My husband and I stayed for one night and check in was very easy and quick. First impressions of out room it was spacious, spotlessly clean and the views of the lakes was just perfect, thank you so much. We quickly headed for our pre booked afternoon tea and was rather disappointed as the quality of the food was really good however, what appeared to be one sandwich cut into fingers for 2 people is an outrage, considering the cost, on top of which we were not offered an alternative prosecco drink we only discovered we could have this after we had eaten, we wouldn't have minded paying the extra cost. We headed back to our rooms, only to discover they supply drinking glasses for water but you are expected to help yourself to tap water from the bathroom sink, due to environmental reasons. We totally understand that but come on, surely for a 4 star hotel you can come up with something much more hygienic, a jug filled with water when you arrive or indeed water stations in your reception or hall ways, we certainly never drank any water in the room. In the room, we expected to find a menu for your restaurant and GGs and/or a list of things to explore whilst out and about, there was none of this all they had were their spa deals etc. We actually headed out for dinner, when we got back, we had a couple of drinks before heading to bed. All the staff so far, had been very attentive and hard working, cant thank them enough. Went to bed, had a great night's sleep, the queen size bed was truly comfortable. Next morning we headed for breakfast, the continental breakfast looked looked amazing with plenty of choices, had to make our own toast which was not ideal as we had to queue for that. I asked for a tomato juice as there was a note saying they had that but wasn't at the drinks station, was told there was none. Next came the cooked breakfast, I was expecting it to be as good as GGs breakfast. couldn't be further from the truth, it arrived cold, the potato scone was not cooked properly, it tasted more like a raw one, which I don't like, the haggis was bland/tasteless, not edible in the slightest, the staff appeared to be rushed off their feet, not a pleasant experience at all. All in all, if it wasn't for the lovely attentive and professional staff you have, it would have been a nightmare. I will most certainly be returning to GG's as well as your lovely restaurant for dinner, as we've experienced dinner before, however, I very much doubt we will be booking bed and breakfast again, unless things change dramatically. Again, cant thank your staff enough for all their hard work.
