Hotel Calatrava

We spent 4 nights at this hotel, and from start to finish the service was very friendly, caring and efficient. We received a free room upgrade and a lovely surprise for my birthday, which were unexpected and very much appreciated. We stayed in room 17 on the top floor which is at the back of the building. Although there is no sea view, it is very quiet. The room is large and has a very big bed (super king size), a free-standing TV, kettle for coffee/tea, a bright bathroom with bath and walk-in shower (and lovely views of the cathedral), and there is a roof terrace furnished with chairs and table – the ideal place to watch the sunrise/sunset (accessible via steep metal steps). Bottled water is replaced every day and in the evening housekeeping leaves a little delicious sweet treat which is a nice touch. The hotel's terrace on the top floor, where food/drinks are served, has lovely sea, harbour and city views. The Cathedral is close-by (5-10 minutes’ walk) and can be seen clearly from the terrace. At breakfast, there is an extensive offering that includes cooked eggs, porridge with fruit, dried meats, cheeses, croissants, yoghurts, etc. and we enjoyed the views of the Mediterranean Sea and the sunrise/sunset from there, even in early February. There are terrace heaters & blankets and should the weather change for the worse there are screens that can be put down for protection. The hotel is situated in the old town of Palma, so ideal for shopping and cafés/restaurants. Santa Catalina and its Market is approx. 20-minutes’ walk west of the hotel. There are a lot of good cafés/restaurants to be found there too. We drove to the hotel from the airport and found it easily using Google Maps, and we used the hotel’s underground car park which is just 2-minutes’ walk away. As other reviewers have mentioned, the streets are narrow, but they’re not difficult to drive. The car park is much more challenging and a small car, such as a Corsa or Fiat 500, is essential. We used the hotel's private Spa (which can be booked for up to 1hr by guests) and I can definitely recommend a 1hr massage with Claudia (must be booked in advance). The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout and a haven of peace and tranquility. It was a pleasure to come back to the hotel after a day’s walking/sight-seeing, and return to a very comfortable room. I recommend this hotel without hesitation and would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was exactly what I wanted for a relaxing and comfortable stay in the centre of Palma.

A fabulous stay where nothing was too much trouble for any of the team. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we felt very special, our room was ready and was immaculate. They explained the local area so we could get our bearings, it is so near to eveything you could want in the Old Town and with beautiful views out to sea and over the park below. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious with access to the spa available too. We soon found our way around and it was always easy to find our way back using the cathedral as a landmark. Lots to see and do with shops etc nearby. We went out of the main season and it was still warm and pleasant. The Christmas markets had just started which we would highly recommend. Always excellent service at Hotel Calatrava in Palma. All the people who works at the hotel is so serviceminded and kindly. Spa for your own and time to relax at the bar on top floor. Of course, we will come back.

My wife surprised me with a stay at this hotel at the beginning of our vacation, which we mainly intend to spend at accommodation in Pollenca. By taxi (or bus) from the airport, it's a short ride into Palma's old town and to the Calatrava Mediterranean Seahouse. The entrance is discreet and small; overall, the hotel offers probably 16 rooms from standard to suites. The welcome by the staff is warm, friendly, and professional. We received a lot of support, good tips for places to eat well or worth seeing. The old town is just a few steps from the door, as this hotel is part of it. Truly, all the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, beautiful, and stylishly decorated, with small and very thoughtful attentions waiting for you. The food selection is very good, including Spanish specialties, and they are willing to fulfill special requests. We had our meals, be it dinner or breakfast in the morning, on the rooftop terrace, which offers a beautiful view of the sea as well as to the east and west. In the evening, the view there is very picturesque with subtle background music. The breakfast buffet leaves hardly anything to be desired; I can't think of any. Even small glasses of homemade tiramisu are available, and this was the best tiramisu I have ever had. We couldn't enjoy the spa area because we had the dilemma of exploring Palma's old town a bit more or taking time for the spa, so we decided on the culture of the city. Too bad, but next time for sure. What else could I say except... it was beautiful. The people, the service, the friendliness, the food, the family atmosphere, and the helpfulness... gladly again, and then longer. At this point, we would like to thank everyone who made our time there enjoyable, whether it's Tereza, Monika, Sara, Ines, Marti, or others which also take in mind that pregnant woman has special needs :-)

We had a lovely stay at this small luxury hotel hidden by stone walls close by the sea and the palace. We booked it because of the terrace and were not disappointed - it was a place to hang out and soak up the sun at all hours. The staff was very friendly and serviceminded and our room was big and clean. We would love to take the comfy bed back home :)

We had our second stay at Calatrava and it was a again a great experience. Noemi, her colleagues and the whole staff of the hotel gave us again the feeling not to be only a guest. It was like staying with friends. But also the comfort and the quietness of the hotelroom was perfect. The position of the hotel with the view to the sea and at the same time the vicinity to the city center is also perfect. Last but not least the furniture and the whole interieur design is absolutely tastefully. We are looking forward to our next time in this great hotel! Saludos y abrazos Rikarda & Tobias

We have been coming here in December for many years. We are never disappointed. It has a unique ambience. The suites are very spacious and the views across the bay are stunning. The location is perfect, a short walk for the centre of town and also an easy walk to Portixol and Molinar. The staff are the highlight and are never less than genuinely friendly and helpful. It really is like a home from home. The roof terrace is an amazing place to have breakfast or coffee or just sit and read a book. Calatrava is perfect for those of us who want a small, quiet, peaceful but sophisticated place to stay in Palma.

The best place to stay when visiting the old town. Perfect location, very comfortable and spacious rooms. Delicious and sumptuous breakfast buffet with stunning views. The service from the staff was the best! An amazing experience on all senses.

I planned spent 1 week in Palma, Calatrava Mediterrean House at the end of november 2023 . Just for relaxing, meditation, cycling, writing. Just to be calm. But I got much more in Calatrava. Have traveled more than 100 counties and hotels, I can say without doubt - Calatravas hotel staff is not a ordinary staff, but is a family for a client. Client feel himself part of warm hospitality and kindness. Building is inspiring and mystique , mixture of mediaval atmosphere and modern luxury, comfortable. To have a very tasty breakfast at rooftop lounge , drink coffee at sunrise and enjoy Palmas arhitectural panorama and blue seaview , is worth to see. You will remember it anyway. And freshly baked bread. Palmas Cathedral, but also a beach is just 5 minutes walk. Calatrava is in the same time in the middle of Palmas life , but still in tranquility and save haven or shelter to land. Just to remember - we all are originally from same roots in the flow of beauty surrounding us. Muchas gracias Calatrava family!
