Pangkor Laut Resort - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

I stayed 3 days 2 nights here in March 24, for a short gets away from city. Stayed in Spa villa. Stunning natural surroundings, beautiful clean private beach which you can see sunset from the beach. Clean water. The natural part of this resort is awesome! But there are a few lots other things which I think could be better, if I compare those with other similar price hotel in Penang or other places around Malaysia. The facilities doesn't match the price paid. Here's a few of them: 1. No bidet in the room. Makes things harder, especially after filling the super big spa tub, I wonder how do we just release the water without simply cleaning of the tub before the next person using it or the next time u want to use it. Very inconvenient. The water flow is very small as well. 2. The overall facilities seems to be a bit old. The water flow in the sink is also quite slow. 3. The mattress is too soft and sagging. Like this has been used for long years which the middle sinking. Pillow is too soft, which makes the neck has no support. With combine the two, I have neck pain even though staying for only two nights and keep waking up middle of the nights to change sleep position. I think a good bed n pillow is almost the soul of a good resort, thus this is really a bit miss to me. As a Malaysian, I think this is really a bit average. Food is ok, no 'wow' feeling. Very common local Malaysia food with normal taste. The staffs are friendly and nice!

The pillows are too soft and the buffet dinner's not much of sea food selection and no other drinks were provided for free in the buffet dinner but plain water. The rest are good, the staff, the public washroom cleanliness, the swimming pool, the shuttle van to coral bay, the restaurant and etc.

The service was perfect. Staff are all friendly and helpful. The staff named raj at marina port was super helpful. I passed my flower to him and he helped me to arrange my flower to resort to surprise my gf. Appreciate it alot.

The room is old ， but anyway is clean. Shuttle bus the staff said every 15minit 1 times，but we wait 20minit in main lobby there didn't see any shuttle bus. We wait around 25 minute the shuttle bus....need to improve the shuttle bus service.Everything is ok just only the shuttle bus. Environment is good feel relax.

I was kept waiting in the lobby for my room for over 1 hour. Was told technicians were working on the noisy air-conditioning. When i finally arrived at my room, the air-con was still noisy. Walked to the front desk about this problem and the answer was "oh really? Hmm". That was it. No action taken. This resort has the worst TV channels for a 5 star accomodation. Over 100 channels of TV programs but only a few are actually being subscribed by the resort. You are stuck with AXN, local TV channels, animal documentary. Yes, NO MOVIES, No Cartoon, No international news channels, No sports. Overall most staffs were friendly. Most. I found myself preferring to communicate with younger staffs than the senior ones.

Nice retreat. Very relaxing .

i was staying at the Hillside Villa recently. i just wondering why there hv w/o any buggy or shuttle service? actually I'm plan to bring my parents but also worry how wld they walk up too far away to restaurant??? sigh...

Overall experience is good, the welcome reception service is impressive. Hope the cleanliness of the balcony could be improved.

The hotel needs refurbishment badly. The room looks really tired. As for the staffing, the Food and Beverage staff worked really hard to keep the guest happy and entertained that goes the same as housekeeping as well. But the rest of the staff looks tired and overworked. As for the facilities, such as sports facility - there were no one manning the booth from 9am - 11am on the 31st Dec. Even despite the front desk pleading to her colleague, no one came to help. The game rooms looks tired too with all the facility poorly maintained. Its really sad, Pangkor Laut Resort has lost its once magnificent charm.
