GHL Hotel Lago Titicaca

Hotel Lago Titicaca needs some serious renovations to claim they are a 5 star hotel. Service at the front desk was not too friendly and the restaurant seemed to follow behind which might require looking at the entire team. They have a property that is capable of being truly remarkable but ownership and management just don’t know how to make that happen. Very sad.

I do not like leaving negative comments. But this hotel does not qualify for the 5 stars shown on the hotel plaque nor is it the 4-star hotel as listed by our travel agency. It is a 3-star facility and not even at the top of this rank... The lounge and bar are nice and well-kept. The restaurant food is ok but not spectacular. The lake view is nice though not from every room. The rooms seem to have been waiting for major renovation for years and years... We arrived with the PeruRail train from Cusco - together with about 10 other couples, just like us most of them individual travelers. The front desk could not cope with this "rush" and room assignment took some time. Our "prime sunset room" was small and unpretentious, i.e. plain, old-fashioned style, worn furniture, a bathroom with a scratched door, a tub with a plastic curtain (reminding me of cheap US chain hotels in the 80ies) that did not prevent the flooding of floor and toilet seat when taking a shower. There was a stain on the linen. And we had a problem with the room temperature. The display on the wall showed 27°C and we tried in vain to switch the temperature to 18°C for the night. When contacting the reception desk we were told that the rooms had no A/C but heating only. Their advice was to open the big panorama window... "Don't worry. There is no insects at Puno." We opened it during our absence for dinner but had to close it for the night. And the temperature was still high... To be fair I would like to add that the staff was nice. But the hotel itself was a real disappointment. I wonder how they got so many top evaluations in December 2023 from people who had never before evaluated any other hotel...

Our stay was comfortable and relaxing. The views are to die for. The service was five star. Eduardo from the restaurant was exceptional. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time and to make sure we were satisfied with our meals. The hotel is remote. The hotel is clean and well maintained. It is a little dated but that would not stop us from staying here again. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this hotel.

Exclusive place to spend time with the family, in a large and beautiful pleasant hotel, it would not be more wonderful if it were not for the staff who work, especially at the reception, they have a pleasant treatment, they receive with great joy and family temperament, they made us feel like At home, my family and I are very grateful for the attention they gave us. They are willing to answer any questions, personally they gave me all the information I needed and helped me make my stay with my family the most unforgettable. The Hotel is very spacious, clean and neat so my family felt at home, all the service they provided us in the different areas was unforgettable, very friendly, respectful and attentive. I recommend this wonderful Hotel to everyone who wants to travel and have a good time with their family, this is a very good exclusive place.

The hotel staff was super helpful, friendly and listened to what you needed and helped you by going above and beyond, especially Lucio. The room was immaculately clean, spacious and the view of the lake was breathtaking. Breakfast had options for any dietary needs and fresh produce, beautiful fresh breakfast. Option to take a coffee with you as well. I also had lunch at the hotel and the food was fresh and delicious. The hotel is quiet and peaceful. The busiest time is early breakfast as everyone heads out for their daily excursions/trips which the hotel accommodates and manages well with no hassle. I would recommend this hotel for its spaciousness of green areas and views.

The location is away from busy Puno so a 10 minute taxi ride into the port or pick up from your tour agency can be arranged. The hotel is on an island of its own and has a walk which you can do around the hotel by the lake which is tranquil and peaceful which can be a short length of time or longer if you take in the views. If your heading into Puno for Lake Titicaca then this is the idealistic place to stay overlooking the lake. The Hotel is on a peninsula with a small nature reserve, but beautiful. The structure is perfect. But what pleased me the most were the staff: professional and extremely attentive. To finish, the garden is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

GHL Hotel is a true gem nestled on a secluded island. The views alone are worth the visit, offering a glimpse of paradise at every turn. Away from the city, the tranquility here is unmatched, allowing guests to unwind and recharge in peace. The rooms were spacious, elegantly furnished, and offered stunning views, creating a serene retreat after a day of exploration.

Whenever I stay here I am always amazed by how friendly and cheerful the front desk staff is. I often forget things or ask a lot of questions and I never am once left to feel like an imposition. They make sure that they are following safety protocols while also ensuring that guess experience is hampered as little as possible. The rooms are always clean and have everything that I need and want.
