a nice balcony with a table and chairs. We were only there for one night, but we wished it was longer. Personnel at reception were very friendly and helpful.

We selected the hotel Dory for the combination of a family room availability, close to the beach and parking availability. When we booked the room through a site (not this one, sorry), we were offered only the B&B option, but when we called, we were able to book the dinners, the parking spot and the place at the beach. Being in the middle of August, it was not only a good idea, it was the best idea. The hotel is situated in a small and quite narrow transverse of via Dante; the unloading of the car was a bit of a challenge, since there was no space to leave it in front of the hotel. In the end I managed, but you need to take that into account. Check-in was smooth, I got the instruction for the parking lot; you have two options: we chose the cheapest (12 euro per day), which was 400 m away from the hotel, but, at least, the car, was safe and secured. The family room was sold to us as a Junior Suite, but it was not: it was a big room with a king size bed and a bunk bed for the kids, but in the same room. We got complementary water, towels, beach towels, slippers and some toilette goodies, as well. The room was anyway clean and the cleaning ladies were super efficient and kind. The air conditioning was working to perfection, which is definitively a bonus. We got breakfast and dinner; the breakfast is quite basic and I think they should diversify the offer a bit, with more local produce. Every time I got out after it, I was smelling of croissant, not too pleasant too be honest. Dinners were at buffet and we had mixed feelings; some dinners were really good and we were all satisfied, some others much less. We went to an allegedly Indian dinner with a Bollywood theme, but, a part from a samosa with tuna (which also was not great), there was nothing sounding, not even saying tasting, Indian. On the plus side, the party organised outside the hotel was really fun. The dinner we enjoyed the most was the one, when the local food was served: that was amazing. They should play more on their strengths. The hotel has a small indoor and outdoor pool; they were always crowed, but we stayed always on the beach, so no big deal. The hotel offers also free city bikes (a good number of them) and kids club entertainment. We made use of the first, but not the second, but it's something to consider. The staff and the owners are super nice. All in all, we had good time

We enjoyed another great Dory experience in June. Our first visit to this wonderful hotel was last fall and we knew then that we would be back! The hotel offers everything that's needed for an active cycling vacation. A wonderful hotel, great food, a fantastic cycling program (5 performance levels; with friendly guides and first-rate bike rentals), the beautiful surrounding landscape, and lots of friendly cycling company. The Dory staff went out of their way to accommodate any requests we had. We brought another couple this time and already have plans for our next visit!

Once I heard that Italy had bike hotels I wanted to experience one. I couldn't have chosen better than Hotel Dory. Great staff, great food, great riding, great experiences like a farm lunch. Was also fortunate enough to be there for the 25th Anniversary of Riccione bike hotels. The staff went out of their way when travel arrangements were halted due to flooding. The owner and all staff care about your experience. Don't be put off if you are a solo traveller as you will make new friends. The riding has experiences for all levels of riders. The beach is just down the street so you can swim after your ride or in the Hotel pool. May, early June would be a good time to travel. 10 out of 10! Thanks Hotel Dory!
