We were booked into this hotel as our plans for the Patagonian Lake District fell through due to poor weather. Having flown through the night we couldn’t have arrived at a more welcoming and comfortable hotel .The staff are so friendly and the food is excellent - great breakfast choices and equally good lunch. The bed is so comfortable and the shower super also. Great location despite everything being closed for Independence Day celebrations.

I loved this hotel! The staff was really wonderful and accommodating. Juan was at the front desk each morning with a greeting of ”Good Morning Madame.” Nicolas was very helpful in arranging my stay prior to the visit, which was helpful. Every staff member was really friendly and accommodating. They served a small breakfast buffet in the main level each morning, even cooked eggs to order if you'd like. I went to this country traveling as a solo female. This was a nice location because it's walking distance to several restaurants and a lovely park. I felt completely safe in the area. My favorite was the Peruvian restaurant! I had this amazing seabass dish with scallops and calamari with a sauce on top. This was all on a bed of risotto. Chilian wine...fantastic! I wasn't familiar with this region's wine and was surprised at how good it was. My meal, paired with a lovely Chilian Sauvignon Blanc Reserve was so delicious that I went back and had the same thing the next night.
There is also a hill about a mile away that has the Christ statue, that is very walkable. There is a Japanese Garden on the hill. If you can't walk there, there is a funicular and the Uber car service worked just as it does in the US. One tip, if you're from the US or North, the maps will be backwards on Google. Just google directions to get them in the direction you're going. I got lost the first day until I did my Google search on how to fix.
The only problem I had was the language. Very few people speak English. I even went to a restaurant, fine dining at a park, quite lovely, but nobody spoke English and the menu was only in Spanish. To make matters worse, my phone died! Be prepared with how to use Google Translate, that will help, but if your phone dies, you're dead in the water. I found it very hard to communicate with people, which would not have been as bad had I not been traveling alone. I found it to be very isolating. I even took a tour with an English-speaking guide. I thought great, now I can chat with people, but NO! It was a guide who spoke Spanish, then translated to Portuguese, then English. I was the only English-speaking person on the bus. The museums, a few are only available in Spanish so no point going to those if you don't speak Spanish.
Other than the language barrier, I had a lovely time. My highlight was my hotel and the staff!

The warmest of welcome from a great team at Ugo Hotel. The hotel is well placed in a nice area. It was modern, very light, airy and clean. Our room (334) was on the third floor facing towards what looked like residential apartments. Our only wish was that our view hadn’t been slightly obscured by a wall to another part of the hotel. The reception / lobby / bar was a good place to sit. The main light hanging above made a statement. The room itself whilst not the biggest had everything we needed for a comfortable stay (3 night) during our tour. There were two big, very comfortable beds. This combined with the pillows supplied led to 3 good nights sleep. The second bed was great for laying clothes out and packing ‘ unpacking. The WC / Shower were in the ensuite with the washbasin just outside in an area divided from the bed space by a divider and hanging space. The shower was very good although some might find the floor slippy. There wasn’t a plug in the sink (by design). This was the moment we remembered the travel plug had been left at home. This was an inconvenience when shaving and meant that more water was used than might have been had there been one. We pointed this out as a water saving idea at reception who welcomed the positive feedback. There was good air-conditioning but like most you need to leave one of the key cards in if you want it to continue working when you go out. That said from an energy saving point of view it didn’t take long to cool the room down once we returned. We did turn the AC down at night as like most installations the noise can be a bit of a pain when trying to sleep. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and a nice looking bar with a fantastic team. Not everyone spoke English but we didn’t speak any Spanish but we got by just fine. We had some great Chilean wine and loved the Pisco Sour. Thanks to Laos Silizar for giving me his recipe. There is an enclosed garden area at the back close to the bar with a variety of seating among greenery and to one end a pool. The lifts were quick and we never had to wait more than a few seconds for one. There were two ice cream shops within seconds of the main entrance and a number of nice restaurants. The tallest building in Latin America Sky Costanera was only about a 10 minute walk away. By virtue of its height it has the highest viewing platform in Santiago, from where the 360 degree panoramic view from the 61st and 62nd floors including The Andes is exceptional. Beneath this is a very big shopping centre containing many restaurants of all sorts. We went our for a walk each evening in the direction of the adjoining residential. There were some nice apartment blocks / homes. The area was well lit and felt safe. To summarise we enjoyed staying at Ugo Hotel very much. All of the staff were fantastic. Postscript: Having left Santiago to visit Atacama we returned to Santiago and had a night in an airport hotel before flying home. Rather than stay within the conf
I had an exceptionally pleasant stay in the Novotel Santiago Providencia. My room was just what you'd expect in what I think it's fair to call an upper-middle-class chain hotel. It was clean; the bed was comfortable; everything worked; and there was a nice view of the neighborhood. Not everyone would care, but I appreciated the fact that the windows could be opened a little, and that the minibar wasn't stocked with expensive items I didn't want. Since I both arrived and left on night flights, I appreciated the reasonably priced early-check-in and late-checkout options available on the Accor website. Breakfasts were fine, and staff were friendly. The hotel is located in Providencia, an upscale commercial and residential neighborhood. Bustling Avenida Providencia is a block away. There's a Metro stop two blocks from the hotel, and Chile's largest mall, the Costanera Center, is just a little further from the hotel. I have no complaints at all.
I travelled to Santiago by myself, and, as it is s very big city, I was worried about staying at an unsafe location. However, I am pleased to say that the area around the hotel seemed really organized and secure, and the path to the metro station is very short and easy. About the hotel itself, the room was excellent, with a comfortable bed, a safe, a very large TV and a desk. Wi-Fi worked well (of course, not exactly perfect, but good enough), and the bathroom facilities also were perfectly adequate. The staff were kind and always ready to answer my questions and give me recommendations. Therefore, I am pleased to be able to recommend Capital Bellet to whomever wants to visit Santiago!
The room was lovely and clean. The personnel was warm and welcoming, speaking to us in Spanish (as per our wish) despite our limitations. When we found ourselves stumped, the non-English speakers would whip out their phones to find a translation and help us. Much to do just walking around the neighbourhood. Warned about possible pick-pockets we acted accordingly and had no mishaps of any kind. Santiagans were helpful and friendly everywhere we went. We had a pleasant time. The only glitches were the changing of our towels, despite the Echo-friendly sign and instructions (hang up towels not to be changed daily) and an unglued grid in the washroom that was a tripping hazard and left the room less inviting. Both were addressed promptly and with a smile.
I gave this hotel 3 stars because of its location and friendly service in the breakfast room . We checked in the evening about 9 pm and the desk clerk knew little to no English . Luckily I was traveling with someone who spoke Spanish but even he had trouble understanding the clerk. He kept asking for our exit papers for leaving Chile . Until he showed us a copy of our PDI form did we understand what he was talking about . The carpets are well worn in the hallways and the rooms , the furniture is also well worn. There was no view except our room looked into apartments across the alleyway . The welcome drink was limited to about 3 choices and again the bartender knew no English , besides having no personality. The breakfast room was pleasant and had average choices … the young lady working the breakfast room recooked our eggs as they were very runny and not edible , she remembered us the following day and Immediately had our eggs the way we preferred. She was very pleasant ! The day desk clerk spoke very good English and was very helpful storing ourluggage as we had a late pick up to the airport . The hotel was clean and had large open spaces . Very centrally located , close to the shopping center inside Gran Costanera Center , the largest and tallest building in South America . Lots of restaurants and bars close by , very nice neighborhood. We felt safe .
