I rarely go to local non-chain hotels, but I did in this instance. I have been here once or twice before a while back, and the hotel feels largely the same. It is an old hotel and you can see that throughout in parts. The check-in was easy enough but I do not like having a room on the ground floor with windows going straight out into the parking lot with views inside. The room itself was fine, though the chairs were not overly comfy and there were a few flies around which were somewhat annoying. The restaurant at the hotel is fairly limited but I imagine the food is fine. I had dinner elsewhere. The bar at the hotel Is surprisingly decent and after a long chat with the bartender as I ordered some drinks over the night it was apparent he has Respectable skill and did his job quite well with a great personality and attitude. The Moscow mule was mixed well and used a local ginger beer which was not at all bad, but the bar did not have copper mugs sadly. The hotel itself is nice enough and rustic, but it doesn't blow you away at all. The breakfast was also very lackluster and the weakest on this recent vacation trip. The best hotel in Røros I would imagine but still with room for improvement. No free coffee is also a travesty in current times.
